King Dork[edit]

Anyone else thinking about little big Tom from King Dork? --Enishi

Profesion confirmation[edit]

Is he really listed as an elementalist anywhere in post, or the other games? LeFick 23:21, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

The Norn Fighting Tournament. -- ab.er.rant sig 07:57, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
He's a W/E in EotN, not an elementalist primary, but that's only so he can use the ultimate warrior build, the hamstorm, in the Norn Fighting Tournament. Silavor UserSilavorSigIcon.png 22:50, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Bug[edit]

I don't think him leaving when you enter areas is a bug. I heard a long while ago that it's actually scripted to play on him being a 'deserter' --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Axelfunx (talk).

Do you remember from who you heard it from? -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 15:26, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I thought he was described as The Red Cloaked Deserter in pre-searing... but when I look I can't find that anywhere. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 11:08, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
The Red-Cloaked Deserter found it. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 11:10, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
(Created the redirect to make it easier to find.)
Yes, he was called a deserter in several quests iirc but I was asking where Axelfunc read that Thom was scripted to be a deserter. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 06:41, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
I think Axelfunx is right, even on the page one of his quotes is "Don't tell anyone you've seen me. I've got a few "unpaid debts" if you know what I mean." it makes sense that he leaves the party since he is sneaky Crabula 14:38, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

???[edit]

Since when was Little Thom a henchmen in EOTN? he should only appear in the Norn Fighting Tournament..... --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 02:53, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Spelling[edit]

After all these years, I still thought his name was Thorn! XP I can still see in-game a space in the "m" that would make it "r" and "n" lol! --UglyLooking 05:33, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

1RV for "leaving in these outposts" list[edit]

zzz consensus time.

I'm of the opinion that a list of outposts where Little Thom (sometimes) leaves the party is unnecessary. Firstly, there is no set list of outposts where this occurres - it can happen in nearly every Prophecies outposts. Therefore the list would never be complete, unless someone really feels like entering a bunch of outposts a million times and compiling a probability list...Secondly, the mere fact that it is a "sometimes" thing already makes such a list of questionable usefulness. Little Thom might leave the party, and then again he might not. So I think the prior note was a sufficient warning; a list does not add any new information. Finally, I don't see this as so big of a problem that it warrants more than a generic warning note. So what if Little Thom leaves your party? It is a minor annoyance at best, and you'd have to really not be paying attention to not notice it happening. It's pretty simple matter to re-add him, too.

I've already made one revert, so I'm done here; it's up to community consensus now whether the list stays or not. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 22:33, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

FWIW, I tend to agree. The list doesn't really add any value above and beyond what the {{anomaly}} says. --DryHumour 23:38, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
It'd be most useful to move this — if some agree to this — to move it either to a sub/talk page or let it stay there and request for research. As far as I can recall, I only experienced this in certain outposts and that always. It might be useless as a warning but could prove useful as a base for research in order to fix this. Maybe (and conspiracy shines through) a developer has the reason why Thom keeps doing this; maybe Thom is just programmed to desert randomly? Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 00:03, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Well, I was going to go ask Linsey but her talk page is in lol lockdown atm. :\ Vili 点 User talk:Vili 00:10, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
In any case, that's what bug reports are for: the details can go there. As it stands, it doesn't really add value for an end user above and beyond the {{anomaly}}. --DryHumour 00:14, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Problem is that the community is much less likely to be motivated to gather information when it is on the bug page. Plus, bugs of this weight are very unlikely to be fixed when they just stick there... or they are most likely to be fixed. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 00:20, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
It is listed as a documentation of the game, as I see it, and as such, because it is an actual in game occurance (repeatable, and provable, etc), it belongs in. 69.182.180.123 00:34, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

9-10 Tactics. Should it be 12 Tactics? *thinks* Batchie 08:04, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Anomaly[edit]

