[edit] Warrior profession?
Jora is currently listed as a Warrior in the article; might I ask where this information comes from? (Logically, I expect her to be the Warrior as well, but it shouldn't be put unless it's actually confirmed.) Capcom 17:41, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- Probably pure speculation. Her outfit is pretty much a metal bikini, which probably means Warrior or Paragon, however it also vaguely resembles a skimpier version of Margrid's default outfit, and the skirt appears to be a pelt, both of which suggest she might be a ranger. I think she's probably a Warrior and might be a Paragon, Ranger seems unlikely, because that would make all three Ranger heroes female. -- Gordon Ecker 22:03, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

- Well, I'd more look at the fact she's using a shield and what appears to be an axe in the screenshot of her fighting a Charr. As I said, I myself think she's a Warrior, but I was just wondering if it was officially said anywhere. Capcom 01:38, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- any proof that that is her in the screenshot? -FireFox
05:15, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- No, she could be some generic female Norn NPC using Jora's model as a placeholder, or there could be several Norn NPCs with similar armour and hairstyles to Jora. -- Gordon Ecker 06:16, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well according to the videos taken from E3 yesterday it is confirmed that Jora can't be a ranger because there was a charr ranger hero in that video.Lord Raikage 13:07, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think the fact that there's a female Norn that resembles Jora fighting in the Charr Homeland (i.e. not hers) is enough. --Santax (talk · contribs) 13:11, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Definately not a Ranger cause teh Charr Pyre Fierceshot alteady has that spot covered. And since Paragons and Dervishes are innate to Elona (Nightfall) as their unique class, i would think that she could only be a warrior. In a recent article i heard that she was confirmed a warrior, any backing on this? [Z. Ametefe] 12:28 a.m. August 2, 2007

[edit] Alternate Armor
The "alternate armor" screenie was removed once because it was not Jora. Any chance we can confirm and avoid a revert war? -elviondale (tahlk) 07:02, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- She's wearing the same outfit in the Jora Vs. Yeti screenshot on Flickr. -- Gordon Ecker 09:11, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Story
Is a short background story on Jora needed? It's (translated) from the NCTaiwan manual ([1]).
- Jora
- Female Norn Warrior
- Jora is a young Norn whose story has always been tragic since childhood. She and other children of her age shared the same dreams--they wished accomplish something to leave a legacy behind. In Norn's society, hunting rare beasts earn them respects. Therefore, Jora, along with her friend Neil (not sure how to translate his name; also he might be her brother instead of friend), ventured past mountains and came to the depth of an ice cave, in search of the beast that could challenge their limit.
- In one of their hunts, Jora and Neil came upon a powerful, dark force. This force made them change. Jora lost her ability to shapeshift to a bear, an ability only known to Norn, and Neil's life was also gradually darkened. Since then, Jora left her Norn tribe, spending her days hunting on the hills of Shiverpeak, wishing for the day that the Bear Spirit would forgive and redeem her. Jora's willing to do whatever it takes to find her redemption--it doesn't matter if it's ceremonies (not quite sure why they put that there), quests, hunting, or even helping the humans.
Feel free to correct as necessary and put it on the actual page. I don't really know enough about wiki to make it look nice on the actual page.--StellarAshes 09:29, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- Jora's brother is called Svanir I believe. And yes, thit is an interesting piece of information, thanks :) --Santax (talk · contribs) 09:50, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Recruitment
What are we calling the missions/instanced quests in GWEN? They seem to replace missions but they are quests and don't function under the same system as missions (as far as I know there are no bonuses/masters to do). They are also different from the other instanced quests as they give experience as a reward. I also think they might give tapestry? This might seem out of place but it's referring to how to write her recruitment, is it a mission or a quest? Dancing Gnome 15:36, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- They have made the "missions" from quests because they don't want to ruin the protector/guardian titles for people from proph. Though functionally the same(except if u wipe you get ressed) it dosnt effect the protector/guardian title. As a down side there isnt a bonus/masters level to these "missions". We'll see more as we get more time to look into eotn. And we have to remember, this is just a preview weekend. Eotn is NOT finished, and it's likely we will see lots of changes come about between now and the 31st. And to address what to call them. I think a quest is just fine, they are just slightly different than most quests. No big deal really. --Lou-Saydus

