1 April[edit]

Are there any plans for 1 april, or will it be same as last year. I hope we will be a foe for one day, coupled to or prof or face looks. Or the same as last year but in the whole game. Death Slighertalk: Death Sligher 20:27, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

April's Fools is only April's Fools when it's unexpected, asking what will happen just makes that pointless :P --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ Talk 20:35, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
'Tis true. I'm not talkin'! -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:38, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah ok, but I just hope they won't do it only in Capital Towns ^^ Death Slighertalk: Death Sligher 20:39, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
My User Tribina base.png-day (Guild_Wars_Wiki:Projects/User_birthdays) happens to be on the first of April (for the last 30 years ^^), a lot of people laugh about it... But even more people remember my B-day because of that date ^^. I'm delighted to see something unexpected in GW every time it is my B-day ^^ --User Tribina base.png (Tribina / talk) 21:17, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Maybe everyone will walk around upside down this year. -- Sirius (talk) 23:14, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Maybe we'll all be Mursaat OO. Or maybe we'll be charr (the first view of female charr) :P --MageMontu 23:29, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Or dwarf then, although changing the gender again would be good enough for me, I missed it last year :( --Meridan (Talk!) 12:30, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
I think I won't be here for april 1st ;( oh well...Ninjas In The Sky 15:55, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

April fools day?[edit]

I'm just wondering what this years joke is. Might it be the story of you changing your job Gaile? If its not, i'll prob try an attend your party. DBZVelena | (Talk page) User DBZVelena sig.jpg 05:22, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Not to spoil anything for everyone, just log on and see. I love today. Thanks aNet! very ver different and funny Renin 07:34, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
This April Fools joke messes up PvP as newly created PvP charaters can only select from Ranger armor but when clicking create nothing happens. So you can't upgrade them at all with runes or insignias. Also it makes playing PvP very annoying as everyone is a stick figure making it next to impossible to distinguish between friend or foe or what is what so it's much harder to tell what is a current threat and what isn't. This update wasn't tested that well appearantly before it was released. ~ User:Sabastian Sabastian 08:00, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
It is a joke, that is the point. I am sure they tested it. I think it is super funny to watch people get confused in RA lol --Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg 08:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Only for a day anyways.--Ryudo 08:04, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
If they tested it then they are delibertly trying to keep people from PvPing or making new PvP characters for a day... sounds more like they didn't properly test it to me... atleast I'd hope that they simply didn't test it rather than trying to mess up peoples PvP play that badly. It may just be for a day but that doesn't make it any less annoying. Keeping it out of actualy PvP play but letting it stay in towns is fine and letting newly made PvP characters actually have armor upgrades would also be better than restricting them like they have. So they need to fix the update so it stays harmless rather than annoying. ~ User:Sabastian Sabastian 08:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
April's fools jokes are supposed to be annoying. Sanderevers 08:50, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
They shouldn't interfere with normal gameply though either. The April Fool's joke last year was good and didn't interfere with normal gameplay and nor should this one. An April Fool's joke can be good without being annoying as an annoying one only serves to annoy players. ~ User:Sabastian Sabastian 08:55, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
What does it care, it is just for 1 day... Smurf Minions 13:58, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Why Gaile why? I don'y like this at all. (please fix this up if it is incorrect pay of posting here)

Wow it is just a bit of fun, oh no there is a bug that will last a day! --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 16:58, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm with Sabastian, it shouldn't interfere with the game, you can have fun w/o the game being messed up. Some people(unfortunately) take this game very seriously, what about people who are trying to work on PVP titles, and are just one point away? It's frustrating, Anet shouldn't ever hinder PVP like this. I'm not even there(Suspended account) and from what i've heard, it's pretty bad. Stick figures seem more like a glitch than a joke..--99.225.57.217 19:23, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
(RI) Funny how "Gaile Gray" also is a anagram for "I Relay Gag" strange coincidence? :) hmm But I seriously doubt her switching roles is a joke even though its April Fools Day Chik En 19:52, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

For those of you who are complaining about not being able to PvP...well...if you are THAT into PvP that you can't take a light-hearted April Fool's joke which prohibits you from playing for ONE day then maybe you should think for a second "Am I really that addicted?" Just try to chill out and have some fun with it today, go back to being serious tomorrow. InvdrFlame 19:53, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I'd love to HA today, that'd be great... -- Alaris_sig Alaris 21:58, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
People play the game to have fun(Or boost ego), not everyone likes these jokes, in or out of a game. Anet's "fun" should never affect PvP, it's the reason minipets and tonics aren't allowed in PvP--Ohnoes 22:59, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
/violin --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 23:02, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, here: Lia says: Everyone on GW is stickfigures.... annoying as hell

That's on MSN, and she doesn't PvP, or even play PvE, she only goes on GW to talk, and maybe once a month, she'll go kill something. She DOES have a sense of humor, and people should have the option to not put up with this if they don't want to--Ohnoes 23:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

