Update broke the page?

It's March 3. There's been an update, and we have ZM = Augury Rock, not Riverside Province. Redhame 05:22, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

 • Allegedly they've added Pogahn Passage to the ZM rota, and this has invalidated the current wiki predictions. I see we have a brand new Pogahn Passage (Zaishen quest) page here now to match. Morgaine 06:16, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
 • Interestingly, the change happened not on a ZM switchover boundary, but halfway through the day. One of my characters was lacking only Riverside Province for Legendary Guardian and I happened to get that ZM earlier in the day to kill two birds with one stone. It surprised me when I saw it change to Augury Rock on the same day. Some people who needed Riverside Province but live in a later timezone will have missed their chance in this round. Morgaine 06:25, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
The second point is normal, it was always like that when they did something that reset the cycle. poke | talk 21:39, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

ZV

Is there going to be a column added for the daily Zaishen Vanquish? Thanks... --Fred5283 14:37, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

...and maybe Langmar's quests as well ? 84.101.140.84 19:09, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Okay, apart from the errors (which will disappear over the next days/weeks), any idea what to do, to make this table smaller? Right now nearly every line has line breaks (1280px wide screen), and that definitely needs to be fixed.. I'm currently thinking about splitting pre- and post-searing related things, but some people might not be too happy about that.. (given that it is no longer the same single table); so any other ideas? poke | talk 21:37, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Zaishen and non-zaishen? --JonTheMon 21:43, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
 • Others: Nick S, Vanguard, Weekend event, Nick Traveler
 • Zaishens: Zish, zombat, zounty, & Zanquish.
Works for me.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:58, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
PVE and PVP? (would only split zaishen combat but that should already do the trick)109.130.14.198 14:08, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
I like the idea of splitting on pre/post, but Zaishen/non-zaishen works for me as well... I guess it comes down to what criteria things are grouped by; pre/post seems sensible to me since being in pre is a very particular distinguishing feature. OTOH, the zaishen rewards are quite specific, and common to all the Zs. Just my 0.02€ -- Splodge of Cat 08:25, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Is there a way to show postsearing activities only?

I think there should be a way for people to see just the postsearing activities (in addition to this page which shows everything).--24.45.47.32 18:05, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

See the very related discussion above. poke | talk 19:14, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
It is very simple to make copy of the list and select the columns, as I did on my talk page [ Pino 13:17, 12 March 2011 (UTC) ]

At what time do the daily activities change?

Just wondering... I never get it right. Is it at midnight? And if so, in what timezone? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Esgeron (talk) at 18:05, 06 March 2011 (UTC).

The dates are UTC dates, and the listed quests are those that get published on that listed day; nevertheless the bold quests are always those that are available right now. poke | talk 21:14, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Yes ok UTC, but at what time do the quests and stuff get replaced? Is it at 00:00? At 18:00? Esgeron 19:35, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Most at 16 UTC; please refer to the actual quest type articles for information... poke | talk 20:03, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Yes I see it now thank you. I then suggest that the Daily activities page should include the time in addition to the date! Since not all of them change at 16 UTC. Esgeron 18:52, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
We do not know a way of adding the times without causing the table to have too much information such that it is difficult for many wiki users to read (due to line wrapping and other problems).--War_Pig5 20:55, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I've expanded the notes at the top to include the time changes (which are mostly the same; the exception is Nicky in pre).  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:24, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Whether or not to merge this page with a page that doesn't work

My vote is that we don't merge this working page with any nonworking page. Furthermore I feel that the merge suggestion should be removed until such time as the other page works.--War_Pig5 20:58, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

My vote is that you follow the link to the discussion and discuss it there. poke | talk 21:25, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Something odd about this page

Its 7:43 UTC, I'm standing in front of Nick. He's asking for Gargoyle Skulls. This page claims Unnatural Seeds, even after purge. I tried rezoning, just in case. Still off by one. Any ideas? 66.170.212.17 07:44, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

