Damage Buff[edit]

Does this 25% more damage affect spells as well? Bubbinska 00:59, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

It's possible. I know Vengeance affects spells, but I don't have access to this skill yet, so I can't test it for you. The wording suggests it will, though. 72.81.247.139 13:12, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, it does, and it affects other shouts too.--Ʀєʟʟɑ 11:08, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

This has got to be a Galaxy Quest reference. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:67.154.49.114 .

See book eldest... by hothgar's hammer is what the dwarves say. hothgar being the dwarf king wih a large hammer. pherhaps a bit more related than galaxy quest? mm'kay.
By <insert name here>'s hammer/axe/beard/ale/wife/twiggy nose hairs/etc. are common things for any fantasy dwarf to say. 145.94.74.23 12:01, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Never Surrender and Never Give Up are also Galaxy Quest references - the fact that other skills clearly are point to the likelihood of this being one too 12:31, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Despite Konig's removal of the reference note - undoubtably in my opinion is this a reference to it.--File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 08:19, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
Except for the fact that it's a very common phrase - just replace Ural with any name and you'll get dozens of hits, I'm sure - and there's nothing else linking this to Galaxy Quest. The phrase is just far too common to be certain its a reference to a particular movie/game/whatever. So even if it was a reference, there'd be absolutely no way to prove or even support it without also supporting dozens upon dozens of other situations, in which case I'd have to refer to this old discussion about how trivia notes can get out of hand. Same reason why Rune of DOOM is left without a trivia - there's so many possibilities (even if there's one very undeniable imo) that it's just not worth arguing to keep it up. Question[edit]

How does this work with Aura of the Lich? --Santax (talk · contribs) 17:27, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Aura of the lich halves your health, so if you have 400 health, use AotL (Now 200) you must be at 50 to trigger this skill. 65.102.68.146 20:57, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
This is 50% of your maximum, so you'd have to have 100 out of that 200 to trigger it, not 50 out of 200. 72.81.247.139 13:14, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

IWAY[edit]

Does this skill increase minion dmg?[edit]

Well, im just wondering... Does it? --SkyHiRider 23:47, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't see why it would, it increases your damage, not the allies' damage -Meridan 08:38, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

regen[edit]

needs to be energy regen, imo.. 2 health regen is next to useless in most cases--Ʀєʟʟɑ 11:24, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah it needs to add up for each person that was under 50% so if there's 5 people under 50 you get +10 regen and same for damage boost up to a max of 100%--75.94.77.148 04:26, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Spirits[edit]

If i cast my set of 6 Spirits, and then shout BUH! (the skill), will Spirit do more dmg? or just my stave/wand/weapon?? ---Haunted Shadow 15:47, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Haunted Shadow

Going to Isle of the nameless and attacking the Master of Damage with first no buffs with the spirits from Signet of Spirits at 16 Channeling saw them doing 34 damage per attack per spirit. Then casting the spirits and before they attack using BUH!, saw no increase in damage... still only 34. Lastly, casting BUH! and THEN the spirits, I saw no increase in damage, still all three spirits were hitting for 34 damage. I theorize this is because the spirits are considered separate creatures with their own buffs and debuffs so BUH's damage addition won't give any damage buff to them since the shout increases damage You do. Sadly my Utility Rit, UtiliRit for short, is not going to be bringing BUH. --- Art 19:33, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

It stacks with Urals Hammer Multiplied.

  • Obby Flame = 94dmg.
  • with both up it did 145. which with math (23% intensity) X (25% Ural) = 144.525
  • added it would have been 94 x 1.48 = 139.12
  • I tried one before the other to see if the order changed anything. Nothing. Justice 13:02, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Hrothgar is also the king of the Danes in Beowulf. Anyway, there are many Galaxy Quest references in Guild Wars already, so it's the most likely source. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 04:23, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

What exactly does it res?[edit]

I heard rumors it can ressurect sins from Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support; haven't gotten to test this myself, but if that is true, I wonder, what else could it res O_o? Summoning stones? Power WMElementalist-tango-icon-200.png 03:25, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

