Delete?[edit]

Can I delete these from my inventory and still get them later? With 10 chars I am lacking space as it is :( --SK 13:07, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes. Etienne 14:23, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Small Reward[edit]

18 Dungeons is a lot to go through, many of those dungeons have quest rewards for 750 faction for the race you did it for. It seems to me 2,500 is a small reward for the work put into the books :P. Dancing Gnome 04:38, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

i agree, but its better than nothing right, im going to do the dungeons anyway but as far as grinding titles this ways its useless cause i got 6k asura total after clearing riven earth so yea not worht it..... --Tenshi Strife 05:32, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
It's an incentive to do the dungeons. I would do them even without this, but it makes it more entertaining. i guess, or something like that --69.109.105.116 06:39, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
I really like the idea behind this and the Hero's Handbook, but 2,500 points does seem like a light reward for the amount of work it represents. Bcstingg 16:00, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Does anyone knows if we can have another one after gaving back the first?Thelvyn 18:38, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
You can have a second one running if you put the first in storage while talking to the guy, this lets you not waste repeats of dungeons/primaries if you dont fill one up before doing another.84.9.36.17 12:28, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
eww yeah, 2500 isn't much. I would like to see more along the lines of 5k :D. but meh I guess I would do these dungeons anyways --Lou-SaydusUser Lou-Saydus Hail Storm.jpg 23:06, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
It does promote doing ALL dungeons instead of only farming 1 or 2, therefore I love it. However it *is* somewhat light in terms of reward, given that you'd have to invest something upwards of 30 hours to complete one dungeon master book. --Xeeron 00:39, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Right, and if the number 5k per hour I've heard tossed around for farming various points is accurate, you could have farmed something like 150,000 points in those 30 hours. To be worthwhile with the current reward, the hero's handbook or master dungeon guide would need to be something you could fill out in 30 minutes. Like the idea, but the reward is paltry. If the reward were better (a lot better), it would promote doing all of the dungeons, but as it stands now, farming is more efficient. Bcstingg 04:30, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
The best way to make it worthwhile would be to make it usable by any character, not onl the one that filled it. So you could use points you do not need (when you hit max rank) with other characters. That is, that your other characters where able to receive the reward from the Hero trainers, but, of course, not other accounts, only the characters in your account. And the reward could be 500 in rank 1, 1k in rank 2, 2k in rank 4, 4k in rank 5, etc... MithranArkanere 16:38, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

{Resetting indent}As a reward and a method of gaining faction, this really falls short. I understand why people would say, "But if it's something you're doing anyways, then consider it a bonus" - But it isn't. Unless you're going for the dwarf title, the points are better earned in another way. If I want Vanguard faction, then doing all the dungeons nets me about 6000 Vanguard faction, plus 2500 for doing the MDG. Assuming it takes an (extremely short) average of 15 minutes to complete each dungeon level, it's 12 hours of work to do. Consider that this same time spent on regular farming runs would net between 25,000 (Assuming 2k faction an hour) and 60,000 faction (Assuming the sorta ridiculous 5k an hour some people are citing). Adjust the average times as you see fit - the proportions remain the same. Craw 15:18, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Fill out a normal mode and hard mode version of this book. 100,000 reputation, on top of whatever you got in the dungeon. 200,000 experience on top of whatever you got in the dungeons, and 20k, on top of whatever you got in the dungeons. Stack that on top of a normal and hard mode Hero's Handbook, and you've got a total of 30k gold, 300,000 experience, and 150,000 reputation as purely a bonus for doing everything once.72.161.115.13 19:30, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Reward Reset?[edit]

By now you probably know that the second time you go to a dungeon you get a lot less points (asuran, norn or ebon v.). But I get the feeling that after you turn in a complete Book and get a new one, the rewards might get reseted? Anyone done that already?

I am currently working on my second dungeon guide and the rewards did not reset.Zophar 12:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

??[edit]

when you give it to some storyteller or whatever, does it disappear or can you show it to like another storyteller? like you show it to asuran then you can show it to norn 1? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Teo .

They keep it, but you can get a new, blank one. -- Gordon Ecker 01:05, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Refilling Master Dungeon Guide[edit]

moved from User talk:Gaile Gray

In the process of playing through GWEN awhile back, I've gotten two Master Dungeon Guides by mistake. I guess had left my half-filled guide in the bank prior to talking to Gedrel and received a blank book. On finishing A Time for Heroes I went to Slaver's Exile and after several visits I managed to finish the Dungeon. To my horror however, instead of the accomplishment being recorded in the more filled guide, it got tallied into the empty book (I had unwittingly placed both books in my inventory by then). Apparently, the record for clearing a Dungeon is noted in the first book in your inventory, as the empty book had been).