That anomaly about his supposed death doesn't look right. Don't you find out at the end of The Red-Cloaked Deserter that the corpse wasn't actually him? Remiel 06:38, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes you do. Removed it. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 00:05, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Maybe that is why it was posted as a "supposed" death. Maybe they should have him quote Samuel Langhorn Clemens, "The reports of my death have been greatly exagerated." 69.182.188.118 14:16, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Worst in Prophecies[edit]

Just my opinion from recent work in prophecies, but anyone else think Thom and Stefan be the most retarded henchmen in prophecies--Lord randy taylor 02:26, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

They do not have Charge anymore, which is a real tragedy. But at the same time, frontliners are what I'd prefer to expend henchmen on - they are all pretty bad AI so might as well save your heroes for useful things such as Mesmers. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 02:31, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Personally I don't like Eve, but then that was when she used to cast blood ritual nearly continually which resulted in her being very fragile. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 02:36, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
The more she died, the less health lost through BR, and so it was okay actually. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 02:37, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
I used to just bring her along for general energy management help in days of old, but it used to result in my monks doing odd things. (like running about resing her at annoying times). These days I very rarely bring henchies for anything. Myself and a friend tend to hero everything. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 02:40, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
I used them the other day(less concentrated dmg on someone important) As I beat Proph with my monk, and noticed and this is something i said in vent "Christ Stefan and Thom are the worst henchmen in Prophecies, they don't deal dmg they cant tank worth a damn whats the point in there existence" Devona is a better warrior alone then the both of them put together--Lord randy taylor 03:19, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
I never really understood that because on paper she should be horrible. Hammers are PvP weapons (mostly), Devona doesn't even have any reliable knockdowns, and she even has Healing Signet for additional squishiness and fail. But yeah. Considering that Sogolon went for like two years with less than max Paragon's armor, though, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some similar anomalies among the Warrior henchmen. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 03:39, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Rough to explain, her skills by all means aren't supposed to work, but in prophecies they can scrape by, as compared to Stefan and Thom who lets face it make as good a warrior as a monk/warrior with a pair of daggers would in PvP--Lord randy taylor 04:05, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
There is a pretty good (well, gimmicky) Mo/A build that uses Dancing Daggers, Ray of Judgment, Entangling Asp, Holy Strike, Signet of Toxic Shock or something like that. Aside from that, I've never had any real problems with Little Thom and Stefan, except in Hard Mode where Healing Signet really is suicidal. As you say, in Prophecies you can scrape by with pretty crap builds. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 04:33, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
I cleared up the post above meaning a M/W, but I find them to be pretty crap henchman, if you want them for meaty shields, extra dmg, or to fill up space, they suck. When i took my monk through Shiverpeaks, and RoF islands, i used a sabway build, brought the monk henchmen and the warriors(extra healing and something for them to target other than em or the necros) they die to easily its like they don't have proper armor, or if they just suck all together. They just don't seem to work correctly i don't know what it is, but they just fail on there own accord--Lord randy taylor 04:42, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

Removing "The quote about King Jalis is possibly a variation of the phrase "A prince among men," or "a giant among men.""

If this is true, rephrase the speculation into facts that can be proven. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 12:45, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

There are most likely hundreds of quotes referenced (or thought to be referenced) out there in the game that have never been *proven* and are just speculation. You are really going to remove it based solely on how it is phrased? 69.177.225.202 00:55, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
I agree. The play on the phrase is plausible enough to retain the trivia. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 15:44, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Little John[edit]

any chance his name could be inspired by the Robin Hood character? They are both large men known for melee combat. Mist Y (talk) 15:55, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

I'm not familiar enough with the history of such purposeful misnomers (I also can't remember the term for such a thing), but they both use that device.
If you could find out what that term is ("No, Brain, it's not an oxymoron!"), then may I suggest, "Little Thom's name uses a _______ in the same manner as Little John from the Robin Hood stories." It's just hard to know what actually inspired the name, but we can draw parallels with the usage. G R E E N E R 18:26, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