If that is true, imagine the implications of being able to revive dying minions if you can time it right... -Yossitaru 03:31, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Rezzes sins, summoning stones, asuran summons, snakes in doa, pretty much any ally. It only works on sins, summons etc if they actually died, not if they timed out. Its possible to get 2 asuran summons under the control of one player. Id imagine having 2 summoning stones alive would be possible too. 98.207.35.105 03:32, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

BUH bug.jpg Fun bug ^____^ --TahiriVeila 04:51, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Spiritleech aura works on copies to give them actual dmg. They are so gonna fix this. Can make a mountain of spirits and put up spiritleech aura for insta kills. Or just a pile of asura summons like Ruby Djinn and they should get the +33% dmg bonus aswell. Stacked with Battle Standard and their wanding alone drops stuff. In short, dont expect this to stay around...they will change it to party members only or at worst regular allies (party members/pets/npcs) and not summons. Justice 12:27, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Right now with this bug it's possible for a spirit spammer to solo farm the Path to Revelations bosses using a combination of pain inverter and painful bond. A run can be done in under 10 minutes and nets you around 470 Norn faction and 6 boss drops on hard mode. It's hilarious to watch the facet of illusions pop itself with a single cast of spiritual pain.207.6.123.192 15:19, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

They are killable. In fact since the spirits you bring back are level 1 they'll usually go down in one hit. But that doesn't stop you from making more of them over time, especially when hammer gets recharged by a boss kill.207.6.123.192 15:54, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
Spirits I ressurect are just the level they are suppossed to be (in my case, level 13). Are you sure you aren't using level 1 spirits? Also BUH ressurects the Dwarf allies in Glint's Challenge but I don't know if they still add bonus points if you ress them 2 seconds before the end of the last wave. I agree on "creating *another* completely useless skill." Only srs tards wiping your whole party would need a party res. And even then I would prefer all the others, but a party-Vengeance that lasts 30 secs, CD 60 secs thus being re-res'd every minute -_- xD Atmu 02:14, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

It's actually really useful, and it was getting really old seeing this skill in so many builds. This and asura scan were too much of a must-have skill, and you would either make a good bar with only 6-7 skills to choose from, or a fun bar with full freedom but no god mode damage boost. This skill IS USEFULL now. Are you going to take it while exploring Old Ascalon? No. Are you going to take an INSTANT party res with FULL HP AND ENERGY for FIVE energy AND a large damage boost for those that died while you go into HM dungeons, missions and elite areas? Hell yes, I am. I'm farming HM snowman dungeon now and this skill is leet sauce, speeds things up big time and I can drop my UA monk (finally). Just because a skill isn't great in every scenario possible doesn't mean it sucks. Get over it, adapt to it, start enjoying it. K2K 08:17, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Why would you need such a res in that dungeon? Have they changed it? They took so much damage from fire when I last farmed that place. 60.50.251.93 11:58, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

">Comparing Utility/damage to Lame Utility/Even Lamer utility" --BriarUser Briar Sig 3.jpgThe Spider 02:07, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
This skill would not be useless if everyone that got resed by it didnt die after 30 seconds. It's 100000000000000000000000x more useful if you res someone and they stay alive. Unavoidable death is total crap.
Not really, 30 secs is often all you need, especially when everyone you rez has a large damage boost and full energy. Also, I'm by no means saying this replaces rez skills, it's simply a nice utility. Oh, and to the IP asking about the snowman dungeon, it hasn't changed, but there are parts where you can get overwhelmed before your eles blow things up. Mainly due to not-so-great hero AI with shield of absorption. I usually have ~3 deaths in a pure H/H per run - I also notice that by using this, all my monks don't start casting a rez on a warrior while snowmen destroy my party - saving your monk 4-5 secs of cast time is invaluable. Oh, and I do hope that the person saying this is 8 times more useless than veng is joking, or that's some of the most depressingly horrible critical thinking I've ever seen. (Well, not really since America exists, but still (; ) K2K 13:25, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Frozen Soil and Dhuum[edit]

