Location and Items[edit]

Maybe u should add his location???

Well, in the interest of drop rate research, here's what I got. Sorry, I've no idea how to make tables. I opened 15 Gift of the Traveler. I got 2x 5 Mercantile Summoning Stone, 1x 5 Cottontail Tonic, 3x 5 Mysterious Tonic, 1x 10 Honeycomb, 2x 5 Blue Rock Candy, 1x 10 Jar of Honey, 2x 5 Red Rock Candy, 1x 10 Sparklers, 2x 1 Keg of Aged Hunter's Ale. i got a moss spider egg.--Justice 08:03, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, here's your table, LicensedLuny ... though with that many possible items it doesn't look very nice. User Xelonir sig.pngXelonir 08:40, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Xelonir! I figured it would wind up a pretty wide table, but any table is prettier and, more importantly, far more useful than everyone entering like I did. LicensedLuny 15:24, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Edited to add 1 Everlasting Cottontail Tonic. -- Minami Kaori

Edited the table to add pictures instead of abbreviations. It's currently looking awful due to the missing/wrong images, but it'll look good when proper icons will be uploaded. Also added alt descriptions. --Adul 14:32, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Could someone please add everlasting cottontail tonic to the list?

Bug Maybe[edit]

I dont know if it is a bug or not. I tried to change characters to get more 5 more gifts and it appears that you can only get 5 gifts per week per account.Talk page Drogo Boffin 13:11, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

That's not a bug, that's intentional. Just like Nicholas Sandford in Pre-Searing. User Xelonir sig.pngXelonir 13:26, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
ah yes I never tried to do this in Pre. and didnt think about looking at thatTalk page Drogo Boffin 13:31, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure we were never told that the limit would be character based. Paddymew 16:15, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

mini's[edit]

I wonder what de drop rate is for the mini's. i think very low since they are green, or at least yakkington is Rhonin Soren 18:47, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Confirmed Mini Yakkington[edit]

He's so adorable I'll just leave this here http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/4901/yakkington.jpg --222.127.90.153 10:09, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

LOL. That is just awsome! Flaming Hot Chilli 06:23, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

what he is collecting[edit]

Could we include this, I know it changes each week, but personally I think it would save people a lot of time if you say what the current collectible is as he isn't right next to an outpost currently and I expect he won't be. Also listing his current location would be extremely helpful and save having pointless discussion topics on it each week. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 22:46, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

meh all on NPC page my bad. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 22:47, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

inventory description[edit]

The inventory description for this item is "These are a few of my favorite things". When I read that a song started playing in my mind; Favorite Things by PTP, a rather obscure band. May not ba an actual reference but somehow it would make sense seing the lyrics 84.104.81.205 12:50, 26 April 2009 (UTC) (PuppetX)

I'm pretty sure it's a reference to the far more famous Mary Poppins song of the same name. Lyra ValoUser Lyra Valo Sig.jpg 12:51, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
It's a reference to The Sound of Music ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 13:09, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

per week[edit]

I don't think its per week as in once every 7 days but once per "request". I got gifts yesterday (iris) and today (linen) without issues.

The request changes weekly. You just got gifts at the end of one week and the beginning of another, it's still two separate weeks.198.37.19.137 16:07, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Real value of Gift[edit]

I've made some calculations to check what's the real value of the gift. Some ppl sell them even for 12k each in Kamadan. So i've made this sheet http://kukuryku.ovh.org/gw_wiki/gift_of_the_traveler.xls Prices taken from guru, chances from Gift of the Traveler/Drop rate

Feel free to make any corrections. Password for edit: wykalaczka --Titus andronicus 20:41, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

TA calculates an expected value at 4.4k. For what it's worth, that approximates the 4k I calculated (using somewhat different trade values). The low value comes from the fact that rox/popz/sparx seem to drop 60% of the time and tend to run for ~100g/pt. (Also note that TA doesn't yet have values for about 8 of the items.)
However, expected value is not the same as market value, otherwise no one would ever pay US$1 for a lottery ticket, whose expected value is $0.50 (by law in most US states). As long as there is a 0.4% chance of a mini, people will pay 12k to be that one person in 250. (Or, if you like, it's 12k for a lottery ticket to win something worth 120-720k.)
Kudos to Titus Andronicus for putting the analysis together: nice work, dude. Tennessee Ernie Ford 22:29, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Weapons from Gifts[edit]

Do all weapons received from gifts have a quote attached to them? I just got an Icy Dragon Sword with this as a quote: "Yakkington had to win a tug of war battle with an Ice Imp for this little treasure!" - Nicholas. If they do all contain such a thing, is there value in adding it to the article? Pkohler01 04:25, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

They all have the quotes and they are detailed on the individual item pages. --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 05:58, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Buyers Beware[edit]

Be careful some people try to pass off Gift of the Huntsman as gifts of the traveler.

tell me about it--Penners 15:15, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Would a more prominent warning be appropriate? The warning is in the Notes, but you have to scroll down to see it. --Max 2 04:10, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Still see this, a scammer were advertising these for 3k/ea in Camp Hojanu yesterday. 85.19.140.9 09:22, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Drop Research[edit]

I am suprised nobody has started a drop table for this yet. I would be more than happy to make one but am clueless as to how. Am putting this on watchlist so that whenever one is started I can add some info of my own. Merri Weathers 20:09, 16 July 2009 (UTC) Sratch that...Just found that a chart was moved *Doh* Merri Weathers 20:11, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

This is weird, but in my inventory i have 20 aged hunter's ales, but i was only supposed to get 10. Is this a mistake? Or is it just a bug?

Please sign your comments, and no I doubt it. You probably opened two gifts, and each gift gave 10 Aged Hunter's Ale, totalling up to 20. Unless you got 20 from 1 gift, something's wrong. Than 05:54, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Unopenable in competitive mission outposts[edit]

I tried opening my gifts in the Fort Aspenwood outpost. I got a message something like "This item cannot be used in competitive missions". I don't know if this is true for all presents, I didn't see a note here or on the present page. I don't have any more gifts or other presents to test with right now, but perhaps a note should be made. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 23:26, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Doesn't seem to affect Birthday Presents. I was able to open a Birthday Present in the RA outpost. --99.232.78.45 06:21, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
