75 ectos ? really? a bad joke? Biz 12:30, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- The note about them looking identical for every profession...is that confirmed? Because so far glacial gauntlets don't look the same on mesmers as they do on others. Mesmer glacial gauntlets end abruptly at the wrist and don't cover any of the forearm. :( --74.114.199.139 14:49, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, 75 ectos! BTW, they look plenty good and unique, plus expensive, lol! --NeHoMaR

Not worth 75 ectos IMO, all they basically do is dye your hands white. --Doom 18:45, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- ^Agree^ its about as insane as setting 250 destroyer cores for Destroyer Gauntlets. Biz 19:07, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- well, but your char will be as flashy as if you'd wear a chaos axe^^ could be annoying after longer time, but you'll be conspicuous :P —Zerpha

I think someone should mention they dye like a chaos axeRaginMoto 06:37, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Then dye it white to be blinded or black to be almost transparent -elviondale (tahlk) 12:50, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- I dyed mine pink and something went wrong, dyed them red+purple+purple and you can see part of my arm through the shiny bit, looks like hands been amputated T_T. Ah well, still looks ok. Can supply a pic if needed, Slaphead Monk
It looks kinda like The Devil Bringer from DMC4, but with both hands lol
Ooooo ghost hands71.222.47.119 10:25, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
75 ectos? Fuck that... --90.202.255.35 17:16, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Jeez, why did they put this price on some "decent" hand art? It could have been useful otherwise as a fun gimmick, because that's all it feels like -- a fun gimmick. Not an awesome new armor/equipment or anything, with that price. -- Jonas N 07:44, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- It is only in-game currency and if you don't like them don't buy them. There are always going to be some people who like an item and others who don't. It is just a sad fact of life. What price would you put on them? I personally like them but they don't go well with any of my armor so I probably won't get it. About the only thing i could see putting them on(for me personally) is my Rit. AndersTheBloody 02:41, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hmph, tha guy should have a use account here, hate it when they cuss on the wiki...anyway, if it werent for the 75 ectos id buy it...maybe...--Raph

This is an extremely nice piece of armor. First time I saw one of those, I actually wrote a bug report to tell them something was wrong with the armor graphics! :D Yet I can imagine my assassin swinging his daggers – all my enemies could see would be a glowing and whirling cloud of… pure ectoplasm. --80.145.174.62 18:55, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mesmer Version
Did SB get a picture of the Mesmer Gloves? These look always diffrent, don't they? Mesmers have only little gloves for the hands. —Zerpha
The Improver 14:17, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- Simply because mesmers have sleeves. :D -
Drago 20:35, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
so mesmers will get them half price right :D --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:65.101.72.137 .
- So what's the deal? Only the hands for Mesmers then? Anyone who could confirm this? BlazeRick 09:05, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
nay, they all have the same gloves, i saw one in EotN, sorry that i cant confirm with screenshot ~ Abbadon

- I think they fail...but I don't mind other people wasting their money on them. Lord of all tyria 20:37, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
its just the same as getting obsidian armor considering it has the same defence bonus as armor u can pay 4 - 6k for

- It's called a gold sink, and it's a little more than just dying your hands white... -AyaStowar
- Sure looks like dying your hands white... Ugly. --fraught · (talk) 18:46, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Whats the prob if you think it just looks like dying your hands. You dont have to buy these if you dont like them. Some ppl do, and they are willing to use 75 ectos to these, looks cool & rich ofcourse. And yes, it is a gold sink. I wonder whats the next one, i already have these, obsis and tormented weapon. I want something cool, looking rich rocks. Limu Tolkki 15:52, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Gold sinks work best if people really want to get the produced items though. ;-) -- Jonas N 00:59, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

I have them, it took me awhile to build up the ecto, but I feel they are totally worth it. They look amazing with a monk dyed blue. As I was saying, it took awhile to build up the ecto, but I have nothing else to spend money on, I have already gotten every skill in the game, and ideal weapons for my main character and heros. Are they expensive, yes. Are they attainable, yes. Are they worth while........that is up to each person. Med Luvin 16:25, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
these + monk FoW + mask of the mo zing is hawt ^^--207.172.193.204 08:18, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Has anyone tried what these salvage into?

