GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack[edit]

moved from User talk:Gaile Gray

Hi, I was just wondering, aside from the bonus weapons and the access to the sneak-peek event, what will the prerelease bonus pack for GW:EN actually contain? The thought just came into my head because the Nightfall one contained stuff like wallpapers and lore off like a CD... if the GW:EN prerelease bonus pack was bought off the online store, would it still contain those goodies? Thanks in advance for any info you might have regarding this! --Santax (talk · contribs) 18:51, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Comments on PBP[edit]

Seems like a rather empty pack. No minipet, no char slots...

There wasn't a minipet with any prior bonus pack (only with the Collector's Editions of the game) and there was only a character slot included with Nightfall's bonus pack. However, this is an expansion for level 20 characters, so a character slot would be out of place. In addition, Nightfall's Prerelease Bonus Pack lacked the early access weekend. Instead we get THREE new bonus items. The others only had two. It seems like a great pack to me. Solis 05:48, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. I'd say it looks more or less the same as previous packs. You might have mistook this for the preoder.
Btw, can you put a link to the source for this? -- ab.er.rant sig 09:53, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Will the pack be able for purchase in the Official Guild Wars store(Online store)? And I think the pack seems pretty good once we get pics of the Glacial Blade, Hourglass Staff, and the Darksteel Bow we will get an idea of the weapon skins --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:4.229.30.107 .

GW Online store[edit]

"The GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack will be available both in stores and through the Online Store at July 20th of 2007, a few weeks before the game itself is released." -- does that mean PlayNC Online store or GW Store? --89.212.160.13 11:55, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

"You can pre-order Guild Wars: Eye of the North in the following ways:
The Guild Wars Official Store — Just log into Guild Wars and click on link to the online store in the upper right-hand corner of the character selection screen" . . . . I've been checking all morning and there is nothing in the Guild Wars Online store. Gaile? Anyone? I know I should have patience but Im a gamer! :P - (Shaydow 13:20, 20 July 2007 (UTC))
That's why I asked ... since I will order it from official store (with 2 char slot for bonus mission stuff + because I doubt Slovenia will have any prerelease bonus packs) ... but no preorder pack in GW store :S --89.212.160.13 14:26, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Questions about the pre-release pack[edit]

moved from Talk:Gaile News

On the official site it calls the pre-release pack a bonus for pre-ordering, and the way the page is set up makes it look like you can only get the pack if you pre-order. Are they the same thing? If you buy the pre-release pack but not pre-order, do you still get the sneak peak access? If you buy the pack online do you get the buddy codes emailed to you? What happens if you no longer have access to the email account bound to the PlayNC store because you bought something in game and can't change it anymore?

Hope that someone can clarify these questions for me. And I'd also like to say the bonus weapons look amazing. :) Now if only I could get a Factions pre-order key (or two.. or four). EB gave ours away to other people while we waited for the CEs to be redistributed. :( - BeX iawtc 12:01, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Good questions, won't repeat them- just gonna add an issue of my own since it's related, and hope Gaile can answer all our questions and deliver us from- well, you get the point. ;)
The Pre-Order page suggests you get the Pre-Order pack if you Pre-Order from sites such as Amazon and other GW partners. However, looking at Amazon, I cannot see the actual pre-release kit up for sale separately, and their product info does not tell you whether or not you'll actually also get the pre-release kit when you pre-order... Never even mind if they'll bother to ship it in advance- one of the reasons why I don't much like online ordering is because my Factions preview key arrived 3 weeks after Factions was released, and 2 weeks after I received my CE. I'd like access to the Sneak Peak event, but I cannot buy the pre-order kit from the in-game store and the online retailers give absolutely zero information. Since GW.com's information is ambiguous at best on this issue, I thought I'd just ask someone who might actually be able to tell me more. :) -- Elveh 19:55, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
At amazon.de you will get a pre-order key a day before the sneak peak weekend when you pre-order. No retail box, though. -Khan Reaper Kerensky 20:28, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
It didn't give any info about such things on the UK site, do you have a link or something? -- Elveh 20:52, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Um... EBgames.com shows release of Preorder pack to be 31/08/07 while there in store computers say 01/09/07... where can i get the preorder pack in canada? cause apparantly EBgames is too ""slow"" (in more than one way) to pick it up from. -TehBuG- (68.146.198.244 21:58, 20 July 2007 (UTC))
http://www.amazon.de/Guild-Wars-Eye-North-Add/dp/B000TAHCXO/ I hope you understand german ;). Try to send a email to the amazon.co.uk support. I think they will do the same but didn’t put it up on the page yet. -Khan Reaper Kerensky 22:45, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
I've got a question regarding ordering the bonus pack via Amazon. Apparently several weeks ago you could, but now you can't. For personal reasons, I will not be ordering via NCSoft/GW online store. WHile I'm sure there are folks that suggest I go thru the NC Soft store, the GW website states I can pre order thru other vendors. I prefer to order thru Amazon and apparently it's still being stated that you can get the bonus pack via Amazon for an extra fee, but it's nowhere to be found on their website nor is it an option when you go to buy the item. I sent them an email, and their apparently outsourced help desk cannot answer why the link of the pre-release is not available.
Has anyone ordered this via Amazon? I'll also note that here in Ohio, my local THREE GameStop/EB Games do not have it either. As a side, how come there is no official Guild Wars forum? - MetaPhyzx § 19:23 31 July 2007

