Talk:List of Prophecies quests

Gemberkoekje: If possible I'd like the addition of the professions of the quests as well, in that way you can just check off and delete any quests out of your primary/secondary profession... But considering the current *offsite?* table thingy, I dunno if this is at all possible.

I agree with Laurielegit. Since some this quests can be done only by certain professions it would be useful for ascended characters to know which profession to use to "trigger" the quest.

Are the quests to be left in alphabetical order or broken up by where the questgiver is located?65.7.211.83 11:49, 28 February 2007 (EST)

I was thinking someone should add something to indicate primary quests

Could some one also put them under there profession. Please. Laurielegit.

This page is pretty much useless in its current format, as it's just a mirror of the information in the Prophecies quests category. It's done much better on the old Wiki, but obviously we can't just copy it and paste it here because of that silly thing called licensing ;) What to do...? Tadjinar 12:29, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Do you think maybe there should be a clean up to remove quests that are no longer accessible? Some people such as myself use this as a guide for quests to do, and it is kind of confusing when quests such as the Luxon/Kurzick ones in Kryta are no longer available. They are listed in the Historical Content section, so it isnt like they aren't preserved. KiaoRayne 01:41, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Some quests are missing from the list, they are quests given in Sorrow's Furnace. I thought my first character had done every post-searing quest, but I discovered today that I missed three. I tried to add them but couldn't manage it. The quests are Tasca's Reprise, Subversive Ideas and Political Ramifications. (98.19.45.161 23:01, 13 April 2009 (UTC))

Review of pre-searing quests[edit]

I have been building a checklist and summary of Prophecies Pre-Searing for my own use. I started with the information on this page. The result was somewhat useful, but I found that some of the information here is simply wrong. Also, the formating of the quest descriptions is slightly inconsistent. I think a fairly extensive rewrite of the material in the wiki might actually be required.

There is a MAJOR problem with such a rewrite — some people will not like the result and will want to chew on the material themselves. Any page replacement should be reviewed and a consensus reached before the change over is actually made. A much smaller problem is that I have not done enough with any wiki to feel comfortable doing the amount of work required 'on a flier' without at least a mentor.

I suspect that a few things need to be done.

First, a list of people who might have stuff to contribute;

Check lists and summary draft Mtew 06:58, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Second, a place for specific suggestions and questions:

The stuff here should relate only to getting the project started. The stuff related to the project's progress belongs in the discussion pages of the project. Mtew 06:58, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Third, a place for general discussion;

What information on the list of presearing quests is wrong? Backsword 07:05, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
The note that The Prize Winning Hogs can be single player is incorrect for the current implementation. While I am fairly sure that the actual quest can be done solo, getting it started did not work with a solo character that had not done the initial profession test. Similarly, many of the 'Requirements' entries appear to be missing or incomplete. At the minimum, any Pre-Searing quest requires a Prophecies Character; pre-Searing is unaccessible to characters from other campaigns. There is also something wrong with the 'preceded by' and 'followed by' concept — they seem to imply a required sequence while the actual required ordering seems much less strict. For example the <1st profession> Tests can be done without talking to Sir Tydus and getting the War Preparations quest. And more... Mtew 12:03, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
If specific data is wrong, you can just change it. It's a wiki, that's what they're good at. Backsword 12:17, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Of course it's a wiki, however from what I have seen of wiki etiquette (which is not all that much), extensive editing and significant rewrites are controversial, if only because so much is changed. They can lead to 'reversion wars'. Mtew 16:18, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
More information on the 'Prize Winning Hogs" quest. It does not show up on the official quest log, so technically it is not a quest. Because of this it might be better to call it an "activity" instead. While it must be "started" to get the gold, there is no option to accept or reject the "quest" either. Also, there is no option to reject the reward. If you don't want the money, simply do not talk to Farmer Dirk again.

