NUB SKILL

Thank you for that deeply insightful analysis of this skill. - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 13:51, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
This is actually a useful skill for solo farming in lower level areas. A single hit can kill an entire mob of lower leveled monsters if they are grouped closely. In PvE adventuring, it can make for a nice boost to your high damage dealers, and puts pressure on the mobs healers. There are obviously better elite skills for team PvP, but this skill is something not seen often, and as such can make for some interesting results in PUGs...the opponents would not expect this one, and may not even realize the danger until it is too late to avert disaster. It can stack nicely with skills many PvP teams also don't see often, like Rising Bile. These hexes appear harmless enough, and may even go unnoticed until Rising Bile triggers, and the target is suddenly spiked very hard with the unexpected AoE damage. Couple that with a coordinated attack and the entire opposing team may have considerable damage control to deal with, instantly turning the tide of the battle. Gwynna Vive 06:57, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm currently running this with Putrid Bile and Rising Bile - together, the 3 of them do damage under the same condition, packing quite a punch PvE-wise. Erasculio 02:30, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Same here, plus Putrid Explosion and Signet of Sorrow. Lots of use from one dead foe. ~ Da Si 05:04, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

Is this thing bugged? Feels like it triggers multiple times when multiple caster cast on the same target. Lightblade 08:34, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

If 2 or more people cast it on 1 target, the first damage will apply for all. The secondary effect (when the target dies) should only apply once, the hex can only be on one time. It is cast multiple times though, so it will trigger something like Soul Barbs multiple times. Dragnmn talk cont 19:02, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
Hm..then all the IV spikes shouldn't be able to kill more than one at a time. Lightblade 00:48, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Keep in mind it only damages nearby foes and how many players do you know of that clump together in pvp other than warriors focusing on a single target but even than their armor will cancel out most of the damage.Highway Man 06:14, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

The notes state that heroes only use it on enemies with 20% health or less making it inefficient. I don't quite understand that. It's a hex, so when cast shouldn't it go something like : Hex applied - initial damage dealt - enemy dies, so death damage triggers.

Maybe in that they won't spread it around, so it won't cause a chain reaction. But I don't think that's accurate anyway, my hero seemed to use it regularly.

IV spike only exist because IV is a damage spell inside their energy management 76.26.189.65 01:06, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Which is both broken, and entirely awesome. -- euphoracle | talk 16:39, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
New updates makes it meh.--Wealedout 05:27, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I think it needs a minor buff, like some health degeneration, to actually help kill the foe. And also, this may sound obvious, but if you kill a foe with Icy Veins alone, will the hex be applied and then will the conditional damage trigger? 92.239.41.229 18:21, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Don' ask for degen as a 'minor buff', unless you want another CoP.--Ipsen 12:31, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Yes, if a foe is killed with Icy Veins (even if not already hexed by IV) the conditional damage will trigger. <>Sparky, the Tainted 21:27, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Needs Buff[edit]

This is a fun skill to use with putrid bile, unfortunately putrid bile is better in the way it doesn't do cold damage on death, they should make the energy cost 5, recharge 8, and buff the damage on death to non cold damage. At least in PvE, although this could use a PvP buff too as no1 uses it....ever, totally outclassed by Toxic Chill in PvP. 24.203.117.69 11:14, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

This and putrid bile with a long duration hex an disease can cap a JQ shrine when you arent even there. 76.164.126.8 20:31, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
what if it was a self propagating hex? does initial damage, applies hex on target, when that target dies, all nearby enemies take damage, and get hexed?Tgwg 00:44, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

On Death[edit]

If your target dies due to the damage it deals at first, will the secondary aoe damage trigger as well? --Toast 03:25, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Yes. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted charr sig.PNG (τѧιк) 03:36, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Should that be noted? Some might think the hex won't apply thus causing no damage.--Toast 03:41, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Please A NET BUFF THIS SKILL!!!

Elemental AI damage?[edit]

Is the damage Elemental Armor Ignoring damage, like Ancestors Rage was pre nerf?

It's armor-respecting, sorry. Also, please sign your comments by typing four of these ~.--Deus 17:00, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
