"Festiveness"[edit]

Where on earth did this term come from and how on earth are new players supposed to know that this relates to the number of points something contributes to the title track. I am posting this here beacuse of a redirect from "Festiveness" on the Macabre Tonic article when I noticed the "This tonic adds one point to the Party Animal title track" note was removed, which I consider to be far more informative than a "Festiveness" value, which as far as I can tell relates to nothing in game. As you can see in the file history, this term was dragged from an official update note. The expression describes the purpose of these items quite good in my opinion, being related to the party animal title track. Tonics give points toward this title, therefore are treated as "festive item".
The note informed about a characteristic that was part of every festive item, hence it go replaced for a line that shows the points given to the title was added to the {{item infobox}}. For this, a short term was needed. A neologism was used, derived from the adjective of this term. If you have a better proposal that could be used for this word, you may suggest it on the template's talk. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 14:35, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I can understand Festive Item and I can see how Festive Item -> Festiveness, especially as I already know that tonics contribute to the Party Animal title track, but if I didn't know this I would have no idea what "Festiveness" meant, especially if I hadn't seen one of the edits. Perhaps following the precedent set by alcohol (intoxication level) would be a good idea and using something like "Festive Points" or in my opinion preferably "Party Points". At the very least a definition of "Festiveness" should be added to this article, as I understand "Intoxication Level" is defined on the alcohol page. Misery 14:41, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Festiveness isn't really informative, and most articles still lists "x points to party animal" in the notes. I would prefer a more obvious name to that field in the infobox, or not including it at all. - anja talk 08:29, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
"Party points"? That's only 1 more character than "Festiveness" and is rather descriptive. --JonTheMon 13:59, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Party points sounds good to me, but I would be all for leaving the "x points to party animal" note as well as that is the least ambiguous way of saying it. Misery 14:03, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
But it looks like Zerpha is doing something along those lines as we speak.... Misery 14:04, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I changed the link behind the bar for Sweets and Festive items now. They link to the accordant titles rather than their item type now: "Sweetness" / "Festiveness". It should already be much clearer now. But "Party points" also doesn't sound bad - as i said, you may suggest it on the template talk. (For uniformity, "Sweetness" should be changed to "Sweet points" as well when changing it) —ZerphatalkThe Improver 14:16, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Um, we're talking about it here. Why move it there? --JonTheMon 14:19, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
It's about changing the template, therefore i think we should better leave a note there, as others possibly don't know that here's a discussion about it.
(When it's decided that those lines are informative enough, i suppose we can start exchanging the notes on the accordant pages for them) —ZerphatalkThe Improver 14:31, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Mischeivous Tonic needs to be added to this list

Template Suggestion[edit]

Perhaps there should be a 0 points category, to contain the everlasting versions? 99.52.94.71 02:28, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

I concur, especially since they appear on the "festive items" wiki page. 69.182.192.223 07:13, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Remove Everlasting[edit]

With the introduction of Hero Tonics and other updates, I propose removing all Everlasting versions of festival items, as they do not contribute to Party Animal (the reason this page exists), or moving them to Festive item/Everlasting. I am hesitant to add the 35 Everlasting 6th year tonics. --Falconeye 15:55, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
