Talk:Gaze of Fury

From Guild Wars Wiki

So, this skill is bugged. It doesn't always correctly target a stack of spirits. It's destroying the wrong one at times, regardless of what's targeted. Kirenne Starfire [Kw] 07:37, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I noticed the same bug. However, Gaze of Fury targets the correct spirit all the time as long as the spirit you are targeting is not near any other spirits.--Therobinator5000 17:38, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Nature rituals[edit]

Can this skill destroy a nature spirit and replace it? Also i was wondering is the 2 skills that teleport spirits under your control work on nature rituals as well. Can someone check this for me? --59.100.71.120 14:05, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

If this kills a Nature spirit, it will work. The name in both skills, spirit, implies spirits=spirits. I know Anet it's know for being careless in it's work but it should work, the teleport thing.--ShadowFog 13:44, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

buuuug![edit]

i dunno if this is new, but i've found that if you cast this on a person who is within casting range of a spirit, it will taget them, cast onthem, BUT kill teh spirit nearest them. Not sure how the ordering goes, but I would conjecture that it's the spirit nearest them. anyone else getting this? --User Timeoffire45 sig.jpg Timeoffire45 01:07, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Bug[edit]

With the new cast time it seems a bit...slow? When I use it to kill a spirit, I cast Gaze of Fury, the spirit stays alive for a second and THEN the skill occurs.Contributions/24.77.163.202 02:59, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

location[edit]

does the spirit spawn near you? Or were the old spirit was? 99.165.194.175 10:38, 10 April 2010 (UTC) <-- Sheon, I'm not logged in.

Spawns at the location where target spirit was destroyed... you can test this on The Isle of the Nameless. --Falconeye 04:34, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

hero use[edit]

my heroes don't seem to use this skill -- i can micro it, but they don't use it (at least against the targets i've been fighting in the jade sea area. (irujundi created spirits specifically --- sry spelling) 98.255.39.225

My heroes use it all the time. I assigned it to Xandra while clearing the Domain of Anguish, and she likes to use it against Spirits of Quickening Zephyr from the Margonite Anur Tuk without me having to tell her to. Actually, heroes use it more than I'd like. I cleared Rilohn Refuge using Winter to remove the +50% earth damage advantage, and Xandra decided that a Spirit of Fury was more valuable than removing a third of incoming damage, so she destroyed that spirit on her own. So, don't assign it to heroes unless you're in a spirit-heavy area or your spirits are non-essential or easily replaced. Blue Totoro 11:04, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Of note?[edit]

Just noticed that you can use this on avatars at shrines summoned using /kneel

Note on usage[edit]

The Spirit created by this skill will (if you have at least leveled your Channeling Magic to 1) last longer than it's recharge time. Therefore, you can cast Gaze of Fury on an already created Spirit of Fury and recycle the Spirit indefinitely, provided it is not killed beforehand.

If no enemy Spirits are accessible, the initial instance in which a Ritualist should create a Spirit of Fury should be done on one of his own Spirits that lasts longer than it's own recharge time and has at that moment already fully recharged. An example candidate of this would be Bloodsong. At 15 Channeling, Bloodsong will last 150 seconds. If the Spirit is still alive by the time it has recharged, use Gazy of Fury on it to create a Spirit of Fury, then recast Bloodsong, and your Spirit armada will have increased by one.

The above skill bar is what I consider most useful for general play as a Signet of Spirits user. Soldier198 (talk) 00:19, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

Assuming you're using SoS, it makes more sense to use Gaze of Fury on one of those spirits, and don't wait until it's recharged. You get an immediate upgrade (the Spirit of Fury is a higher level), and re-casting SoS costs no energy. Mist Y (talk) 09:57, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
That is a good a point that I did not think about. Also, I forgot that Gaze of Fury recharges in 20 second, and so my above point about investing at least one attribute point into Channeling Magic to make the Spirit of Fury last longer than it's recharge time is incorrect. Anomaly or bug?[edit]

There's an anomaly listed on this page, but shouldn't it instead be listed as a bug? I believe that, when skills behave in a significantly different way from what their description states, we usually treat it as a bug. -arnosluismans (talk) 16:34, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