Rework Format[edit]

Just looking over the list is confusing. Alphabetical is fine if you're looking quickly for a particular quest, but even then, some of the quests are missing. Look at "Defend The Wall" for example. It's good to see preceded by and followed by mentioned, but "The Great Northern Wall" isn't listed in the alphabetical list. Is TGNW the next quest, or is is something else? Also, "Ruins of Surmia" has a followed by "Ruins of Surmia". Yes, there are two articles by that name with the (quest) included in one, but the list page doesn't show that. The preceded by and followed by need to be the full quests that precede and follow the quest being referred to. Each primary quest, for example, is actually broken into smaller parts of the overall quest. Maybe what would work for clarity is distinguish parts in the list with parenthesis for using references that don't exist in the actual game. Such as "Ruins of Surmia (Part 1)" preceded by "Fort Ranik" (which I also don't see in the list) followed by "Ruins of Surmia (Part 2)".

In addition, a story tree or flowchart would be useful as well showing the progression, parallels, and alternative (secondary and bonus) quests.

Yeah, I know, newbie making big suggestions. That's why I'm leaving making even the smallest change to the experts and long timers. Nightwng2000 14:53, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Profession specific quests[edit]

It has been proposed, as a more detailed proposal stemming from an earlier discussion, that an additional column be added to the tables indicating the required profession, if any. The purpose of this would be to assist those using the table as a planning tool or checklist. An example has been created to illustrate how this might be done and what it might look like. Consensus seems to have been reached, but a final call for feedback is now being made. --DryHumour 02:35, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

The Last Day Dawns/The Titan Source[edit]

The first of these is listed in Ascalon quests, even though given by Vision of Glint in Droknar's Forge, I'm guessing down to the fact it takes place in the Ascalon region. The Titan Source, also takes place in Ascalon region, and is also given by Vision of Glint in Droknar's Forge, but is listed in Southern Shiverpeaks quests. I think one of them should be moved into the same category as the other, but I'm not sure which way round it ought to go. If The Last Day Dawns is moved to Southern Shiverpeaks quests, then following the same logic, Defend North Kryta Province and Defend Denravi should also be moved. Magua 06:23, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

I believe quests are listed based on where they are categorized in the in-game quest log. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 07:24, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Skill quests[edit]

This list doesn't note skill quests. I think those should be noted, since their reward is not just money, experience or items, but something more important, and palyers amy want to plan how they play with them in mind. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 12:12, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

The List of skill quests is linked from the navbar at the top. Not quite as handy, I know, but this list uses DPL to extract data from the quest infoboxes and unfortunately those don't unambiguously identify skill rewards. DryHumour 17:19, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

War in Kryta quests[edit]

There is no indication for newcomers that the WiK quests are not available until later in the game. We have people trying to use this page to see what quests are available and getting confused. Can an asterisk be added with a note at the bottom? 68.9.170.112 22:08, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Not just like that. This page uses a template to automatically list all the quests using the infoboxes of the quest pages (or rather the categories of the pages which are based on the infoboxes). I guess adding the WiK quests to a new category would make it possible to at least list the quests under a separate header "War in Kryta". But I don't think just adding an asterisk will be possible.--Fogeltje 16:17, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
I have separated the WiK quests into a separate heading with a note on top. I hope that suffices.--Fogeltje 16:24, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Great job, Fogeltje! --Morgana1 23:03, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Additional sorting options[edit]

I've recently started playing a new character, and wanted to do a list of quests I have to do. The basis is this list, because I doubt there's a better non-outdated lists of quests than this wiki, but there's an issue.

There tables lacks a few items that could be summarized, like "rewards" - preferably 3 columns with "gold", "exp" and "etc" (alternatively with the last column removed if it's too big) and anything that could sort the table according by the order given (when it comes to the chain quests) and levels required to start it - allowing to somehow sort the quests by the order they are given out to player.
On the other hand, however, the Profession table isn't that much needed, and at least it could be made smaller to make some room for the, IMO, more important ones :). Any thoughs about it?