That's weird. Can you check next time what item is shown on the Main Page or Nicholas Sandford? poke | talk 15:07, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
15:17 UTC - Main and Sanford pages say (correctly) Gargoyle Skulls, this page still states Unnatural Seeds for March 13. I purged all 3 pages. Let's see what happens at 16:00 66.170.212.17 15:19, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Okay yes, I see the error and know why it happens.. It will be difficult to fix this though. Thank you for reporting the issue :) poke | talk 15:31, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
No problem. I appreciate your tremendous work in this wiki. Cheers! 66.170.212.17 15:36, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Aha! The whole Sanford column just shifted by one day, correcting itself, presumably as of 16:00 UTC. Thar be some clever leprechauns at work. Yarr! 66.170.212.17 16:13, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
The Leprechauns don't work for several hours while certain parts of the planet are switching to Daylight Savings Time.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:43, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi sorry to bring this up again, but either the leprechauns have been working over time, or this is just wrong. I am at Nick. The page says that he's currently collecting Dull Carapaces, for the 18th, however it is already past the tick over time of the 18th and he's collecting belts. This entire thing is just wrong, people are changing this list way before it is ready, and the list appears to off by one day anyway.

I cleared the cache to be sure, but it's saying the same thing. Dull carapaces won't be collected until 7AM on the 19th.124.171.90.126 14:06, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm standing before Nicholas and he's accepting Unnatural Seeds, like is mentioned on http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Nicholas_sandford. In the list however it says he wants Enchanted Lodestones, guess that's one for tomorrow. It's not a time problem, because now it's 15:00 UTC and he should change at 7:00 UTC. Someone has the same problem?

ICS

Someone really should set up some sort of ICS feed you can sync with for this. It's portable enough to go into any calendar. --20:46, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Good idea, will do when I'm bored.. poke | talk 21:11, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Are the times correct?

I've checked Nicholas item on main page and Daily activities at 06:59UTC and 07:01 UTC, purging Daily actvities cache both times : at 06:59 UTC, Daily activities is correct (Skeletal Limbs on both pages), but at 07:01UTC Main page displays Red Iris flowers (correct), and Daily activies says Charr carvings (tomorrow's item). I'm pretty sure both will be correct at 16:00UTC. I'll try to check and edit my contribution. Maybe +16 and +7 offsets are both applied? Edit : 16:18UTC both pages are correct 79.90.26.61 07:18, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, that's somewhat known, although I don't really have an idea to fix it yet; see two sections above this. poke | talk 14:36, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

space-saving ideas

Some space could be saved by shortening the "Wanted" title and changing the nick item to singular. Any thoughts on this or other ideas? I've been getting positive feedback on my efforts to reduce the amount of wasted space on this page.--War_Pig5 23:31, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Reducing “Shining Blade” to “Wanted” won't help at all, as the header cell is not wider than the content (as such it doesn't matter). And changing quest or item names is not possible without affecting many other pages.. poke | talk 07:11, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
That column was "Wanted by the Shining Blade" at the time I suggested changing it to "Wanted." TEF changed it to "Shining Blade" the next day. I did not suggest changing quest names. This page replaces the item names with plural item names. That replacement is done in this page's code ("") not in the templates, so removing it has no effect on other pages. --War_Pig5 17:20, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
I previewed removing the s from the pre-searing lines and (a) the shrinkage was tiny and (b) it didn't look right to me.
The other thing that could reduce the table width would be more difficult: using abbreviations for the longer boss names, e.g. Greves instead of Greves the Overtalkative. But that would take modifying how the data is stored and presented. I've done this for my personal tracking spreadsheets and the width-reduction is substantial.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:37, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
Sorry War Pig, totally didn't notice that o.O - Anyway, I plan to split the page into pre- and post-searing, as discussed above.. While that might not be the perfect solution (given that people might be interested in everything), it's still an actually working possibility.. poke | talk 19:50, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
Has anyone already created a page of Daily poststearing activities? I want to create one in my userspace but I don't yet have the time. Also if it has already been done I don't want to duplicate work.--War_Pig5 21:40, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Check out User:Kirbman/Calendar (not exactly what you are looking for, but an excellent page nonetheless).
Also, from looking at what links to the templates you want, you can find...
User:Valshia/Sandbox, User:SilentStorm/Zest and, of course, User:War_Pig5/Daily_postsearing_activities

