is this a refence to snl's Dick in a box? seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhwbxEfy7fg ?75.165.121.36 19:17, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Or it could be the ever-so-infamous jack-in-the-box, which is what that skit (which was actually pretty good (and the uncensored version used a word other than dick)) was based off of. calor (talk) 19:19, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

I think it's probably a reference to the anime "Ghost in the Shell". --65.78.146.216 06:04, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Yes defenitely. (Where you trivia people get your weird ideas sometimes, I don't know.) 145.94.74.23 12:11, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
If this can only be used in an outpost, how do you know it triggers soul reaping? Syntheticfibers 00:49, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Who says this can only be used in an outpost? Last time I used this kind of item (ok, this was quite some time ago) it was possible to use it in explorable areas. Balwin 11:31, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Party Animal Title Track[edit]

confirmed, this does contribute to party animale title track if someone wants to update that

Drop rate from ToTs?[edit]

Is it just me, or are these hard to get from the ToTs? Out of every 100 ToTs I get, only about 5-10 are Ghost-in-the-Boxes, yet about 60 are cookies and caramel apples. :(

Heh, scratch that, found the drop rate page. :x --68.214.72.32 04:16, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

PvP?[edit]

If you could use these in PvP, they would make Soul Reaping trigger each time they die, netting lots of energy for necros. Can you?

soul reaping energy gain[edit]

I see where the note was removed.... I tested again in the isle of the nameless.... After casting a few spell immediatly on entry I poped a ghost in the box... nothing happens until the ghost "dies" but then I benifited from soul reaping... MrPaladin talk 12:32, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Neither in Kamadan nor on the Plains of Jarin did it work for me. Then again, I only now just read the note on the SR page saying "You only gain energy when your energy is below maximum." Paddymew 13:21, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
yer that was probably the trick... I was sure to cast a few spells before releasing the ghost... MrPaladin talk 17:43, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Oh well. Do you know if you can use these in PvP? Paddymew 05:37, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
You can't use any special items in pvp except alcohol. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 05:46, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Oh right, because drinking won't affect your performance against other players AT ALL :P Paddymew 14:13, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

10s cooldown[edit]

The reason that a 10s cooldown was added to these had nothing to do with EoE. They left necrotic in the game for years and never cared until people used it to cap a flag before the match started in gvg. They did it because you could crash any instance by using 30ish stacks of them at once. People were taking down Kamadan randomly for several weeks. 76.127.242.82 08:19, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

To clarify. Unlike snowmen summoners and essentially every other consumable that has an animation, these actually create a creature. What happens when suddenly create 5,0000 creatures in an instance? The server chokes. 76.127.242.82 08:22, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
I see the note about SCs still didn't get removed... does anyone have a source that could clear this up? Mist Y (talk) 22:00, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
I've removed the note - someone can put it back if they have a source for the claim, or write the correct reason if they have a source for that. Mist Y (talk) 22:02, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
Not sure myself. Only thing I've seen have been screenshots / videos where gitbs were next to pcons in inventories, like this one. horrible | contribs 04:16, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
