way of geting a ice dragon sword[edit]

ice dragon sword are hard to farm, just geting to the area will take a good running/ farm build bast doen with a dervish monk. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:75.164.168.136 .

where is a good place to get it i tryed and could not get it i killed so many ice imps it never was a drop --74.244.239.243 17:57, 9 December 2007 (UTC)tray

Drops are always random, so you may just be on a bad luck streak. They can only drop from Ice Imps in the cave in the far corner of Mineral Springs.--MP47 (talk) 01:15, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
I've done this six times now and not once has there ever been a Icy dragon sword drop. This is more than a just bad luck streak. Also can someone please explain to me why the icy imps are at first in two separate groups (as indicated by the red dots on my radar) but once I enter the cave they form one group that never separates again?--Worldly Tutor 23:34, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Inscribable? --83.117.25.125 21:38, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes, they are. demonic barb 21:29, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
uhm, no? —ZerphatalkThe Improver 20:12, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

They drop in prophecies...so they CAN'T be inscribable...as far as I know they all drop with the same stats req9 15^50 and ice damage.Solusek

How to get the Icy Dragon Sword.[edit]

Here is a link ([1]) to a good build for an Ele for farming the IDS and a guid to the method of getting there. If you've not got an Ele, the guid is useful enough in just showing you how to get to the cave with the least trouble. The same route can be used by characters useing Assassins and Dervish builds, which i believe are two other popular proffessions for farming the IDS. I'd suggest that you watch the video via the link at the bottom of the page, if only to see where to stand to let the patroling parties past, in Tasca's Demise. This route is'nt a 100% guaranteed method to getting there, it's more like a 80% success chance route. The other 20% of the times you try and fail will be down to the spawning of enemy parties in poor locations. And unfortunaty, when you get there the other 80% of the time, i've found that it only drops somewhere inbetween once in every 5 or 10 visits.

If anyone finds that they have more success with the drop rate of the IDS (like if you get it nearly every time), Please let me know. Good luck with farming the Sword. : )

One time i had 4 swords in one run; and if u gonna practice it, im sure all runs ll be successful ;p

You had 4 in one run? Woh! What proffession do you use, and do you get one pretty much every time? Do you know if the amount and drop rate is affected by the speed at which you kill the Imps? Sorry for the 20 questions, lol.
Titan Crow User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg 13:51, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and do you do it Solo or with a Party?
Titan Crow User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg 14:01, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
I doing it as E/Me and Im sure drop rate isnt affected by the speed, imo more dmg at once=less drop. And ofc i doing it solo.

so far I've only ever done 3 runs.... got 2,1,0 on respective runs at different times... I use a warrior build with defy pain and a bit of health now and then and its np to kil lthe imps and those around em... it helps not to zone into the area too often... 4 is a nice achievement tho MrPaladin 13:27, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Nicholas[edit]

Seems like these are gonna be alot cheaper now, because of nicholas, kinda destroyed farming it, but then again you can buy them for a decent price now -- User C4K3 Signature.jpgC4K3 13:17, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Nick is a plus and a minus on this, as a bonus his one is inscribable and comes wit ha little quote added to it, making its version more desirable then the regular IDS. But on the other hand the old IDS has an inherent 15/50 mod making it a warrior elemental weapon... I think the price of old IDS will stay the same, but the new ones are much more desirable for their versitility... already rigged one as a caster sword MrPaladin 13:25, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
I dont think the Nicholas version is gonna get more expensive, and i know the regular version is less expensive, somebody was trying to sell one for 15k -- he was like begging to get rid of it(it was regular version), i saw somebody spam to sell a caster IDS for 50k ... dont think he sold it though -- User C4K3 Signature.jpgC4K3 14:56, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Old IDS would be more in the range of 3-5k for an honnest sale these days... the 15k comes from all the webserches you can do from when they were new and shiney... They are relitivly easy to obtain if yo ucan get your character to the location to farm them, time is often better spent elsehwere as players who want this item can usually jsut go get it themselves... Personnally I like gifting them to guildies... MrPaladin talk 15:00, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Before nicholas i could sell them 15k no problem at la -- User C4K3 Signature.jpgC4K3 10:01, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I Bought a Caster IDS for 20k Easily Yesterday But They Are Not Dyeable so it dosent match my Black Dyed Emblazoned Defender Sort it out Anet! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:80.4.73.223 (talk)..

HM vs. NM[edit]

Does anyone know if the drop rate is increased while farming in HM as opposed to NM? Or does the drop rate stay the same?--Sdunnison 03:37, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

I farm them 24/7 when i do HM i get around 6-7 of them in maybe 14-13 runs in NM i get only 3 from 20-25 runs so u do the math. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 95.180.9.137 (talk).
I farm NM every blue moon... I see one in every 2 runs or there abouts... I guess overfarming like the above could produce a lower drop rate, I rarely enter that zone MrPaladin talk 17:31, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