I'm also wondering, if you "pre-order" in game, do you have to purchase the expansion in game too? The wording is extremely misleading. And how much is the expansion going to cost online? I have to pay for it it gbp, and the exchange rate is gonna kill me. - BeX iawtc 03:47, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

So can you buy the pre-release through the in game store, and then buy the full game from a retail store? Would their be a problem with access key conflicts or any other problems?--Jingomania 08:58, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Just to recap the questions:

  1. Is the pack a bonus for pre-ordering, or can we buy the pack, and then decide later whether to buy the expansion in-game or from a retail store?
  2. If you buy the pack in-game, do the buddy codes get emailed to you? What happens if you no longer have access to your email address and cannot change it due to having used the store before?

I hope that we can get some answers! - BeX iawtc 15:56, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Here are answers:

  1. You can buy the two items separately. Keep in mind, however, that the credit for the purchase of the PBP is at the discretion of the selling entity and will not be applied from one seller to another. If you purchase the PBP in the in-game store, you will have all access (Sneak Peek Weekend, Bonus Items, Trilogy Trial) added automatically to your account. When you purchase GW:EN in the in-game store, you have the cost of the PBP deducted from the price of the game. However, you are not obligated to purchase GW:EN in the in-game store. You can add any retail access key. However, the cost of the PBP purchased through the in-game store will not be applied to the retail purchase of GW:EN, in that case.
  2. There are no buddy codes for the Prerelease Bonus Pack. There is a trilogy trial key that would be added to your account to try out any campaigns that you are missing. I do not believe that the retail version of this trial would allow you to give it to someone else, but I will inquire. There is no buddy key for access to GW:EN itself.

I hope this is helpful information. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:02, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you Gaile that is incredibly helpful. :) - BeX iawtc 00:36, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Very glad to help. Don't hesitate to post questions. If I have the answer, or can get it, I'll post! Sometimes I do a little moving (to other, proper pages, as I did this thread) but I try to track those and continue to respond as I find out the answers. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:32, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
does the "no price reduction if bought at 2 different stores" apply, if i bought the preorder from my local seller and want to buy the full release at the in game shop? 84.56.20.68 10:31, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, if you buy the preorder at one store (your local seller) and the full game from another (the in game shop) the price reduction will not apply. --Rainith 21:39, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

hey gaile just one question, is it possible to have this feature added to an account without having to spend the required amount by the deadline? also each storage tab is based on the gw campaign u own right? cause theres someone i know who had the bonus pack and all 4 storage tabs added on his account but only owns prophecies and nightfall

Canada eh?[edit]

