Anomaly - Misnamed Pinesoul[edit]

I found a pinesoul in the middle of the map that was carrying the name "Black Bear" and displayed as Level 5 even though he is a regular pine (level 24 ranger). I got a screenshot, but I don't know how to upload. 64.32.249.154 13:47, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Thats a well known bug 90.211.187.95 18:37, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Actually it is not just the pinesoul... I fought for example a Avicara Guile and it was named Black Bear so I think it is just a glitch with Frozen Forest in general. --~Danger~ 12:11, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Actually it is a bug across all the games often associated with holding down the alt key that switches names between charm able animals and enemies. 68.6.168.4 22:44, 14 July 2012 (UTC) 3:43 &/14/2012

Mragga[edit]

I re-added the reference to this demon, mainly because it seems useful to have the skill-capturable (yikes, is that a word?) bosses of one area all together. (Ralmon the Gen 08:27, 23 December 2008 (UTC))

It's not part of the zones spawns, but part of The Hero's Challenge. You must of had that quest active. Backsword 17:10, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Whether I had the quest active or not is not the point. You are removing useful information about possible skill captures (even in a more radical way in Sorrow's Furnace. The information about it only being available during an active quest was actually mentioned in given. In fact, this is done in many places (see for example Mineral Springs).
My understanding of a wiki's purpose is for it to be useful. I may be wrong in that belief, but feel one should not have to jump through hoops to get useful info from it. Having info like this helps with capture planning. If I view a wiki page for an area I'm planning on exploring, having this little extra info helps prepare for a potential capture.
That being said, I added it back in, and perhaps the users could discuss this, and provide some reason it should not be there (perhaps there is some information curbing policy I am not aware of). (Ralmon the Gen 18:50, 24 December 2008 (UTC))
I also don't think we should remove NPCs if they only spawn there as part of a quest. As far as I know, no formatting guide says to do so. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 19:03, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Ok, reading through the guide came up with Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/Locations#NPCs, which says not to list quest-specific NPCs (i.e. those that only appear during a specific circumstance). That's a little silly, in my opinion, so I'll bring something up at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Locations; it's been brought up before, but apparently with little feedback. Another try won't hurt though. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 19:14, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Interestingly, from the history of the link you mentioned, it appears this policy was added on October 24. Perhaps that is why the older, more useful format is still available on various pages. Sad, and I wish I understood the reasoning. (Ralmon the Gen 19:50, 24 December 2008 (UTC))
Statements like the quest being irrelavant and think you could capture when exploring is what I'm trying to address here. The quest matters, you can not capture the skill while exploring, you must do the quest.
And less rethoric please. If one was to take you seriously, you'd want all info on the wiki move to the main page. Backsword 18:46, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Goodness, I seem to have stirred up something. Of course, I don't want all info on the main page. There is nothing I said that should lead to that exaggerated assumption. I'm not sure what rhetoric it was that caused me to upset you, but I apologize. Unfortunately, I do need to point out that I did, in fact, explore the area (for Tyrian Cartographer title), and complete the quest in the same run. Knowing there was an elite skill to be captured was useful information for the area, influenced my exploration preparation, and was the basis of my initial addition.
You deleted my (one liner) information twice without comment. What was I to think? However, that's fine. Thanks to Brains12, I have now learned about the relevant NPC policy which was added just 2 months ago. Although I don't agree with it, I have commented the offending Mragga line out. Please understand, I don't have a beef with you, it is the policy. You did the right thing, although a comment might have been nice <wink>. (Ralmon the Gen 03:39, 26 December 2008 (UTC))
Regardless of what the formatting page states, a one-line reference to a quest that occurs in the area IS appropriate and should have been left in. Backsword is being uptight, which I can tolerate when it is productive. In this case, it is not. He should just leave the page alone. Pucktrapper 21:21, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Vanqing[edit]

309 foes in 1hr 35min H/h (no mm). I loathed doing this map knowing the southwest corner was crawling with dwarves. I got there and hit the ctrl key and I just about cried. What looked like one huge effing mob was really ~5 teams of, 1 monk ~3 rangers & ~ 1-2 warriors. Watch the patrols and you can pick them off one ata time with no deaths and zero risk. Another area nearby was the same story and was justs a matter of long pulls to prevent over aggro. If doing H/h dont piss with running through ice floe for infused henchies...the jades come in small groups of 3 and theres like 10-15 on the map total. Heros can kill them alone if your afraid Lina has gotten less liberal with PS in the last 5years. Justice 20:37, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Can be done in less than an hour with 7 heroes. 54mins, 314 foes. Just be careful about overaggroing the dwarves in the SW part of the map. 68.204.222.7 00:00, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
312 foes also in about 1hr24min. Also spent a great deal of wasted time searching for SouthWest stone summit patrols who circle the small little area and I overlooked on my way out of this corner of the map, the went around up the hill while i cleared out the lower section and were standing in an area I had previously cleared only minutes beforehand. Hopefully someone finds this useful. Puk 06:07, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Don't know exact time, but I did a vanquish in under an hour facing 304 foes using 7 heroes (SFway from gwpvx wiki) --142.161.163.14 19:58, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

"The name Frozen Forest is a bit of a misnomer, since there aren't a lot of trees here, frozen or otherwise"[edit]

kind of dumb considering the zone is filled with trees, many covered with snow. Where there are not trees there are stumps, also covered in snow. Zone is 1 of 2 Southern Shiverpeaks with plant bosses with this one having the most at 5. There is even a collector with the last name Treesplitter. But yeah, this wiki.
