[edit] NPC quotes
Did anyone get the NPC quotes? -- Gordon Ecker 09:09, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I only saw 1 npc overhead say something like "Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Grog", which was already established as the drunk player quote. I just assumed they all said the same stuff.- Vanguard

- I snapped some shots of the lionguard quotes, and it appears that they have some not listed under the player quotes. These are the ones I observed - Ahoy there, Cap'n Tightpants! - Avast! I be a pirate this day! - I like the cut of yer jib. - 'Tis talk like a pirate tide, don't ye know? - Ye salty sea dog! Buy us a drink, hey? - Well met, jim lad. We be pirates, savvy? - Arr! Who be ye? - 'Tis a fine day to sail the seas! That's all I could find, but I hope it helps. 67.246.54.73 20:53, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- I can remember reading a couple of those indeed. Let's add them to the article (I cant, I gtg). Could you perhaps, for reference's sake, upload the screenshot? I doubt it is really necessary, but still. — Why
21:19, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- If you feel it is necessary I could upload them, but unfortunately I have no wiki skills and so have no clue as to exactly how to go about it and where you would like me to put them. I also found "Ho there, cap'n! Buy me a grog, eh?", "Ahoy there, matey! This be a no-hornswogglin' zone.", and "Arrr! It's a pirate's life for me!" that overlap with the character quotes, but again these are only from L.A. and it is probably an incomplete list.67.246.54.73 21:44, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- I added the quotes to the article, it may need some layout fixing though. You could also upload the screenshots on an image-hosting site such as photobucket, but as I said, I don't think it is really necessary. — Why

- Looks fine to me. Glad I could contribute a measly amount. If anyone absolutely needs the screens say so, other wise I won't bother. 67.246.54.73 22:20, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Grog
As a Pirate enthusiast I thought i'd point out that Grog was not used by what we today consider the golden age of piracy which ended around 1730, Grog did not start to be used until after this date. What kind of pirate waters down his rum anyways? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.251.163.165 (talk).
[edit] History
Just a little fyi, if you look up the history behind this event is based on a parody religion who are called Pastafarians and worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster. FSM ftw baby :p <unsigned>
- They celebrate it, but they didn't create it. Two guys from Oregon back in 1995 created it while playing raquetball. It didn't get popular until a few years later :-) ShadowLurker 18:47, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Dates...(this year)
Says friday(18th) through tuesday(22nd), not 18th-21st. 63.247.64.102 01:32, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
Looks like it finished early and didn't run until Tuesday 22nd 79.69.118.144 08:40, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
[edit] You can get a Mini Pirate as ur perfession is.
What a very elaborate prank, thank you. Note removed. FleshAndFaith 06:19, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Pre-Searing
Do de Gorgs also drop in pre-searing??? if so that will be a lot of alcohol extra :P--Wysth 10:05, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
- I believe so yes :) Kevio 12:24, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
- Will be a lot of alcohol extra... why ? Tiberium 12:15, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
- Because in pre-searing, the only way to get any form of alcohol is through bear hunting. Having grog drop from monsters means that anyone in pre who kills a ton of monsters will also get some extra booze on the side, so there's more alcohol for any pre-searer who's going for drunkard. It's not a bad thing, just an unusual thing. Silavor

Silavor, the gifts of the huntsman also give alchohol, 5 level 1 or 5 level 5 ales to be exact, so pre has enough alcohol as it is ;) but, still easy to farm it. 84.192.28.15 13:57, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
- There is a fairly large pre-Searing population who would riot in the streets if festival drops weren't included in pre. All the holiday drops also drop in pre, why would this be any different? -- Wyn

- I dunno I just wondered about it haven't been playing festivals in pre the last time so i forgot it, About the booze in pre, it is right there is a lot of it but it is not enough if you want too buy it from other players it costs you a fortune and it is pretty hard too get that in pre sinds you dont want too be farming char bags al the time.--Wysth 14:27, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
- I just got a Grog in Pre-searing--Wysth 13:27, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, it's on already? I guess I better start farming raptors. I need booze to use dwarven stability since alcohol is the only item in the game that doesn't have an everlasting version, yet is the only one which affects skills... well, other than craftable consumables, but those should just get stomped anyway. I also think they should nerf 600s so I can finally stop doing these SoO runs. I hate them and I never getting anything. Worse yet, people have stopped paying me for it now that assassins can do it. —Jette

[edit] Challenge
Does grog drops in challenge missions? 77.37.243.86 14:39, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
- No — Batchie 11:27, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Grog drops seem to have ceased too early
I was out collecting event drops, as I usually do.
The front note item on the log-in screen says this event ends on Tuesday.
Is this a bug?
A) Servers are reset too soon?
B) Front menu item is wrong? (Usually things end Sunday Night in Pacific Time, so this is plausible).

- It is no bug, it's official. — Batchie 11:26, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Not accordingly to the date of end of the event in the official note on the login screen... :~ confusing... Jaxom 11:32, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Looks like Anet stopped it today, and didn't warn us. -_- — Batchie 11:34, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Lol, and I told so many guildies this was too good to be true. And sure enough, they stopped it early. Can anyone honestly say they are surprised? xD --Sapphy 13:07, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Greatly disappointed none the less, I feel they owe us both an explanation as well as an added event. The idea that Grog was over farmed seems to be dissatisfying for a 4yr old game to be able to underestimate the desire to participate in events instilled in its players. --96.250.1.161 17:44, 21 September 2009 (UTC) Stack

And things get better! According to Regina on guru, the event didnt end early but was typoed from last year's event. Funny thing, last years event ended on the 21st and this years is the 22nd. Hmm, do I smell yet another fail/lie from Anet? --Sapphy 23:10, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, the log-in page announcement is no longer up, so I can't double-check, but memory tells me it said "Tuesday," not just the date, so that totally doesn't jive. Those of us with busy weekends were looking forward to a little grog action. Feels like a rip-off. --TwoToesTed 23:54, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Wiki keeps track, and yes, it did say Tuesday. -- FreedomBound

Thanks for the back-up. --TwoToesTed 00:31, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, it seems they have an ongoing problem with events that are 'scheduled' to run through some day OTHER than Sundays. If memory serves, there was a glitch of some sort with last year's Halloween event that had a 'redux' (rather than admit a goof). Guess it's too easy to just get into cookie cutter mode and end events on Sunday, regardless of that the announcement states. Algonda 09:07, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
This was the excuse they gave me: "There was a miscommunication about the dates of the weekend event. The end date was incorrectly posted as the 22nd, however it was meant to end at midnight on the 21st. We apologize for any confusion this might have caused." --98.168.174.125 05:23, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
