Adding organization to these guides[edit]

After comparing all of the great ideas in the sections in these Profession guides, I've tried to bring together a single format for all of them to use. The information has not been changed, but in some cases it has been reorganized so that readers will know what to expect across all guides.

Because of this, many guides will have incomplete sections. I believe this is worth it to have the great sections cover all of the guides and have more complete organization.

I’m adding this explanation to all of the guides’ Talk pages so everyone can see it regardless of which guide they see first.--Declan 20:29, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Questions[edit]

I'm wondering if having elementilist as a primary proffesion for it's energy storage then being a healer with monk as a second proffesion is a good build.Tall Ash 21:53, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

No. -- Mini Me talk 21:58, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm wondering if having elementilist as a primary proffesion for its primary attribute (energy storage) and having monk as a secondary and being a healer is a good Idea.Tall Ash 22:19, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

In PvE or PvP? Either way, it's generally a bad idea, as a lower Healing Prayers rank and no Divine Favor will greatly diminish healing efficiency. Elementalist / monks using elementalist energy management skills to spam Heal Party and elementalist skills for flag running used to be popular in GvG, but they fell out of use after Light of Deliverance was introduced in Nightfall. -- Gordon Ecker 23:20, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
I suppose you *could* play that way, but in my opinion, it would be more effective to use Protection Prayers instead. Having no Divine Favor will really hurt the amount you heal, but when using skills like Protective Spirit and Restore Condition, healing is of secondary importance. 145.94.74.23 12:59, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

We have to discuss it and reach a consensus first. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 03:26, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Guys this is starting to look like groupthink. We should get a disinterested third party in here to critically assess the note first. Clearly as pro PvP players we are all too biased with our elitist mindsets to understand the attitutes of the sort of casual user who might find use in this guide. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 03:31, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Obviously. And considering that GoLE + Healing skills (minus the diving favor bonus, of course) is soooo very OP, we should be willing to allow the note :/ Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 03:34, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Party roles[edit]

  • Tank - Until Shadow Form is confirmed to be not be able to tank after the supposed nerf, the article should not reflect the ele's niche role as a obsidian flesh tank.
  • Backline - Ether Renewal infusers are more than viable in PvE. Pika Fan 01:35, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Meh. I feel like we're leaving the article open to say "healing is viable on an elementalist even if you just stack estorage and healing prayers and add a bunch of random skills", when really there's only a few viable setups for an ele healer. Is there an elegant way to express that? -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png{{Bacon}} 02:48, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

The origin of the word "nuker"[edit]

The article shouldn't claim that the term "nuker" comes from fire magic, because it's simply not true. The verb "to nuke" is a reference to the massive destructive power of a nuclear bomb. Since a nuclear bomb is not an incendiary device, the word has nothing whatsoever to do with fire. Any fire involved in a nuclear explosion is simply a byproduct of the tremendous release of energy upon splitting atoms.216.229.78.186 01:56, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Elementalist Guide Template[edit]

For the suggested clean up and rewrite following the dervish guide, here is a template for the elementalist to get started with. I already added the basics to make it easier to rewrite it. It is best for these guides to be rewritten in a similar style by users who have a large amount of experience with those professions. Da Mystic Reaper (talk) 12:13, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

That looks easy on the eyes. Do we use template as is; then swap over to main article when polished? I can help with no-brainer basics; but where are we gonna find expert ele-players? --Falconeye (talk) 04:32, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
What I did with the dervish guide rewrite is recycling existing content and adjust it to make it easy to understand and easy to read and explain it in as few words as possible without using any gimmick builds/strategies or farming/SC PvX builds as example. So the first step would be to recycle the existing contents and simplify it, then remove the unneeded information and add the missing information. Once the no-brainer basics as you call them are done it is easier and more appealing for other players to be bold and adjust the guide if its needed. Someone simply has to take the first step and the rest will follow (hopefully). Da Mystic Reaper (talk) 18:38, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
If no one (on the wiki) is familiar with the post-2012 elementalist, I can definitely shed a light onto the new mechanics and how to use them effectively. - Infinite - talk 23:41, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
Please show us the light. It would really help since I'm not too confidant with the ele. Da Mystic Reaper (talk) 00:00, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
The gimmicks/strategies/builds are better served on Team roles-related articles; they only exist due to predating those articles. --Falconeye (talk) 01:31, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I've done "Overcast and Energy management". Next up "Understanding the Profession" and "Playstyles" need to be sorted out, reduced and merged with "Strategies and Tactics". Da Mystic Reaper (talk) 22:31, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

The current recommendation here is to add Runes of "Minor <elemental> Magic" on shoes and vamps, but there is already the primary one on the headpiece, and these are non-stacking. --68.104.239.59 08:10, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