Seems America does not include Canada this time. Expanding the Tyria geography has reduced the North American geography. We seem to be stiffed on the pre-order and stuck with ordering through the GW store. Which does not ship things so buying a CE version of GW:EN would be useless there. Sincerely let down. Chik En 13:36, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Per Gaile there will be no CE of GW:EN. --Rainith 14:22, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Check the facts before you get angry. -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 14:25, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
My point was not if a CE existed I never checked it. It was simply a example. If I want to get the Pre-order I can't get the box (Like i have for the others) If I buy it from the GW Store (which does not have it still) and in the end I won't have the box for GW:EN period via the GW Store. And I for one enjoy having the boxes. And lastly on release day... stores drop the price for the first day to try boost sales. I doubt the GW Store will do that. Chik En 16:57, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
To follow up. I asked my nearest EBgames to talk with it's Head Office (I usually have to do this) And they say they SHOULD get them sometime next week. Which if true works for me. Late won't matter since the game is not out for a while. Although EBGames is not listed as one of the places to get it, GameStop is and they are pretty much the same store. This time they only listed stores that are primlarly USA based. So to wrap up... in Canada .. we should get them... late but eventually... Chik En 19:15, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
One we ship, we have no control on the time it takes to reach a distribution warehouse, or the time it takes to hit each individual store shelf. And we're very sorry for that, as you can imagine. When we plan a July 20th roll out, and so many stores don't have it on shelves, it is disappointing, to you and to us. This is not unique to Canada -- one GW fan called four stores and none had it. Two said they'd never heard of it, and believe me, we do a lot to make sure they both know about our products and have them on time! It's good to know the stores will have the PBP soon, and I think your calling the store to ask was a very good idea -- I encourage others to do that, too, so that the stores are motivated to get those puppies on the shelves as soon as possible! :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:05, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
To continue to keep those in formed. Still not available yet in canada and I am not in some small city out in the middle of the woods. But the EB Games store I am in contact with is still expecting them. And they are willing to hold on the side a few copies for me. Chik En 13:29, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Happened to be near the mall at Bloor & Dufferin yesterday, so I checked the local EB Games there. According to the guy behind the counter, they had received the email about it, but not the packages themselves yet. Expecting them sometime next week, apparently. --Dirigible 09:07, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes this is what I been going on myself. I know the manager of my nearest EB and he said the same thing that Head Office emailed them back around the 20th and that is the last they have heard from it. So we are still in a holding pattern like vultures over a soon to be available corpse. Chik En 15:34, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

When/Where to get the items[edit]

I already bought the pre-realease bonus pack (4.99€)and add the key to my account, but when or where they are available? Do we need to input some kind of command ingame to unloack them??

Usually special things are given via /bonus command in game however they may not be available till you combine your GW:EN key with the bonus key on the same account. But I could be wrong about that. Chik En 14:07, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
I think I read somewhere that they are avaiable from the preview weekend and from thereafter, i could be wrong though :/ Just read the note on the Gailes News page, "The special items listed above will be available only upon registration of a GW:EN Standard Edition (game) Access Key. " Hope thats better ;) --User Gummy Joe Sig Icon.PNGGummy Joe 15:14, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Gummy Joe - although I can't find it, I think I read somewhere that we will not have access to those items until we combine the full GW:EN key with our account. Erasculio 15:15, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Ok, soft-hearted folks that we are, we went ahead and implemented the items last night. *happy dance* --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:06, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Ok, i allready have the 3 items, but i think, we only can unlock them with a PVE char, but i found another strange thing, i cant storage that items, and i notice that they costumized to that char, my char is a elementalist, and that items are unusefull to that char, is that a bug or is ok like that?
Ok found how it works. You need to input /bonus with all chars to unlock the items to that char, btw the staff is amazing :D
Also if you put the weapon on a hero or you destroy it, you can spawn another for yourself by typing /bonus in again ;) --User Gummy Joe Sig Icon.PNGGummy Joe 17:28, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

EB Games issue in canada[edit]

I don't think so. I pre ordered and when I asked if they had the prerelease, then just said no but then I told em I preordered so they said if it comes in, anyone who's preordered will have first dibs on it. I'll check tommorow if they got it.--§ Eloc § 11:04, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

GW Store now has GW:EN prerelease bonus pack[edit]

Update your game to see if this is how you wish to obtain GW:EN

I just purchased the pre-release bonus pack on the store, and although the "Key Manager" section on the character select screen has it listed, and it shows that i can make the items associated with the prerelease, they don't appear when i type /bonus or /preorder. Does it mention when the items will be available? Avatarian86 00:43, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Edit- wow, just noticed the section above. got my answer Avatarian86 00:46, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
You should have them now, with the proper command. It may be /special, come to think of it. I do believe it is /bonus, though. Give those three a try and report back, ok? :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:08, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Pricing[edit]