- Considering most quests are instanced anywho, I don't see how "instanced quest" serves as a distinction. Because the mini-map says "Mission Map" on it, I just habitually call them missions. Weird missions, but missions nonetheless. Of course, I prefer the new mission format, for one thing because a whipe doesn't = restart, and because bonuses/masters were getting on my nerves after trying to get all my protector titles I'd already earned onto one character after it was "revealed" that the hall of monuments was character-specific. Arcthemonkey 20:42, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- They remind me most of the nightfall Mini missions. --Xeeron 15:57, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bear Form
Anyone else curious as to why Jora doesn't get Bear Form after finishing Curse of the Nornbear? I mean, I was under the distinct impression that she could change into a bear until the curse was lifted, but then you lift the curse and nothing! Bug? Feature removed from preview weekend? Bizarre oversight? Intentional? Arcthemonkey 20:38, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- Give her the Ursan Blessing elite skill. She won't turn into a bear, but its close enough. Needless to say, I'd rather have her run a real build. -elviondale (tahlk) 01:17, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- The presence of Bear Form doesn't seem to hinder any of the other characters who have it, or stop them from using any other skills. It's not linked to any attribute, and Magni the Bison proves you can use other skills while in bear form. Arcthemonkey 02:39, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Bear Form is a monster-only skill, so it's probably technical restriction. In fact, I wouldn't've thought Ursan Blessing would work - it's a PvE-only skill, and afaik, heroes can't use those. --Santax (talk · contribs) 09:33, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ahh, but it doesn't say "Monster Skill" Arcthemonkey 15:52, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Did anyone really expect a player character to be able to use the skill? I mean come on. I would love to have a toilet seat made of 24 karat gold, but it just isn't in the cards.- anonymous--142.167.27.209 16:50, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- I'd expect her to use it just as much as Koss. Maybe she just likes to transmogrify in her spare time.. -elviondale (tahlk) 17:23, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- I don't want to be able to use it, personally. Just her. I think it's silly that we go through all this trouble to uncurse our Norn hero, when she's no stronger afterwards, and can't even use the one skill that makes the Norn cool. Without it, she's just a 7 foot tall viking.Arcthemonkey 19:41, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ursan blessing or Bear form would be cool. But there's nothing wrong with a 7 foot tall viking either. Alaris 14:47, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

has gaile said anything about this? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:75.165.124.6 .
- I'm not too good with adding screenshots to the wiki, but at the end of EotN Jora specifically talks to you about how it's because of you that she can now turn into a bear. Why can't aNet add in a category for species-only skills, and since no other character is a norn only Jora can access it? It's common sense, really... plus it opens doorways for other hero-specific pve-only skills perhaps? (ie. golem summoning for Vekk...) Silavor

- To Silavor and Arcthemonkey, this is restricted for technical reasons, not lore reasons. The fact that Jora is a hero, and that a hero's skills comes from your account's list of unlocked skills. It's a code thing. Adding exceptions and special conditions to how things work is almost always bad practice. Unless they revamp how a hero's skill bar is populated, I suspect it would inelegant to do this in a shortcut/workaround manner. And to do it properly, is most likely a waste of development time that's probably better spent on GW2 or other bug fixes. -- ab.er.rant

[edit] Length to get Jora?
How long does it take to recieve her as a reward from the quest?(or in other words is 5 hours long enough to get her? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Tycars126 (talk).
- Yep, it's pretty quick if you just stick to the Norn primary quests. -- ab.er.rant

[edit] Bug??
I was messing and had Jora in my party and I started dancing and I saw Jora doing the female warrior dance, and then I remembered that heroes with other species than humans didnt dance or do any emotes... I dont know if she does other emotes but I just wanted to bring this up--The Forsaken One 20:58, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
here's a screenie:
--The Forsaken One 21:10, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- I guess since the model is just a bigger human (pretty much), then it wasn't that much bother to code the dance. Lord of all tyria 21:12, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- Nope! It was probably just a matter of scaling up the skeletal rig for the dance82.36.244.186 19:09, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
