Australia?[edit]

Why doesn't Anet like Australia, we never get any cool promotions :( -- Scourge 04:56, 7 March 2007 (EST)

Should be able to pick up the PC Gamer mag when it hits stores in Australia, that's the way I got my Grey Giant mini. Still it would be nice to get some Australia based promotions. --Indecision 05:22, 7 March 2007 (EST)
We have it even worse in Brazil, NCSoft pretends we don't exist ;_; In that (completely unofficial) rumor that spread from the Inquirer, it was mentioned that one of the possible new playable races would be the Asura. I wonder what this would mean for GW if it were true... Erasculio 05:53, 7 March 2007 (EST)
I wonder if they are a Humanoid race -- Scourge 06:12, 7 March 2007 (EST)
I guess it's not a humanoid... I wonder what the hell it is lol -- Scourge 08:24, 9 March 2007 (EST)
If it was blue it would Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. Vladtheemailer 09:30, 9 March 2007 (EST)
This is why you never let Dobby near Aliens. Seriously I find them most ugly to play with. Sith 05:58, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
Come on, someone has to ride the short bus in the GW world. Looks like these guys are it. {{subst:71.97.20.102|}}
Don't take it personally, we Australians get everything last, we're like the oddly shaped cousin no one talks to. User:Az

Asura = Nibblonians?[edit]

Diminutive but wise. Alien-like. Reclusive and probably have been around for a long time. Not to mention they probably fear that they're more cute than fierce. Could the Asura have been inspired by Futurama's Nibblonians? Just a thought that popped into my head when reading some of the names of Asura NPCs. Commander Hixx, hehe. --Heelz 03:19, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Say! You just might be right! lol -- ab.er.rant sig 03:20, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
I doubt it, Warcraft was out about 5 years before Futurama started airing, but Bendah, an NPC they're adding to Kamadan before the Eye of the North preview, is probably named after Bender. -- Gordon Ecker 04:16, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
What does Warcraft have to do with the Asura? --Heelz 04:29, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Goblins, although there's a much older mythological tradition of diminunative artisans, with dwarves and gnomes as the best known examples. -- Gordon Ecker 05:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Well, I think the most important part is the whole "gratuitous cuteness" of Nibblonians and Asura. I wouldn't consider goblins or gnomes (well not as much) "cute". Also, depending on whether Asura are an ancient race in GW, they could be inspired by the Nibblonians, who existed 17 years before the universe! --Heelz 05:12, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

And they're both a lot more dangerous than they appear at first glance. Those Asura have some pretty sharp looking teeth. -- Gordon Ecker 05:27, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Lilo and stitch anyone? :-p Long ears, cute but deadly. -- Txzeenath 14:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Asuras are demons in Hindu mythology. And heck in GW they seem to be modelled a bit after them. Cute? Not really, look at their appearance, look at the concept art, look how they treat others. Powerful? Yeah, just like demons of Hindu mythology. But that's pretty much it. And in GW they try to picture Asuras as cute cuddly creatures. Weird, why not just get pandas. Servant of Kali 01:23, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
I can definitely see a Stitch resemblance: being the same size, having the long ears, and the same general face shape. User Sarifael Sig.jpgSarifael 14:32, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

I see similarities between gw asura and the Ancient from Stargate SG1, I woulda add the note but someone already did ^^ --Ridz16 01:08, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

KAWAII DESU YOU NEE![edit]

These are some of the cutest things I have ever seen in my life! I'm a guy, but I still think these are so.... neat :3 --«troy frostwind» 21:19, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

they are unfriendly racists as long as you have not archieved at least Asura rank 5^^ —ZerphatalkThe Improver 14:57, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Update the Asura Image?[edit]

The Asura image is currently tagged under Category:Image_update_needed I can change the image if needed, but see nothing wrong with the current image, if anyone feels it needs to be changed let me know Fall 08:55, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I assume the image is of the miniature, maybe another asura would be better, I'd prefer an image without a human's legs or at least one where the human (parts) give a good impression of their size relative to humans. Etienne 17:28, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Asuran character in GW2[edit]

So are we going to see Golemancers by the new Minion Masters?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:203.173.232.249 (talk).