Very interesting is the pricing: In the online shop it costs 5€ or 5$ (nice exchange rate...). If I buy it in a shop, I pay 2€ and get a voucher for 5€ off when buying GWEN. I thought NCSoft wants to push the ingame shop instead of pushing the local dealers. The three bonus-missions are not worth the higher costs in the ingame shop. User Der moon sig.png Der moon 09:14, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Will the cost of my pre-order be applied to my final purchase of Guild Wars: Eye of the North?
This will differ from retailer to retailer. The cost of your pre-order will be applied to your final purchase of Guild Wars: Eye of the North when you buy through the Official Guild Wars Store or the PlayNC store.
Just found that in the official FAQ to GWEN. This relativizes the price of the pre-order box.User Der moon sig.png Der moon 10:26, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

I already got the items by entering /bonus...--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:83.116.101.100 .

Yes, we enabled that last night. It seemed a nice thing to do. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:30, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Your previous log still indicates it requires the final game key. You may want to change/add some more precision onto that. Are the weapons permanent even if you never buy Eye of the North or do they last until the game's release date and the final key is added ? Thanks. Jaxom 12:18, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Is there an actual "pack" for ordering through the store?[edit]

I ordered the PBP through the online store last night... Should I be expecting an actual pack like the one in stores? --Karlos 00:35, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

The Prerelease Bonus Pack is digital content. The access keys are added to your account and you will therefore have the bonus items (now) and access to the Sneak Peek Weekend when it begins (August 24). We do not send out the box, for we do not have boxed product. I've noted that most retailers do not ship the PBP separately, or if they do there is a rather significant shipping charge. We could not cover the costs of shipping, alone, for the price of the PBP. The benefits of acquiring the PBP through the in-game store are:
  • Immediate Access to the content -- Bonus items now; instant access to the Sneak Peek Weekend when it begins
  • Assured timely delivery -- we will not run out; we will not lose your package; we will not sell your package to the customer who shows up 20 minutes before you arrive to pick up "your" copy
  • Automatic addition of the relevant keys to your account -- no typos, no misplaced keys!
  • Availability anywhere in the world, even regions that don't have retail copies
  • An earth-friendly delivery system that doesn't kill trees or use non-renewable resources for the production of a DVD or the gasoline to drive to the store or truck the product to your home
Hope this is helpful information. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:27, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm an onlin shopper by default, so I don't need to be told the benefits of online shopping.
Another question though... If I buy GW:EN itself through the GW store, will I not get a game package? That would be disheartening. :( --Karlos 05:36, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
As with any other purchase, if you buy GW:EN through the online store, you'll receive only digital content. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 05:38, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm, that's kinda lame. I wanna have the map and the other cool stuff :/ Why do I have to choose between the Mission Pack and the actual game package. Booo. --Karlos 06:38, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
I totally agree with you. I've debated that over the past few days and final came to the conclusion that I can buy the map and booklet at a future time from eBay or by buying the expansion for another account- yet I can't get the mission pack in the future. It's an easy decision if you look at it like that, but it still sucks that you have to make it. Its my one complaint about GW:EN so far. -Elviondale 00:04, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Buy the GW:EN pre-release and 2 char slots if you want the mission pack? :) and GW:EN physical product or something? --Lemming64 13:20, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
I already have 11 Character slots... i.e. All the character slots I'll ever need. And, I'm not really looking for a workaround, I am registering a complaint. If this is true, then I think it's a bad idea. --Karlos 17:05, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
well it is true, the point of the online store is not to send out physical items to the best of my knowledge, I am sure Gaile will confirm this. I doubt they have the require licenses to distribute physical products through out the world. --Lemming64 17:25, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
The online store is for online content, not physical products. Please feel free to visit your local retailer to purchase the boxed product. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 21:21, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
So, you're saying that we as players have to choose between the mission pack and the actual physical package, or end up buying two copies of GW:EN of which we can only use one. I find that to be a poor design. --Karlos 21:33, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
I also have enough char slots... I think what they need to do is put in other things that can be purchased that people might want, that are kind of unique. An example would be a "Mini Pet Pouch" that can hold one of each mini pet always. And is accessable via your inventory panel and this would be available to all of your char you have and you can add and remove mini pets anytime to alter / grown your collection however only one of each is allowed in the. Personally I would not mind paying 5 bux for the ability to show off ALL my minipets anytime I want. This is just a example of what they could do to give us more options in the store. Chik En 17:56, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
I know that we are eager to learn of good ideas for the online store. I've conducted polls on some of our fansites asking questions about this very subject. Please feel free to add your thoughts there, as it's a subject in which we have a keen interest, especially as we look to the future and the potential for offering players more choices. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 21:21, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
How's about making the map and book available as a PDF to download once the game has been purchased? It's better than nothing and still allows us to see what the hubbub is about. -Elviondale 00:04, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
I love you all. Does that fact that you did this make me an influential person? -elviondale (tahlk) 04:02, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Another thought that just occur to me. They could also sell Uncovered world Maps for all the games at 5 bux each. And you can toggle the map option via a hot key or a button if you wish to display covered or uncovered. And it would be open for all your chars to help you figure out where to go if you really need that help. Personally the maps might be the easiest and you got 20 bux right there if you have all maps including GW:EN sold in the store. Chik En 18:00, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