I hear BUH can res through Frozen Soil. I haven't verified this... but if this is the case, does it also res in Dhuum's chamber? --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 07:48, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Tested and confirmed. User K2K BUHRezThroughFS.jpg. Don't know about Dhuum's chamber, never bothered with that dungeon. But this skill is -VERY- buggy so far, so I'm guessing yes, as long as you're not under well of silence or similar skills. It might be worth noting, looking at my screenie, that there is nothing in the effects monitor of my rezzed hero (Pyre), so those under the skill may think they just got a UA/We Shall Return rez and won't realise they have limited time and a damage boost.K2K 08:22, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

All is not lost[edit]

You know, if 2-3 people brought this. You could chain rez anyone who was dead every 30 seconds to upkeep the damage buff and also give anyone who was dead full energy and health after By Ural's ends :). Just a thought, don't rage me. Alcahmahol 05:21, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
So everybody in my party (H&H) died and I use BUH to rez them. One of the party dies again but is rezed before the 30 seconds is up. At 30 seconds everyone dies except him. Strange, or am I missing something?
Ok. Before posting that by itself, I went to test. Used 3 BIP necros to die, then used BUH to rez. Then forced just one to die, after which he was rezed with DPS. At the 30 second mark he stayed alive while the other two died. Normal? I guess I was expecting a BUH rez to give you 30 seconds and no more unless you were rezed after the 30 seconds were up. So a premature death (before the 30 seconds were up) would satisfy BUH and then you could be rezed w/o penalty? Though the fact that he didn't die when the other necro died is strange considering DPS was used. Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 01:08, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
That seems consistent with other temporary revival spells. Also, DPS makes the caster die if the target dies. You probably wanted Vengeance, since that causes the target to die if the enchantment drops, in this case, from caster death. -Yossitaru 01:14, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
/doh That's right. Thanks for the reply. Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 01:18, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Chain resurrecting would only work if at least two people bringing "BUH!" never died. Another bonus of this would be no DP accumulation, and the initial 15% earned from the dying team members would easily wear off after a couple mobs. Also, you mean Unyielding Aura (PvP), not Vengeance. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 01:20, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Well everything has it's flaws, another way to go at it is to have all party members bring this since you don't need a professional like with "We Shall Return" 8 people chain rezzing each other sounds like it would be fun but also annoying. And also people would actually have to die in the first place. Alcahmahol 08:01, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
It's still useful when you're capturing skills (hero party). You can give two of your characters a hard rez and pick one of them up with the shout. Then that one resurrects the other that has a rez, dies 30 second later, and is subsequently resurrected again. Thus, it's WAY more useful than any other professionless rez (in my opinion).142.161.163.14 00:44, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Synergy w/ rest of update "derv update"[edit]

Wouldn't this skill work great w/ the revamp for eternal aura? If the party is about to wipe, you use BUH and one of the people ressurected by BUH uses Eternal Aura. When the time endas for BUH, eternal aura rezzes the group, so the party will avoid wipe, AND have had 30 seconds to clear out the baddies.--Bold Baby Undies 22:10, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

If everyone dies via BuH, you will still wipe and be booted out of any area (mision, etc) with no rez shrines, even if someone had Eternal Aura on.70.181.72.216

Galaxy Quest connection revisited[edit]

See also: above

This article used to include the line, "In the film Galaxy Quest, the character played by Alan Rickman was terribly vexed by his line, "By Grabthar's Hammer, I will avenge you!" ". There are only three reasons for including the trivia: (1) both lines use Hammer (a relatively unlikely part of the phrasing); (2) ANet has used other Galaxy Quest references; and (3) if enough people think there's a connection, then there is one, even if unintended by ANet. We could point to the similarities of the phrasing.

Nevertheless, the line was removed in July 2011, under the argument that by [insert Proper Noun] (or by [Insert Proper Noun's Item]) is a common phrase from RPGs, movies, and even medieval literature (and perhaps even farther back). Further, none of the other Deldrimor skills use ironic catch phrases. More significantly, there is a Grabthar's Hammer in the game and it seems unlikely that the Dwarves of EotN are referring to Grabthar the Overbearing, a Margonite with no connection to Tyria.

Since no one has attempted to re-open the discussion, I am removing the line on the basis of an existing consensus that there is no specific Galaxy Quest connection to the skill's name. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 09:20, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
