Original capitol?[edit]

Do we know that Drascir was the first capitol of Ascalon? King's Watch seems like a plausible candidate for a prior capital. -- Gordon Ecker 09:38, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

King's Watch isn't a town. It's just a monument where they hold coronations, right? Capitals have to be cities. RitualRitualistDoll 08:13, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
The Cities of Ascalon quest dialogue refers to King's Watch as a city, and the ruins of wooden buildings would have had more than enough time to decay. -- Gordon Ecker 04:25, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
King;s watch is not a city "King's Watch is an important place in Regent Valley between Fort Ranik and Sardelac Sanitarium. It was founded on the 95th day of 1 AE, early in the Season of the Phoenix, at the site where King Doric, the first king of Ascalon, was crowned over a century earlier." Drascir was the pre-presearing Capital, replaced by Rin, which in turn fell. By noteing this area as having an portal to the rift, we can only assume this is one of the ways into UW in GW2, if the area is not completely over run with Charr due to Ruricks dumbassness of letting the charr know "hey! were gonna open a gate and map into nolani, u can come attack us and were just gonna abandon our capital city" (SPOILER ALERT: we follwed this guy across a frozen wasteland which ended with him being Be-headed w/o a figh), in hind sight perhaps Aldelbern wouldnt be a ghost if captian QQ didnt lead our best warriors away from the fight! fin. If that portal wasn't retcon'd out between beta and release, the charr would of had it by the time of the Searing. Also, the portal closed behind Rurik and the group. And honestly, Ascalon was doomed whether Rurik left or not - and if he didn't, then guess who would be ruling. -- Konig/talk 17:34, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Rift Portal?[edit]

How do we know this? 71.145.155.219 22:27, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

The Rift (story), and Lord Victo. In a nutshell, Lord Victo enters the rift from where he is, Drascir. Hasaple 05:55, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

The Searing[edit]

Was Drascir taken over by the charr before The Searing or after it? I assume it was before, but I'm not sure. Maskeus 17:35, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Hard to tell, as Surmia, which isn't far from Drascir, wasn't taken over by the charr until after the Searing. But the area was pretty much in constant warfare. -- Konig/talk 09:00, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
I have another theory. I think Drascir was destroyed at the third guild war or even before. There are many dialogues hinting at it. First of all Breena Stavinson says, that she observed the road south of Drascir now for ten years and saw the Sacred Flame ritual many times. That implies, that the area south of Drascir was used for rituals for more than two years, so even before the searing. This seems very unlikely possible if Drascir was still under controle of the Ascalonians. The next hint is given by Flaming Scepter Mage Danan who says The mouthpiece was lost during the last Guild War, but now that it has been found [...]. The mouthpiece of Stormcaller monument wasn't that well hidden on a podium inside the royal academy in Drascir. So if Drascir was still populated after the last Guild war ended, it wouldn't be "lost". It seems more likely, that the city gets destroyed or at least evacuated in a hurry during the last guild war, leaving many things (like powerful magical artifacts) behind. Another quote from Danan underlines this: "If only we'd found Stormcaller before the Searing". I think there is no doubt left after this sentence. I think the charr just found the unpopulated or even destroyed city and repopulated it quickly. User:Konig Des Todes - I think you are a big lore enthusiast, so I'm very interested about your opinion on this topic.--89.1.209.26 08:43, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