The boxed version[edit]

Does the boxed version of the bonus pack include any information like the Nightfall pre-resease bonus pack, or just the access keys and the installation disc? -- Gordon Ecker 04:54, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

It only contains the key and the installation disc. -- User indochine sig icon.pngIndochine talk 12:52, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Just a quick note, in GAME (a UK store) the Pre-release Bonus Pack is only £1.99 (and that will get taken off your pre-order if you purchase it there. Jas0n 21:51, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

GW:EN_Prerelease_Bonus_Pack#Availability[edit]

Ok, I added not available in Canada and a time stamp to it, so if you live in Canada and check int EBGames every so often or w/e stores there are in Canada and they end up not having it, update it with ~~~~~.--§ Eloc § 03:54, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Once again, I have to ask - is this really something that needs to be here? I could think of a lot of places the PBP is not available, we'll start with India, then perhaps move to Afghanistan? Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 04:02, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Sure, why not? We could add those too if we got players over there who wanna add that info to this page.--§ Eloc § 04:04, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Okay, let me rephrase this. You're asking people to update a timestamp if they go and check and it isn't there. But how is that useful? Knowing that it wasn't there a day ago doesn't help you any to determine if it's there today. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 04:07, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Sure it does, it shows if the information is outdated.--§ Eloc § 05:42, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Lack of availability is not what we're documenting. I removed the note. --Karlos 22:43, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Now wait a minute Karlos, I don't think the conversation has even gone anywhere yet. You don't have the right to remove it as I don't see anything in GWW:FORMAT that shows there's a specific formatting guide for Campaigns. We don't need the timestamp but it can say that it's currently unavailable in Canada.--§ Eloc § 02:04, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Karlos has every right to remove it if he doesn't think it belongs there, that's what a revert is. If you still believe it should be there, the preferred method to go about it would be to continue this conversation here, instead of adding it back in, since that's the beginning of a revert war.

What about putting the not about it not being available yet in Canada in the article, but dropping the timestamp and keeping information on when it was last checked here on th talk page? -- Gordon Ecker 02:23, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, aside from the fact that I'm not even sure it's true (is there something that disallows Canadians from ordering the pack from the Guild Wars Online Store?), it opens up a whole other can of worms if we decide to document where things aren't available. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 02:31, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Ya, there is kinda a thing that disallows Canadians from buying from the Online Stores. It's called Currency. We use the Canadian Dollar which means if we buy it in the online store for $5 American, it is costing us more than if we just walk over to EBGames and buy it there for $5 Canadian.--§ Eloc § 05:07, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
I can understand that it sucks, but that's not preventing you from using the store. - BeX iawtc 05:14, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
So why would I waste more money when I could just walk to EBGames and save money?--§ Eloc § 05:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Because you can't? ;) -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 05:59, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Never said I couldn't but what's the point when I walk to the store and get it for like alot cheaper?--§ Eloc § 06:05, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
The point is that it is available to Canadians. You can buy it from the online store, you are choosing not to do so as it will "cost you more money." --Rainith 06:23, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
For the record, not one single store within 100 miles of me in NY has the preorder bonus pack. I even reserved copies and -nothing-. So stop whining about paying an extra loonie or toonie ^.^ more and stop worrying about updating a timestamp which really no one, not even Canadians, care about. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Elviondale .