Voice Actor[edit]

anyone know specifically who does the voice acting for the Females? I recognize the voice and its bugging me. 75.153.242.9 01:59, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I believe it was Mari Weiss. That Sounds Risky | 02:06, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Here are the IMDB pages for IMDB Amanda Phillipson April Stewart, Barbara Goodsone and Kari Wahlgren. The female Asura voice reminds me of Rem from Death Note, but Colleen Wheeler isn't in Guild Wars' voice cast. -- Gordon Ecker 02:51, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Names?[edit]

Is every asura's name 4 letters long? I noticed this, every asura's name is exactly 4 letters long, and many have a repeated letter, Vekk, Oola, Gadd... The preceding unsigned comment was added by 96.245.211.38 (talk • contribs) at 19:30, 13 August 2009 (UTC).

Nope, although I suppose that's quite common; check Category:Asura. --User Brains12 circle sig.png Brains12 \ talk 19:33, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
All the names sound horribly primitive, like 5-year-old onomatopoeia. --Jette User Jette awesome.png 19:34, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

except we also have Blimm and Renk, so it really isn't a rule.

Jeff and Ree have explained the asura's names in general over on GW2Guru. -- Konig/talk 02:23, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Gremlins[edit]

They look like gremlins. Dont let them near water. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 19:22, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Stitch[edit]

No...they look like Stitch from the Disney movie Lilo & Stitch...very much like Stitch. Also, am I the only one that wishes they looked more like the concept art by Doug Williams? — Rith Ignite Arrows.jpg 19:59, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Also, they look like Leroy from Leroy & Stitch there's about 3 stitch movies that I have found and got for my little girl, featuring our Disney pal, Stitch... I don't think they're hairy enough to be a gremlin. I wonder if they(the Asurans) can pull a stitch and hide their arms... Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 09:03, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

while I do not share the belief that they look like stich. I do think that the trivia note on the main page should be edited to appear a bit more formal and a bit less like a random user statment. 173.210.22.2 03:00, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Lifespan[edit]

Is there any documentation stating the lifespan of the Asura? --Ravencroft0 07:46, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes, one of the most recent interviews with Anet. Ree said that the asura have 5-10% longer lifespan than humans, and that an exceptional asura lifespan is about 120 years. -- Konig/talk 08:23, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Last names[edit]

Do they have them? Otherwise names for them will be hard in GW2?

Ugly, ugly, ugly.[edit]

I've stayed silent about this for a while, but I just want to throw my two cents in that I feel anyone who says asurans are cute are blind. These little hairless rabbit-rats are downright repulsive to me, and that they act so superior to all other species just makes them that much easier to hate. Plus, they'll be even worse in GW2. Look at the screenshots, ugly, bulgey eyed abominations with male-pattern baldness. Have fun all you hairless little miscreants, I'll be enjoying my time in GW2 as a Charr, or Norn. PariahUser Pariah Pariahmoa.pngtalk 02:27, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

/Agree "But they're cute racists. - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 15:01, 29 October 2007 (UTC)" --Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon6.png 14:49, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Hopefully they'll let you edit you're characters facial proportions during character creation (I.E. eye proportions). I like the design of the original asuras in gw but the gw2 design is hideous.--me
/Agree The artwork looks cute/cool, but I don't find the in game models appealing. Perhaps closer to scary looking alien like.
/Agree I think the first endgame goal of GW2 should in fact be purging the Asuras.

Names[edit]

will they let us only have 1 name in gw2 and is there name limit 5 letters :O--User Ickoization sig icon.png Ickoization 00:36, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Don't think any info has been given, but why would they be limited?--Mora 00:39, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Well it's be shown in the demos that single names are possible, but this could change in the actual release. source, 1:22 I'm Squirrel 21:22, 14 November 2010 (UTC)
Didn't know this was the GW2 wiki. 8D -- Konig/talk 01:03, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Resemblance to Harry Potter's House Elves[edit]

IMO they bear a resemblance to the House Elves as portrayed in the films: e.g. [1] 209.195.64.237 02:33, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