[edit] Salvages
I salvaged some to see what they turn into, found out ^_^.Quetzal 21:40, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- O.o so what do they turn into when you salvage them? I've had people tease me, asking me to salvage mine. Noo way. §Azhure Sun Soar 10:52, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- People don't tease you becouse they want to know what it will be, they tease you becouse they don't have 75 ectos to waste. One item can remain with no salvage data as far as I'm concerned. Biz 11:04, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'd assume it's something like Obsidian armor. Ecto or dust. §Azhure Sun Soar 11:13, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Crafted items always salvage into one of their materials needed to craft them afaik, so you're right, they'll likely either turn into dust or ectoplasm. —Zerpha
The Improver 11:31, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Can you imagine if they crafted into dust? Haha pwnt! User:Mara Scythestorm
- It could be A LOT of dust.
- My friend salvaged it with sup salvage kit, and he got nothing xD Mr HaXx
- Impossible. Did he bother to look in the chat log to see what it salvaged into? Anything salvageable will always produce something when the item is destroyed... did he perhaps have some Glittering Dust or Ectos in his inventory already, and then got more of them from the salvage but didn't notice as they went into those pre-existing stacks? If you don't see what you got from a salvage, always check the chat log for the details. ~

[edit] Dye
I noticed some speculation about how these gloves dye in above sections, but it doesn't look like anyone actually provided any clarification, and the article page just mentions that they are "Fully dyable".
I'll attempt to provide some helpful information pertaining to this below.
They do not dye in the same backwards fashion that the Chaos Axes do, and where as putting Black on a Chaos Axe will result in a cool ghostly-transparent effect, you cannot obtain the same result on these gloves... and putting on a color such as purple will result in the gloves glowing purple.
Like many, I'm not a big fan of these gloves. I find them to be too bright in most instances and I personally think they look much more fitting on say a Monk, than they do on a Warrior.
However, if you want the gloves but don't want them to be so bright/glary, you can dim the glow down a lot with the use of Black Dye. One black dye doesn't help much, but two of them can effectively dull the glow down significantly. Then you can add in a third color for a lesser amount of glow. Using two black dyes and a silver will result in a dim bluish glow (less bright than two blacks and a blue), where two blacks and a gray will result in a very low amount of glow with a mild purple tint.
Personally I found the two black and one gray to be the ideal balance for dimming the glow down but still leaving a nice effect, and as such I use this combination on all my Chaos Gloves.
I realize the above information is less helpful in text than an actual screen-shot of the gloves with the various dyes applied would be, but given the extent of the different effects you can obtain via applying multiple dyes to these gloves, it would be hard to make a collage style image with only the basic colors and not be compelled to include the more interesting combinations of dye as well. Perhaps if I have time I'll attempt to assemble such an image for reference for those considering the purchase of these gloves and then post it in the item's article. When I might accomplish this task is very hard to say, so if anyone else feels they'd like to take a shot at it instead, please don't let me intentions to do it eventually dissuade you from the task. ;) ~

[edit] A Price that Matches the Ego
90% of the people i see with these thing have at least a people know me title, and another full set of elite armor (most of the time FoW armor). either they have been saving up for 3 years on ectos (i highly doubt it, since no1 even knew what they were saving up for) or they really need to get out more. waaaay too egotistical for me. id rather spend that kind of money on a FULL armor set. elite luxon ftw!!xDValion Sentis 03:03, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- Bah, you get People know me and have several 15k armor sets or fow, most expensive weapon(s) of its time JUST by playing casually since Prophecies. People are faced with the fact that they have hundreds of thousands with out anything to spend it on then a single armour peace comes along where for some 300k you get something that for some professions even looks good. Biz 06:22, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- I don't play GW allot and when I do play I multitask, like surfing the web, developing my program and such and I still got enough money to buy FoW armor in a week. I'm saving for the Chaos Gloves for my warrior because I think that it looks great with Chaos Axe + Eternal Shield/Tormented Shield (the first axe is blue and the second is purple). But you're right, I also do it for the rep.--Itamar