(ri) I managed to get the last pre-release copy from the CBD stores in Brisbane. I doubt that there are many copies left in Queensland at all. - BeX iawtc 06:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Ok, so the bottom line is that you put FALSE information there. You basically said that it is not avaliable in Canda to mean that the stores around you ran out of copies? This is ridiculous and irresponsible. In fact, I believe you are not to be allowed to that joke or any other without hard proof from ANet, because at this rate, your reasoning abilities seem extremely childish: "It's not available in Canada cause I can't buy it in store and the one in the online store is too expensive for my taste." That's just irresponsible. I have a few Canadian friends in game and they have gotten it. --Karlos 07:21, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Or haven't gotten copies yet, which is the case for the nearest EB Games. Anyway, I think that the fact that there are people who have gotten it in-store is enough to make the note obsolete. -- Gordon Ecker 07:55, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
The stores in Toronto Canada have NOT had ANY copies due to SHIPPING. I have verified that this still is the case as of 9am EST this morning. If you want the boxed version because you have all the other boxes. You have to wait. 5 dollars usd vs 5 dollars cad is a very minor difference right now if you check the market. So just to restate, the ebgames in Toronto and Futureshop and Bestbuy have NEVER had one copy of the pre-release yet. Hope that helps. Personally I think the status does not need to go on the page. We can continue to update things as we know it on this discussion page. Chik En 13:15, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
LoL, I didn't put false information there. You CAN'T buy it in Canada from STORES! I also don't give a fuck about the timestamp, Elviondale. Learn to read the whole conversation.--§ Eloc § 22:30, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Karlos mentioned how his friends bought it in Canada, therefore it is available there. It may be that all stores in Toronto do not have it yet, but that's not the information currently on display at the page. So, I'll remove the note (together with the other notes regarding this, such as the one about the "Meat Market"). I also don't think it's a good idea to list where the box is not available - how are we going to know if an entire country does not have the box? Erasculio 23:04, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Oh grow up Eloc. Karlos- I think you've stumbled upon a great idea. Now can we move on and argue about something else? Man.. how about that lag... -elviondale (tahlk) 23:20, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
I wasn't talking about Toronto, I'm talking about retailers in Canada. It says in the email from ArenaNet that it is available July 20th but it's not. As for whoevers friends who bought it in Canada, I'm not talking about the online store.--§ Eloc § 23:25, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

hi. the prerelease package is NOT yet released in canada (well, at least not in Calgary, Alberta. not "its sold out", ITS. NOT. HERE.) i have contacted Gamestop/EB Games and the only release date associated to EoTN is 31/8/07. they have said they have NO IDEA when there getting the prerelease package. also, ive opened a ticket at the plaync help area. they gave me the cookiecutter cut and paste awnser july 20th... whitch is wrong. im still awaiting a replay back (i told them there info wasnt correct) and when i get the info, i'll release it here. -TehBuG- (68.146.198.244 02:00, 27 July 2007 (UTC))
Ya, same with Cold Lake, Alberta, not sold out but not here.--§ Eloc § 02:21, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Can Canadians buy it or can they not? If they can buy it from the online store, the answer is "yes." -Auron 02:27, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
WE'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT THE ONLINE STORE, AURON! WE'RE TALKING ABOUT REAL STORES, NOT THE FUCKING ONLINE STORE!--§ Eloc § 03:01, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm talking about the "GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack." What are you talking about, dearie? If you can buy it, you can buy it. If you can't, you can't. If you can buy it online and would prefer not to, gtfo and stop making stupid posts. -Auron 03:27, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
"Beginning July 20th, players will be able to purchase the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Prerelease Bonus Pack from their favorite retailers or online through PlayNC.com or the Guild Wars® Official (online) Store." Taken from the email ArenaNet sent out to everyone. Obviously they aren't selling at our favourite retailers in Canada.--§ Eloc § 03:55, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
The simple fact of the matter here is that you can buy it in Canada (from the online store), just ask your parents or legal guardian if you can use their credit card and drop the subject, as Ranith said: You can buy it from the online store, you are choosing not to do so as it will "cost you more money." Another piece of advice Eloc, if you want a snowball's chance in hell of running for a position of "power" sometime in the future I suggest you rethink the way you go about expressing your ideas. -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 05:20, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
"Beginning July 20th, players will be able to purchase the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Prerelease Bonus Pack from their favorite retailers or online through PlayNC.com or the Guild Wars® Official (online) Store." -- What is it that is incorrect in that sentence? Anyway, pricing and availability change too often to be something that is documented on the wiki; a year from now I may want to come to this page and check out what was available if I had bought the pack, not where it was or wasn't being sold in retail stores. If the argument is going to be along the lines of 'well then take it down when it's no longer relevant' then it wasn't relevant enough in the first place. - Thulsey Zheng - talk 05:53, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

