Started off this article with the info that I had. As people finish this mission could you expand upon it? Thanks!

Is it better with this walkthrough now? Should take around 20-30 min to finish now. The reward still sucks though =) --Runningbaka 20:55, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

To be honest, I don't quite understand the walkthrough... I simply went counterclockwise, with a detour to the island in the lake, knocking out whatever patrols were on the way. Didn't have any problems with pops, didn't need to backtrack. Roughly 20 minutes with basic Discord setup.--99.14.216.132 12:15, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

This took our team 2 hours to finish....and at the end we got 50 victory tokens. What a let down. I expected something more for what I considered a hard mission. ---White wasabi User White wasabi.jpg 14:07, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

It would be nice to see how many people actually beat this mission. I found it impossible to complete. Giggling White 15:49, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

The article said average time to complete this mission is 30 minutes??!?!? what's the secret?!? Barinthus 00:21, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

it takes 30 minutes knowing where the popups are using a monk, a paragon and 2 searing flames eles... however the reward is stupidly low compared to amount of effort... kinda sad they've kept same stuff as last year and didnt even improve anything... failfailfail

You really have to ask yourself, just what were they thinking when they came up with this mission!? I've only been playing now for less then a month (N00b! N00b!) and thought I'd give this a try, and have a little fun. After all, it is the first mission given. How hard could it be?

Deadly Hard!

I took my fifth-level Assassin and three third-level Hench-persons...and we were all dead within a minute of hitting the beach. I can see now that this was designed for four human heros, but what the h*ll would you need to defeat Pairs of Level 26--28 Foes.

So please excuse my snivel, but this was not fun and I though that was the point of this Festival (and this Game). I'll go now.

  • To be fair, this mission is intended for lvl 20 human players who have probably already been in high-level areas and fought against groups of 3+ foes lvls 24+. Realistically, however, the effort required to do this usually yields max gold items, rare crafting materials, and/or greens whereas this gave you 50 victory tokens, which was not at all worth the effort.Rebirthofdragon 13:24, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
From what I can tell, this mission was designed for an 8 man team of level 20's, NOT a 4-man group of beginning players! I took my level 20 elementalist with a solid build, coupled with three heroes, each with runes, green items for their builds, and good, hardy builds, which I may add I have been fighting through Hard Mode dungeons and vanquishes with. All level 20. This mission is still ridiculously hard, for a fun event mission. To this I add that at one point we're supposed to lead a group of four players against a group of TEN level 24+ enemies, with the Fingers of Chaos skill, that destroys most build in seconds, coupled with a few elementalists in their group that do ridiculous amounts of fire damage. The only way I can see of doing this is with a bunch of Ursans. Great job again, Anet.
There is no group of 10 enemies to fight. The biggest group I found contained only 4 or 5 enemies; however, there were a few patrols and quite a lot of popups, so I can see why you found yourself overwhelmed. The mission isn't too difficult if you assume a popup group will appear at any given moment and pull visible groups carefully. I completed it relatively easily on my dervish with 3 necro heroes (MM, N/Rt healer and SS, though next time I try it I think I'll bring an ele instead of the SS.)--Mme. Donelle 14:26, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Did the same as above and completed with only 1 near wipe*due to lag hit me at the worst possible time*. Still for how annoying all these missions are, the reward isn't worth it. I'd rather do Dragon Arena for my tokens and I hate that place.--Masato 19:43, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Consider these first two missions practice. The rest can be completed 3-5 times per window and give more tokens per completion. --24.179.151.252 19:48, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it's a mission for level 20 characters (either human players or heroes, but not henchies, and not levels ~5 or any such). Took me, the missus and two heroes ~20 minutes this morning, and I hadn't even had a coffee.

Jade Wind Orb[edit]

On the front page the article lists Jade wind orbs as the reward. Is this merely because someone hasn't updated this webpage or are Anet that stupid that they provide a useless reward for a really hard mission. It wouldn't surprise me as the amount of V Tokens offered is pitiful anyway, but still they spent ages coming up with the idea for Z Coins and they still got that wrong!! Does anyone know if the 2009 missions give Jade Wind Orbs as a reward? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:86.29.80.41 (talk).

  • The Jade Wind Orbs were only for the first iteration of the event when Nightfall was released. Since then it's been the Victory Tokens for the "reenactments". --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:138.67.79.103 (talk).

Wow[edit]

Year forward 2009, and still deadly hard, didnt complete it this time, need to wait for another start D: lol --86.29.80.41 11:36, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Still 50 Victory tokens? I'm not making this things again for the same prices. You get more tokens in less time just by killing the charr assault in Nolani Academy in NM. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 15:28, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
This is ridiculously hard for the reward you get! I tried this in NM using my Sabway heros that work almost everywhere else in HM!!, and I got wiped after closing 5 of 8 rifts. The mobs are just too big for a four-man party, especially if you happen to get a single bad pull. Will try Discord or Ion Cannon next time and see if that works any better. But TBH, I'd rather just farm the easy Victory Token mission chain with multiple characters. That gets you almost a stack of tokens each time, takes about the same amount of time as each of these stupid missions do, and is easy. 50 tokens....meh! AnClar 19:45, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Went straight for the island rift w/o killing the pop up or patrols? 66.190.15.232 20:21, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, it was the island rift, but I took out a couple of patrols and went around the perimeter of the island to trigger popups...there was still a bunch of 4 or 5 including the 2 eles that came together...that's why I said I thought I got a bad pull...I would think that there were only two rift guardians...but the other 3 wouldn't separate from them at all...and I waited for quite a while watching the patrol patterns. Like I said...that much effort for 50 tokens just ain't worth it. AnClar 23:19, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Walkthroughs[edit]

You know what's really depressing, in the 4th year of these missions running, and still, only one of them has a walkthrough submitted :P --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 23:44, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, most people don't want to touch them with 7 feet pole, doe to their difficulty compared to their rewards, so not much people bother about them. It's like some challenge missions. They are there, but... meh, who cares? MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 04:10, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Dragon Fest 2012:[edit]

I've got to agree with the critique above, the Mobs seem way too hard for a Fun annual Mission; esp when your only working a 1/2 strength team; and only have a 30 minute window to log in and go; this was my only chance at a mission Festival as real life commitments will take precedence and it was just wack. Even with 1/2 my usual (underworld) crew; but that’s it... who do you leave; your Mesmer; your MM; you sure need Ele's.

Congrats to those players who've Mastered this one... but to the Dev's Really? Does it ever occur to you that some of your players don't live for this game or read the Wiki instead of the New Your Times; but would enjoy kicking back, relaxing and busting some virtual heads? I really don’t think something like this should be a Elites only Mission; it says to your casual players; thanks for the money you spent on the game; but your not really welcome here. --69.255.123.188 20:00, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
