Perhaps this is a... red herring?

I found another use for it: "Cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with... A Herring!" (Monty Python and the Holy Grail) 89.138.6.161 07:26, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

category[edit]

does this really belong in the category fish? that cat is there for fish species monsters, not for actual fish. - Y0_ich_halt Have a look at my page 10:57, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

It depends : from a 'lore' point of view they do, from a NPCs point of view they don't, of course. Since I am interested in the study of the 'Tyrian fauna' I added them. It's a bit like the cats, they aren't NPCs either, but they are creatures in the game universe nevertheless.--Moriturus 16:41, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
except the cat is still an npc. this herring is an item. imo you can't compare those, since category:feline is spread much wider than category:fish. much because there are many npc animals in that category, while there are no fish npcs. - Y0_ich_halt Have a look at my page 20:57, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Hey, but before Gruhn killed it, it was a real live Herring like those we can see in the Krytan waters (oh, maybe i should add Sharks in the fish category, since we can see Sharks too). Now that ANet said they were Herrings, we can add them to the category. What? the fishes in the sea belong to another unknown species?
But I admit it's a bit far-fetched, technically it's an item and OK that does not look very logical. The ideal thing would be to write an article on ichthyology and add a note saying that herrings bla bla bla with a link to this page. But I'm lazy and my english poor, so I find messing with the categories much easier! ;)
OK OK, for the sake of logical minds, i'm reverting.--Moriturus 22:14, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

As an IP mentions above, the reason for this fish rather then another fish into the game might be all the other references in the game to MP Holy grail... thoughts? can we ask? MrPaladin talk 19:23, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

You do know that there is an entire Category named "References to Monthy Python and the Holy Grail", right? The chance of another is pretty big if you ask me. Paddymew 22:38, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Naw the reasoning that there are otehr references only eludes to possibly more being valid... but I do think this is a reach... I'm jsut wondering why herring instead of a different fish MrPaladin talk 14:37, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Could be because Herring is a feeder fish for just about everything that eats fish in just about every zoo or anywhere else that has marine animals. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 14:39, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
