21 Blood Magic[edit]

Maybe this article could gives specifics on how 21 Blood Magic is attainable. I don't know myself, if I did I would've added it. Haku Banish 02:45, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Well, i can only figure out how to get 20, but i havent looked into it yet...--24.107.9.33 23:26, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
You can go higher. 12+1+3 Blood Magic (16). Then, Awaken the Blood takes you to 18. Golden Egg takes you to 19. Grail of Might takes you to 20. Blessing from a shrine of Grenth can take you to 21. Candy Corn which can take you to 22. Than 04:43, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Life-stealing and Damage Modifiers[edit]

moved from User Talk:Gaile Gray

Oiyo. I figure the main feeling behind the blood magic field is that it's already just too powerful, but I was wondering, and this WOULD be more fair...

No matter what I put on me for damage modifiers, my blood magic always does the same damage. 20%+ damage I do to demons 'cuz of lightbringer, but still my blood magic does the same damage. I was wondering if there was any plans to make life stealing count as damage, particularly because shadow damage is modified by this. :X) Vael Victus 15:21, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I suspect that if you change the functionality of a damage type like that, you'll get tons of complication. For example, I'm sure that "doing damage" will trigger all kinds of skills that protect against damage, or punish damage-givers. I think it would be much easier to just make those skills get a bonus from lightbringer. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 15:34, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Such a change to such a widely used game mechanic would require a massive skill balancing, which they probably want to avoid, since skills that do life stealing often do less damage than similiar skills that do normal damage since it bypasses armor and most protections. Also, the difference in life stealing verus normal damage is really a good difference, nto something that should be modified. -- Gem (gem / talk) 15:36, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Life Stealing may not do additional damage, but it also doesn't deal less damage to highly armored targets and like was said before, it bypasses a lot of protection skills. Add the fact that it heals you as well, and it is actually rather good. It becomes even more effective in Hard Mode, where everything has more armor. The downside of not dealing more damage is only a downside in low level PvE and when combining it with certain skills like the one you mentioned. When it comes to dealing damage, you need a spell that deals more than twice the life you steal in damage to cause the same health loss to a Paragon, Ranger or Warrior. That is quite a lot. The Problem I think is blood magic is a too narrow field, too many duplicate skills which essentially just do the same thing, if there were only a few lifesteal skills blood spike wouldn't be a problem. It's also no surprise that the Blood magic skills that aren't direct lifesteal are also more commonly used (I'm talking Blood ritual, Dark Bond, Strip enchantment, and also Orders back in their hayday).--Ckal Ktak 19:43, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Blood Spikes are a joke!![edit]

If you lose against a blood spike it is your own fault because they are so easy to counter. All you have to do is split and play as the best class in the game which are dervishes and since almost all of the blood magic skills have a two second casting time you just go up to anecromance and spam three of your attack skills and it's dead and move on to the next one. Also another thing you have to remember is that blood magic is so weak and steals so little health you can decimate a blood spike just by using an elementalist fire magic spike and wipe out the entire blood magic team before they can take a team member of yours down. Blood spikes are very easy to counter and should not even be considered a spike whatsoever.William Wallace 03:24, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Clearly you weren't one of the ones unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of Pact Spike before the early nerf. Melee professions would be ripped to shreds before they could even get in range. --SoraMitsukai 18:28, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Vampiric Gaze, Angorodon's Gaze, Blood of the Aggressor, Awaken the Blood, Dark pact, Vampiric Spirit (and so on) are viable Bllod magic spells without you 2 seconds. And if those are easy to counter what's an elementalist with Epidemic and Lightning Flash?Noctarch 23:15, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

One thing to bear in mind[edit]

hell, when will players not devoted to this attribute line EVER understand that life stealing is NOT damage. If people understood that all these information about piercing through protection prayers and damage increasement were redundant. Noctarch 01:03, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

To clarify what the guy above me wrote: Blood magic is based on life STEALING (armor ignoring and not even damage) which means that you do the specified injury regardless of your enemy's armor. It doesn't trigger monk bonding protections, doesn't notice armor. And you do it from a distance. And if most of the time heals you as an added bonus. And some of it heals your allies too! Give me blood magic over elemental damage any time I'm up against a ranger; I'll be much more effective. Ditto against an earth ele with one of the armors or some of the wards up. If you still doubt, go fight a pack of Angorodon and tell me blood magic is under-powered.

Playing against Bspam is really becoming really boring and gay. I mean even if you win you dont feel the same success as beating a good balanced guild. Bspam is practically ruining PvP imo because PvP is suppose to be about the skills of the players not the bar of the players. Bspam takes no skill what so ever, its as easy as 3 2 1 and press the buttons repeatedly till the target dies. I just think Bspam needs total nerfing. Its over powered, over used and over gay to play against. (it takes the fun outta the game)74.32.170.162 08:10, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

PvP Tag Missing[edit]

Can someone add the "(PvP)" tag to the second entry of "Unholy Feast" in the list please. Magic User Magic Icon.jpg Talk 17:55, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

I read through how to change the templates. It took me a couple tries, but I got it. FloppyJoe 18:49, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