the simple truth is I CANT buy it off the online store. an Ex GF screwed me when she left by absolutly destroying my credit. so unless im expected to stick cash in my cd tray nad email it to the GW online store.... online purchase is not an option for me. therefore, by auruon's reckioning, since im canadian and cant get it online or in the store.... (kidding). but dammit pplz CALM DOWN AND DISCUSS LOGICALLY PLZ. no flame wars. as for the ticket ppl there giving me roundabout awnsers, so im still trying to pin them down to an awnser. -TehBuG- (68.146.198.244 14:32, 27 July 2007 (UTC))
While that is unfortunate for you, and I'm sorry that is your situation, following your logic I could come up with something like this: "I don't have the ability to pay for this item (i.e. I don't have enough money) so they are misrepresenting themselves by saying it is available in this store as it isn't available to me." So I'll restate that it is available in Canada via the online store, you may not have the ability to purchase it there (no credit/debit/pre-paid credit card), but it still is available. The inability to pay for an item does not affect the fact that it is available to be purchased. --Rainith 17:43, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

(Woo edit conflict) The issue here is whether information about availability should be included on the wiki. Canada is very likely not the only place where you cannot obtain the PRBP from a retail store. Should we include a list of all of those places? We certainly shouldn't be listing only one country, when the actual count is likely to be much higher. And the article already states that you should check with your retailer about physical availability. I personally don't believe it should be included, because the online store makes the point moot. Technically it is available in every country, but it's down to the individual whether or not they are able to purchase it. And I believe that the added availability is a great step forward by ArenaNet, because it has opened the opportunity to get it to many countries that previously had neither the option to buy the game from the online store, nor from a retailer. - BeX iawtc 05:55, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Well said. Its more a matter of ego now. We need to accept the fact that its not available in certain places via physical, walk-inable store and move on. Consider the cost of gas driving to a store and the opportunity cost wasted spamming up this talk page, and in the end, its cheaper to buy it from the store. -elviondale (tahlk) 06:02, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
irrielivent. the official GW website sais it is available in North america and europe. other countries not on that list just have bad luck i guess. but one of the countries ON that list is unavailible to get the game. my seccond point is that it also shows that some of the Anets "Retail Partners" who are LISTED as having the item (gamestop/EBgames) DONT have them in canadian locations. as this is a contradiction to what the official information is we believe a notice should be added to assist canadians in aquireing the PRP, or to co-ordinate badgering EBgames, Gamestop or Arena Net for ither the release date of the preorder pack of EoTN in canada, or information about the delay. -TehBuG- (68.146.198.244 14:37, 27 July 2007 (UTC))
This kind of thing is something that belongs on talk pages, not article pages - discussions of what retailers are carrying it and where, et cetera. Feel free (as has already been done) to post various helpful notes and such in relevant talk page sections, and comment as things change. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 15:19, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, glad to see 1 person is on my side. Yes, it says it's available but it isn't and people who come to the site and just notice the link on the front page won't always look at the entire convo of this.--§ Eloc § 15:32, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Consider this, Eloc: if, say, DreamWorks Pictures were to release a movie on DVD, and run a TV ad about it, stating that it's "available in stores now", but some movie shop in a given city had its shipment delayed because the post office lost it, would DreamWorks add even a fine print to the bottom of their ad stating "except in such and such store"? Hardly, because "available in stores" is not a guarantee, nor is it meant to be a comprehensive statement. Go to Aiiane's Talk page (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 16:00, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Ok this is to much to read for me now... got better things to do with my time... I will go back to my little thread above called Canada eh? and keep that one up dated. Chik En 17:25, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
But it's not just one store, it's ALL retailers in Canada.--§ Eloc § 17:35, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, we understand that. That was a horrible analogy Aiiane ^.^ What about Amazon? I know some people who have purchased the preorder from there and I'd imagine that they'd have some CAD adjustments. -elviondale (tahlk) 18:09, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Question for Gaile[edit]

