uhh this isnt overpowered lmao
So your disabling yourself for five seconds so you can shut down another opponent for six seconds max? It's not the best option but can be used for spike I guess if you want to make yourself worthless for that time being.William Wallace 09:13, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Heres a tip, being Me, before attacking with your staff a melee, Empathy the melee, Blackout, then attack with your staff for more damage per second, if its a W better, stupify him with Blackout.--ShadowFog 16:33, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- Uh... no. That's probably one of the worst uses for Blackout ever. -Auron 16:35, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- na...yes. You gotta try this method now, its a good use.(Word count same as Auron)--ShadowFog 16:40, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- Blackout is a trade-off. You only use it when the disable hurts the other guy more than it hurts you. Using empathy and proceeding to wand is a really bad method of mesmering, and only works on AI/terrible warriors. Using it to prevent a monk from healing his team when they're under heavy degen pressure, to drain adrenaline from an about-to-spike war, to stop an enemy snare ele from spamming gust/shackles on your relic runner... all those are trade-offs in your favor. If you're just trying to get into a pissing contest with a single warrior, use ineptitude/clumsiness. -Auron 17:06, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have to say you are shooting at the right point of Blackout. Blackout can be a powerful tool on the right hands. The statement I was making with using Empathy is just one tip and one tip only, using it against a melee while there are other better targets is bad choice, although you pretty hit the nail on head, scenario(already tried): an Assassin(or a weaker profesion trying to melee you) is chargin you(without counting any other factors,i.e.teammates,etc.) and since he deals far less damage then your staff, Empathy and Blackout and proceed to deal 11-22(staff) while Empathy deals him 46-52,dagger and staff speed:1.33secs=Empathy activation time, for 6 secs from 57-78 damage per 1.33, almost 285-390 damage, this is the thing I was talking about, it does greatly works(tried) against Thumpers, Touchers and Assassins. This is for DOMINATION mesmers only, if you are mixing with Illusion, stats are going to be too low to do this kind of damage.--ShadowFog 17:47, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

One problem with what you said, casters who stay in one spot attacking with wands in PVP always equals death for the caster.William Wallace 10:38, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
You gotta read William and read good, he said "...an Assassin(or a weaker profesion trying to melee you) is chargin you(without counting any other factors,i.e.teammates,etc.)", I think he meant when the time is right, duh!.--65.23.206.31 01:04, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

- was a fake update. Lost-Blue 23:16, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Blackout would function correctly if it only disabled spells... - Vik 01:03, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Best use for blackout would be to hex oponents Casters/Attackers then snare and blackout oposing monk in my opinion anyway--85.225.130.11 08:29, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