(Silent's page is no different than Zaishen Challenge Quest) poke | talk 07:36, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the WhatLinksHere tip; I'll check those dozens of results before I spend a lot of time making my Daily_postsearing_activities userpage into what its title says.--War_Pig5 02:13, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

mid-June

so were close to that mid june time table any idea as to when we can say thats back on track?-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 20:33, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

We can probably remove the note now. We've gone through a full cycle since Augury Rock in March (when the latest cycle started); the mid-June was an extra cushion of time, in case it randomized again. Since it didn't, I think we are safe in our Mish predictions. (Thanks for spotting this, Zesbeer.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:05, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
no problem... i check this page reg just to see whats coming...-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 21:43, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Zaishen Vanquish cycle

With 136 total areas to vanquish, a full rotation should take approximately four and a half months, so prediction of quests starting from 17 July 2011 is not right and might be confusing. Egerius 15:51, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Zaishen Vanquish/cycles has 136 rows. The first day for potential repeats is 17 July. The top of Daily activities has a caveat that the predictions might not be fully confirmed until late July, a less specific date that allows time to watch the second cycle start and gives us a week to decide if it will follow the same pattern. (Arguably, it's probably enough to wait until 19 July, since it's very unlikely that the cycle will repeat three days but not the other 133.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:47, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanx for explanation. Egerius 16:55, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Some VQs missing?

Bukdek Byway is missing from the VQ-list now? Nick 11:08, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Er, no. It's right there, at 11-06-24 and 11-11-07. -- Hong 09:19, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) It's because the Daily activities table is set to show the next 69 days of daily activities (since there are 69 Zaishen Mission quests), while there are 136 Zaishen Vanquish quests. The table could be extended to display the next 136 days to be able to view all the Zaishen Vanquish quests, which would make the table twice as long. For the time being, you can view Zaishen Vanquish/cycles to see the upcoming Zaishen Vanquish quests that don't appear on the Daily activities page. --Silver Edge 09:34, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Getting Ahead?

So far the *order* of what Nicholas Sandford asks for each day has managed to be consistent but is off on the days, such as displaying that he is asking for Gargoyle skulls on July 26, 2011 - when he is actually asking for Icy Lodestones. Since I'm pretty much computer illiterate, could anyone clarify the reason or fix this?

There's a bug with the code we are using that only affects him around the hour that his request changes. You might have to refresh the cache (link on the article itself) to see the correct request. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:10, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Grawl Hunt

For extra credit anyone care to work out the next time Fozzy and Utini will next coincide as bounties after today? Robdalf 17:48, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

The ZBounty cycle has 66 quests, the Vanguard has 9. Least common multiple of 66 and 9 is 198, so it should happen again after 198 days. poke | talk 22:47, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Nick

Unless I am mistaken, this week (Dec 5, 2011) is the EXACT SAME as his original place(Regent Valley for Red Iris Flowers). Has he visited all the haunts? If he continues to visit his previous ones we could add him to this page. Me And My Sin

This is better off here, since he's not even listed on this page. Konig/talk 03:43, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Why can't we have a weekly activities page here too?

I know that as of now all I can think of is nick's items--but I hate having to go through a couple of clicks when it could be right on this page too which I have bookmarked. Why has this been opposed so strongly in the past? djk 15:35, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

This page shows predictions. We have those for daily activities, but not for Nick; we have no idea of what he'll do next week. Weekend event predictions are covered under weekend events. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:58, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Well that makes a lot more sense. What about a "See also" section at the bottom or a category that encompasses both? (Also thanks for the link!) djk 22:15, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
You do know that the current Nick item, the current daily quests, the current weekend event, and the current monthly flux are all right on the front page of the wiki, right? Or if you prefer something a bit less busy, you could just bookmark Main Page/activities - Tanetris 23:29, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
