Talk:List of armor collectors in Ascalon (pre-Searing)

From Guild Wars Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

It looks like this page is very similar to pre-Searing armor collectors except for the by profession table. Seems merging the 2 pages would be the correct thing to do. Just a matter of which makes sense to use pre-Searing armor collectors or List of armor collectors in pre-Searing Ascalon. Prof alf 13:24, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

I broke out the profession table into it's own page: Profession/Collector armor (pre-Searing), and placed the link to it in the Profession section on the bottom of the page. So I believe deleting the other page would be safe. Prof alf 20:34, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

um is that word supposed to be there?[edit]

i looked back in the history and i dont know where or when but Im sure that word shouldnt be in the warrior boots Karleen gives

Upgrading all 5 armor pieces[edit]

So not every profession can upgrade all 5 armor slots in Pre-Searing Ascalon?

Nope, the table at the top is just slightly confusing. here is an alternative layout (click on the headers to sort the data)

Quick navigation table[edit]

I re-added the removed useful info and took up the idea of adding the collectors in the table. This way it's far more useful than with just the common armour. At least that's how I (used to) use it. Steve1 (talk) 17:34, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

The reason for my edit was the unsightly empty cells in the table. A quick navigation shouldn't include all options, but only the most applicable information. The rest of the article is sufficient in informing players about alternative options. Hence the footnote at the bottom of the smaller table.
"1 Excluding profession-specific alternatives, listed below."
Strongly suggesting going back to the previous version. - Infinite - talk 11:58, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
Actually, a much cleaner way to present alternative options could be extracted from the table and made into a list instead:

Pre-Searing "Max" Armor collectables quick navigation1
Profession Headgear Chest armor Hand armor Leg armor Footwear
Any All Professor Yakkington:
50 Red Iris Flowers
Hatcher:
5 Unnatural Seeds
Savich:
3 Icy Lodestones
Varis:
3 Spider Legs
Karleen:
5 Gargoyle Skulls
  • 1 Excluding profession-specific alternatives, listed below:

Alternatives

Warrior Warrior
Ranger Ranger
  • Chest armor from Kaylee, requires 3 Grawl Necklaces
  • Footwear from Jacobs, requires 3 Baked Husks
Monk Monk
Necromancer Necromancer
Mesmer Mesmer
  • Footwear from Jacobs, requires 3 Baked Husks
Elementalist Elementalist
  • Hand armor from Mindle, requires 3 Enchanted Lodestones

Something like this might work? - Infinite - talk 12:14, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
Well, the way I have been using this table since February 2014 was to have all the relevant info available at one glance. So when you removed the class-specific info, you made the table far less useful for me. Your alternative isn't too bad, but still inferior to the overview table.
Counterproposal: We call the table "Pre-Searing "Max" Armor collectables overview" or "Pre-Searing "Max" Armor collectables at a glance" and part of the problem goes away. ;)
Joking aside: I'd still prefer the table with many empty cells to your alternative list.
Test it yourself and (honestly) tell me which version gives you all of the relevant info quicker and easier. Steve1 (talk) 16:43, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
Changed my mind. I doubt I will be using the table much in the future. Feel free to ignore my previous objection. Steve1 (talk) 17:02, 19 October 2016 (UTC)
I am currently trying to go with the original table, except making the profession-specific part of the table expandable. Either my wiki-fu is low, or GWW's table's aren't coded for it. - Infinite - talk 11:19, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
How's this? :) - Infinite - talk 11:54, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
Nice. Trying to find something to nitpick ... can't find anything ... bummer ... ;-D Steve1 (talk) 16:34, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
Fabulous job! Thanks for tackling that one folks. G R E E N E R 18:00, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