...........dear god, are people really saying that the game shouldn't be fun..... i mean its a GAME not a JOB, if you have that much time to spend on GW that one joke ruins your entire day, you need help 71.61.80.119 01:43, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

/no ?[edit]

I've noticed something interesting -- everytime my form expires, the stick figure performs a /no emote. I haven't tested to see if this applies only to forms or is an interrupt-type thing, but it's still a cute touch. ^^ --79.171.74.8 10:52, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

No gg for noobs[edit]

Great, so in addition to breaking PvP item creation for half the day and preprotting for the whole day, I get to stare at an ugly stick figure. Well, great. Only about 60% of the reason I bought the game was for the powerful graphics engine; at least last year's event was interesting. This one gets stupid after maybe half an hour. Maybe making us look like various creatures from the elite missions (Urgoz, Tombs of the Primeval Kings, the Deep, Domain of Anguish, Fissure of Woe, or the Underworld) would have been something; at least we'd be able to play serious PvP then.

If you're going to include something in the game, try to do it right; check for the common bugs, have a part of the team run a character - preferably many, for one of each gender and profession - through some of the major parts of the game, and check before you do something that may break PvP. Unlike in PvE, you can't just go back and try things again; if you fail in PvP, there are consequences (beyond losing some cash on consumables).

To those who say "it's just a day", I'm sorry, no. I do have a life, and I do enjoy playing Guild Wars - and I spent my money with the understanding that, because I was spending more money than I did on RuneScape, I'd get a better game out of it. This thought was augmented by the fact that ArenaNet has a rather larger staff than Jagex does. But really, besides the shared characters and the censor, I'm not seeing too much more quality right now - certainly not my money's worth. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 02:53, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Well....Consumables in PvP?!?--Ʀєʟʟɑ 03:11, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
He was referring to PvE consequences of breaking part of the game. But true on the QA part. They didn't do a thorough-enough testing. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 03:27, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Judging the quality of an entire game on a joke? A one-day thing brings GW down to Runescape's level? Am I being punk'd? → BROWNSPANK 11:25, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Armond just hates everything about the game. He "says" he enjoys the game but I've seen nothing good come out of his posts. No "great job aNet" or "Congratulations Gaile and Guild Wars." He can't really seem to just enjoy the game as it is, flaws and all. Renin 11:49, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I fully agree, Armond, it was for just one day, so if it bugged you so much, and if you were worried about losing consumables, then just don't play for the one day! April fools' day is about having fun, and not everyone likes it, but thats how the day goes. For all of you who are complaining, Id just like to tell you, grow up! For the rest of you, I'm glad you could have some fun with the stickmen!

Personally i didnt like the stickmen myself but honestly bitching and moaning about it just dull. It's one day and on top of that pvp was still possible, just abit harder. Okay admittedly the fix for the pvp armor creation too way too long but again, really it was only like 10 hours or so. Not a big deal at all. Armond is just upset as he took the skill updates seriously and got laughed at for it. So lets all just move along now as its the 2nd of april and were back to normal so nothing to QQ about -- Salome User salome sig.png 13:00, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
I had loads of fun in HA with stick figures. It was great. The puns were pouring. My favorite was about us being supermodels. I woudn't want the stick figures to make regular appearances, but it's definately a once-in-a-lifetime experience I enjoyed! -- Alaris_sig Alaris 13:49, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Wow, this many people commented and no one thought that, instead of judging the game as bad off of one day like someone mentioned, I've been judging it off of what I've seen for the past year? I'm honestly quite surprised. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 14:46, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree with you that the events and the updates are quite mediocre, but as a one time payment online RPG, they're doing fine in my opinion. The gameplay and PvP is mutch better than those of other RPG's which require monthly payment, although the events and updates are somewhat less good than those. Guildwars is still a solid game in my opinion, even with minor bugs and annoyances here and there. SniperFoxUser SniperFox IconSmall.gif 14:48, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I'm sure that these other pay-to-play games have their fair share of bugs and annoyances as well. For example, the Wow plague, which I am sure annoyed a lot of players. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 15:15, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
April fools is not even a real event in guild wars.. i s kind of joke for one day.. if you have a life.. well turn off the pc and go enjoy it that day.. thats dont mean you have lost your "laaarge" amount of money buying a game (a game that you have played for years as i presume) and no paying any monthly fee. anet, as for me, keep up the good work Kioga 13:46, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Lol quit complaining...it was only 1 day. u paid like $40? oh my? It was a joke doesnt mean like it is going to be like that forever..dont u have sommething more important to worry about?

lol i dont think you heard this enough one whiney guy of which i forgot your name, but its really sad that you have such a problem with a day and judge the game based on the one day. sincerely, if you have a problem, any problem at all, dont hesitate to quit playing, so i dont have to bother posting ^^. 65.29.131.221 23:38, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