Now fast forward to the Hard mode and introduction of filling books for a fee. I paid Gedrel for filling my Hero's Handbook which went smoothly. As I spoke to him regarding my Master Dungeon Guides he did not offer to do the same. I opened first one then the other to discover that one guide now has 9 entries filled in while the other, mostly empty book--save for Slaver's Exile--now has 12. I tried placing either book in the bank and talking to Gedrel about filling but I assume since both Guides have at least 12 logged accomplishments he just offers to take them in exchange for the rewards as laid out in the table accompanying the recent update notes.

I'm not completely sure what happened, but at the same time I'm just relieved that I will not have to redo all the Dungeons I finished to synchronize my nearly empty guide with the other half-filled one. Svartalve File:Svartalve.png 04:43, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

redirect[edit]

i just typed Dmg in the search and it brought me here. shouldnt Dmg go to Damage? --User Icewind Sig.jpegIce'wind 16:22, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Fixed. DMG has been deleted under R2 (implausible typo or search term) and dmg has been turned into a redirect to damage. -- Gordon Ecker 23:34, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Dungeon Master Guide Catch Up[edit]

I had gone out and completed 2 dungeons before realising that I had not taken a D.M.G. with me, so I spoke to the NPC at EOTN and picked up a new one and for the paltry sum of 200g offered to add the 2 dungeons I had completed to my new book. Perhaps we could have an entry on the page about this? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Lady Elyssa (talk).

Stackable = Yes?[edit]

As with the comment I made on the Hero's Handbook discussion page, it shouldn't say "yes" next to "stackable" in the info box. These books aren't stackable at all. --User Angel 1.pngBunny - Angel talk 09:27, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

I figured out how to fix this up and have since corrected it :)(go me!) --User Angel 1.pngBunny - Angel talk 10:14, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

bugged or what?[edit]

sometimes with ANY of the books I find that it doesn't update my book when I had it in my inventory and did the mission. for example, my EOTN guide wasn't completed even though I beat the game and the whole time had the book with me. It completed all but the last one (OF COURSE!!!). Re-doing it sometimes works sometimes doesn't. so these things have to be bugged. maybe it can only update like 4 at a time or something. my NF book is also glitchy... I did some of those missions twice (after the z missions came around) both normal and HM with bonus and everything and wth... no update. SIGH --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Materia user (talk).

I've found this to be true completed Jaga Moraine in HM with my HM Dungeon Guide, got the reward for the quest waited for the time to run down at the end.... still no dungeon completed in the guide.--86.25.210.179 03:54, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

NM Books[edit]

Correct me if I am wrong, but after you reach r8 in a specific title you can no longer return a NM book to that collector for the cash / exp reward? I know you can't get any added title faction for it, just curious if you are still able to get the monetary reward from a full nm book. 99.246.21.170 17:55, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Nope, although, there is a suggestion that would take care of that (end shameless plug). -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 17:59, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
I just found out I got fucked over by this pretty hard. I've taken my time maxing out master of the north and completing dungeons but I've still done a decent amount of them and done all the primary quests on both modes so as a result I'm rank 8 or higher with each EotN faction, but I never turned in my dungeon guide beforehand since I wanted it filled out completely. Now I learn that I'm past the point of no return and to make things worse the LAST dungeon I need is Slavers' Exile and I've even killed 3 of the sub bosses already, but now the book is a pretty huge waste. I can still get the gold by turning it in on another character but I needed that 40,000 rep and I was thinking about stacking up exp rewards from books and going for legendary survivor, BUT NOT ANYMORE.
Why the hell can't you turn in normal mode dungeon guides past rank 8? I can sort of understand that policy for Hero's Handbooks but the dungeon guide takes a long ass time to fill out and I just got shafted up the ass. Pjwned 05:36, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
LOL OR I CAN'T EVEN TURN IT IN FOR ANY MONEY ON ANOTHER CHARACTER BECAUSE IT'S CUSTOMIZED. That's really fucking cool ANet. Pjwned 07:49, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
I like how you were apparently unable to find this article in the 4 years it's been around, but did find a 2-year old conversation on its talk page to respond to after you hit your problem. -- Hong 11:54, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
I like how it was never changed in the 4 years the article has been around despite how lame it is and how you assume I've been on the wiki for that long. Pjwned 22:30, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Overspill on NM book[edit]

if i have say 70K rep and hand in a full NM book will it cap at 80K or set my rep to 110K?

you get 110K 203.16.182.12 09:15, 9 August 2010 (UTC) MK

Bugged, or did I miss something?[edit]

So I did most of the dungeons without my book in both NM and HM, now I want to get them filled and finish the last few so I can turn them in. One problem: The idiot NPC's won't let me pay to fill my pages in. And before you say it, no I did not do them on another book, these were my first 2 books (yes I procrastinate, got other more important issues at hand like guild and alliance). Anywho, has anyone else seen this? Its very frustrating to lose all that time. Nay the One and Only User Nay the One and Only SIG.jpg 03:06, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
