So we ARE able to mix faces and hairstyles from different campaigns, right? ~ Chao 19:13, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

So far I've only used the preview (which, btw, you can do without purchasing the makeover pack), but I did in fact check to see how a Canthan hair looked on my Prophecies ranger. Can't imagine they'd let you preview something you couldn't do. Xylia 19:21, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes you can mix faces and stuff from different campaigns, i've purchased a makeover pack and restyled my 4 year old ranger because she needed a change :). They should add some more styles for Nightfall and Factions Professions (and Core professions to but they already have alot to go with so that can wait), they did a good job adding this to the game.Qaletaqa 02:34, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Why is his profession listed as None? It obviously has to be Necromancer. Only some one skilled in Death Magic could reanimate dead tissue.  :) --Roe Cantarus 07:45, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Why not Mesmer? They have fabulous illusions! 76.30.79.54 07:51, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Its listed as no Profession because he doesnt appear to have one. It doesnt matter what he could theoretically be or what would theoretically makes sense. He also doesnt have a profession specific Look / Weapon / whatever like Kimmes The Historian so he doesnt have a Profession Period. --SilentStorm Talk to me 11:11, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Dude! We're just playing with the idiosyncrasies of the professions (raising 'dead' matter, show something other than whats there, etc... ). Have fun and run with it! 76.30.79.54 11:55, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

No, I will not have fun. I am hardcore to the core. GW for life.

It's a bit of an ass how we actually have to pay real money for this. Is this the future of ArenaNet? Stealing our money for petty gaming bonuses?

I think we should simply pay ingame gold for these changes.

At Last[edit]

Hooray - Until now my only option to alter my toon's apperance has been to create another - Thank You Anet. I can't wait to get started and I certainly don't care if it costs real-world money. I have better uses for my in-game gold anyway. I am concerned about one itty bitty thing however. If I change my toon's gender, will all armour associated with him/her (elite(s) and or Prestege armour displayed in the Hall of Monuments), make the change as well? I've spent a lot of time and money getting silver eagle armour for this toon and it would be a real drag if the armour couldn't make the gender leap with my character. 12.21.174.25 17:02, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

You could just browse the wiki for that armor set and take a look at the galleries :). Paddymew 05:10, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Question[edit]

Does it only cost one credit to change as many traits as you want on one character, or does it cost one per trait (forget about gender change)? -Desi

It's one credit to change your character, not including gender. So one credit to change hair, or change hair and face, or change hair and face and skin tone and hair color.
Note that you can talk to the stylist without having any credits on your account just to see what is available and what it would cost. Your account credits and the number of credits it would cost to make the desired change are shown in the stylist window. --Nkuvu User Nkuvu sig button.jpg 05:04, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Anyone actually going to use this?[edit]

I know theres a couple out there like me, and they dont wanna spend IRL currency on just changing your hair color. :| I cant stand how they did this. Not even a free credit for ppl who have been with them for the 4 years they've been here. /rant. :/ --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:76.110.187.128 (talk).

Please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). They gave us free a free pane of storage. I guess thats not enough free stuff for ya.Talk page Drogo Boffin 22:52, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
That's th think with free stuff, no matter how much you get, you can always welcome more. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 01:27, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Well you could view it as "They're just after my money!" or "Hey, paying a small sum every now and then instead of a monthly fee such as many other mmorpgs..." ...it's not as if you HAVE to use him/pay... personally I love it! -> Image:User_ander01_christine_clairborn_001.png - Ander01 05:08, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. And even IF I would spend some RL money here and there, compared to the time I have been playing this game it still is A LOT cheaper than any kind of monthly fee. And what matters the most: it is absolutely my own free decision to spend my money and nobody forces me too. So I can only blame myself and never Anet ^^ This doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate these makeover packs being cheaper ;) ~ Dragon User talk:Zaishen Dragon 17:20, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
How about using Z-coins to purchase credits? Anon1523 00:05, 14 june 2009 (utc)
That won't do. The point is to get cash. But I had a little idea... it could be turned into a pay once feature, if you had to pay for each 'piece' just once. Pay for a hairdo, a hair color, a face and skin color, and those 4 are unlocked for the account forever. Next time you change to 'pieces' you have already unlocked, you don't have to pay, one piece you don't have or a gender change, and you must pay a credit. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:12, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

That would be gud 202.78.155.235 03:58, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

When a free game is trying to make up maintenance costs or profit by selling something that will not directly affect your gameplay or give you advance, I think that's totally fine. Mediggo 06:13, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
$10. If this is too expensive for you, you ought to stop playing the game all together and go get a (new/better)job. If you wish your ten american dollars could do more for you, too friggin bad, it will never happen. If you wish for this (and thus, probably everything else in the in-game store) to cost less, and the game to stay free, you'll probably need to convince every ANet employee to live on a wage of 1 square of cheap toilet paper an hour. Not gonna happen.72.161.123.22 19:35, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I used it. Changed the appearance of 2-3 chars. Will keep the other credits for later. Thanks ANet. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 14:55, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

omg this guy is awsom[edit]

SO CUTTE ^_______^ - Wuhy User Wuhy sig.jpg 23:18, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Not sure why they didnt just make all female options available to all females and same with male. That way 4 of the 10 professions would have benefited from this. I suppose later they will add a "superior" change credit that has 1 use and cost 15$ just for this function.... Justice 05:45, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Glitch[edit]

After changing my male para to a female, the /dancenew command doesn't work any more. It lists the emote in the chat window, but there's no dancing, and the sparks don't shoot out. Boo! Wombatt 03:11, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Waiting[edit]

I made a Tyrian toon with a plan of changing his face/hair as soon as I got to post to something else - but then I see I will have to wait - I can't actually get to the Great Temple until I get to Lion's Arch :( Tong2 18:31, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

make" Engineer Lyle" free for Guildwars officially.[edit]

No one will want to use a card to pay for something that should be free,GuildWars started out free and should remain so. --Flameshard99 00:41, 30 May 2012 (UTC)Flameshard99

Split[edit]

Split to article for NPC and for how a Stylist works. ATM it's mostly just the NPC, but it does include some info on Stylists. horrible | contribs 22:27, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

There aren't any other Stylists, though. There's a couple other NPC pages where their unique function is described on their NPC page. I don't think it needs a split. Blue Totoro 15:19, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, but my reasoning would be to document the Stylist function (what it is, how it works, etc) on its own, and then just have this be a page for the npc. If someone's looking for the makeover stuff, this article isn't exactly clear on it. horrible | contribs 00:42, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
I'm with Totoro. Make the first part of the page about Llye, and the second about the Stylist funtion. Then we won't need 2 pages. Steve1 (talk) 16:57, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
I agree with horrible. The service is what the NPC offers and Llye is the NPC in question. We have Guild Lord and Guild hall services respectively for the upgrades of a guild hall, which is not necessarily an improvement for that service, but precedent for the split. - Infinite - talk 19:18, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
Yeah. With just one Styrlist in the whole game, all we need is a redirect from "Stylist" to the NPC. Mith🌟Talk 18:24, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