Gaile when will the Pre-Order stop being available in the GW In-Game Store? I think this information might help stop the above comment wars. If everyone knows how much time they have before they have to take the bullet via the electronic version. Chik En 17:33, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Lol id also like to know, considering from all appearances it will be taken off the shelves in canada before it gets ON the shelves. in addition can someone in the office make a few phone calls (companies give us customers roundabout and shift-aside awnsers) and find out what the heck is the holdup? after all, this is making Anet look bad, as the offical site sais it is available at retail outlets in NORTH america whereas ATM its available in retail outlets in AMERICA and not canada (online store aside, of course. but as ive stated before, that is not an option for all of us.)... -TehBuG- (68.146.198.244)
The Prerelease Bonus Pack will be sold only through August 31, 2007. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 05:23, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Behold! North American Availability Information[edit]

I've just updated the main page of this section with current information about the availability of the Prerelease Bonus Pack in North America. I will try to acquire similar information for Europe, as well, so the page offers players in many countries information about the availability of the PBP. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 05:51, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

The Weapons[edit]

In the online store of Guild Wars you can buy an upgrade including six items: (Rhino's Charge, Nevermore Flatbow, Tiger's Roar etc.). You can create these items on each character. So when I get them on a character I can still get them on another character without having to delete the weapons of the first one. Now you can also get 3 weapons. Can you make them on all the characters as well? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:81.206.83.153 .

From Pre-order#Items:
Pre-Order Items are attached to your account through a code, that comes in the box. This is attached to your account (like a new chapter). Once attached, you can type /bonus or /preorder while in a town to recieve them in your inventory. This can be repeated as many times as you like. You cannot Trade, or Drop them and they are customized for you. Although you may equip them to your Heroes.
Hope that clears that up for you. --Lemming64 11:21, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Ebgames....Canada Shipping...[edit]

Me and my Friend recently called ebgames and they say got all their shipping for this week and they said they wont get it until next week... when it says Mid week of July 29 canasian5 15:39, 01 August 2007 (UTC)

Question[edit]

i have a question if i pre-order gwen do i get pre-release package with it? 17:18, 01 August 2007 (UTC)

You should, depending on availability (for instance the stores near me have run out, so even if someone put a deposit down, they don't have anything to give them). If you pre-order from the in-game store then you will automatically get the code added, as long as you do so before Aug 31. It's best to call your retailer to find out if they have any copies of the pre-order/pre-release pack left, and if they do ask them if they can hold it til you get there. :P - BeX iawtc 04:18, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

British Columbia[edit]

I am fed up Every ebgames .went to every ebgames in Surrey BC and doesnt have a pre-release package in stock.... Did you even bother to send shipping to British Columbia.....cause this is not right.. i even pre-order Gw:EotN awhile ago and they still dont got the pre-release package in stock......They said they had no data on the package..canasian5 15:45, 02 August 2007 (UTC)

wow... hostility. chill dude. its just a game. heck its not even a game, its a pre-order pack. the deal is that Canada's shipments were delayed for some reason somewhere along the shipping chain. its a reported problem ACROSS Canada. (next time read the rest of the talk page to make sure your not making a fool of yourself.) however, as of today the PBP was Available in Calgary, Alberta and as of 3 days ago approx it was in Toronto. considering that the game isn't out for a month yet and the sneak peek weekend is also at least 3 weeks off don't worry. you have time. just chill yo. -TehbuG- (68.146.198.244 19:55, 3 August 2007 (UTC))

Still have to buy?[edit]

I got the pre-release pack, but do i still have to buy the actual game? or is it just waiting for me to pay for it and they have a copy set aside for me?? Dean Harper 02:56, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

It depends on where you bought it from. If you preordered, they will hold a copy for you. If you bought the PRB from the online store, you'll need to buy the full version (and, if you buy it in the online store, the cost of the PRB will be deducted from the cost of the full version). You probably phone the retailer. -- Gordon Ecker 03:31, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Pre-release bonus pack[edit]

I believe i still have a pre-order cd key lying around somewhere, can i still use it to access the weapons? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:217.166.57.84 (talk).

Yes, they don't expire. -- Gordon Ecker 08:58, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Adding pre-release pack key to full version afterwards[edit]

I already have a full version of GW:EN added to my account. Does anyone know what happens if I add a pre-release key now? Nothing at all or do I get the bonus weapons? Zaishen Dragon 14:03, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

You get the weapons and the trial added as usual, it still works. (Forgot to Sign) Twytch 23:24, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
