Ways to earn points[edit]

This means the dungeons or the mission missions?--Insane Maestro 16:10, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

I got five points towards this track after doing a missionlike quest with Jora. - anja talk 16:22, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Appears to be so. But we will just have to wait and find out... ~ Reaper 17:15, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Finishing dungeons will give points.
Actually, finishing the primary, mini-mission, quests will give points toward this title. I have finished 3 of those quests now and I have 15 points. It wouldn't even be possible if finishing dungeons would give this title because there are 18 Dungeons, and 18 times 5 is 90, and not 100. So you wouldn't be able to get the title then.Alovich 18:16, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Does redoing a mission give you more North points? Is it even possible to redo missions in this chapter? 68.186.242.223 03:15, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

You can redo the mini-missions by getting the quests from the fountain thingy in your Hall of Monuments. I don't know if it will give points another time.Alovich 12:30, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

As far as I know during the Sneek Peak Weekend you can get 5 points each for the 3 primary quest "tasks" (Curse of the Nornbear, Blood Washes Blood, A Gate Too Far) and you get 10 points each for the 3 dungeons (Frostmaw's Burrows, Sepulchre of Dragrimmar, Raven's Point), resulting in a possible maximum of 45 points. Of course I might be missing something... T.T.H. 21:46, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

There are 4 dungeons so you can get a total of 55 points currently as it seems.
I've only done two of the mini-quests and 1 dungeon and I have 20 points. I think I got 5 points as a reward for the quest that takes you down into Darkrime Delves. - BeX iawtc 06:29, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry I must have gotten the 10 from that, but I'm wondering whether that quest I did is repeatable so that I can record it in my dungeon book that the storyteller talks about. It had better be. :( - BeX iawtc 06:38, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
It is repeatable, but you get only once points from it 217.123.100.130 09:21, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
It was called The Misanthropic Jotun Principle. It was fun. :) - BeX iawtc 09:22, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

I've got 100 points. Never noticed the title track until tonight. Kstarfire 04:12, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I got 88 points now, previously 55 so the rewards must have been increased=0 217.123.100.130 06:26, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Interesting... My points when the weekend ended were 45 and it's still at 45... Btw, Kstarfire, can you tell us what level 2 is and how many points for it? - Tanetris 06:46, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

My points at the end of the preview was at 15. Now, they're at 37. Unless each mission gives a different amount, there must be something else that adds to the title that we're missing, as 37 isn't divisible by 3. 70.68.50.230 19:28, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

That was me. Forgot to log in... Marin Alacet 19:29, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Not quite. After release, you get points for exploring similar to the Cartographer titles for the other campaigns. The points are awarded retroactively, so if you explored a lot during the preview, you get a bunch of points when you first log in now. ~ Kailianna Firesoul 08:28, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

everytime you fight one of the norn bear form guards at res shrines you recieve 1 point towards this title

Mapping[edit]

I think you get points for exploring the map or killing monsters. I was running around in a zone today, and the count went up. I suspect it is either due to map unfogs or monster deaths. Any confirmation? 128.255.107.15 17:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I confirm on this i still dont know if it is the exploring or killing (i think exploring becuase you can do that only once). I was walking in an explorable and my title did get up with 1. Schaapieo 19:57, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
I can confirm exploration giving points, I was just watching it carefully and was nowhere near monsters while exploring and got a point.

Rank 3[edit]

to get rank 3 you gotta get all the dungeons+missions cleared, plus 100% of the map explored — Skuld 21:35, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

I assume this is a max title? 99.245.143.39 06:31, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Something isn't quite adding up for me. I've been focusing on 100% exploration for a while now and have completed all the main missions and am now at 185 points with 13 dungeons left to do. I'm sure I've missed a couple of little gaps somewhere but not 35 points worth. Unless Dungeon's count for exploring? --Stanz 06:41, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Ive been wondering the same (5 dungeons left, 258 points so far, but not everything explored) My theories are maxing the eotn titles, or completing ALL sungeons gives bonus points.84.9.36.17 13:31, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

maxing titles also gives 10 points per maxed title, I got +10 points when I maxed my guardian of cantha(might've been a coincidence somehow or so) 195.73.178.108 12:10, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

They may be planning to add more points if/when they add hard mode in the future, therefore this title may not be maxable at this time. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 13:36, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm almost sure they will add hard mode in eotn, put hard mode on in lion's arch and you will see the following: [| Image of Hard Mode in EotN] , so i think were almost sure it will come 217.123.100.130 14:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree HM will be coming. I have 278 points right now with a few dungeons left. I don't think you HAVE to record it in the hero handbook for it to count, but is there confirmation on this?Archangel Avoca 19:58, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Gaile has already confirmed that Hard Mode for GW:EN is coming --Cynaes 19:05, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

I have the delver title at rank8. Rank 9 is Epic Delver. (Posted that yesterday.) But the beacons do not give any blessings anymore. This was the same way with the Sunspear points before they introduced Hard Mode. I think this title goes further than rank 3 as well then in Hard Mode. Ate (86.82.36.54 14:23, 3 September 2007 (UTC)).

Rank 3[edit]

I also got 185 points (95 in preview) and im almost 100% sure i got the map complete now, and still need the Destroyers quests. also im thinking only quest 3/4/5/7/8/9/11/12/13/15/16 from hero book give 5 points (else people should have 60 points after preview eotn). Also not sure if snowman dungeon gives 10 points.

Dungeons[edit]

I just did Frostmaw's Burrows, and if I'm not mistaken I got 20 points for it. Which would make sense in a way, since you also get two reward items from the chest at the end.
All other dungeons I did so far gave only 10 points as mentioned above.
Can anybody else confirm the 20 points for Frostmaw's? Xelonir 22:19, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

I suspect the Dungeon rewards differ with difficulty. Seems Froni's lair gives nothing. Backsword 00:33, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

You're not able to reach rank 3 yet[edit]

i have now 305 points and have only 1 dungeon left (yust have to kill ducan) and have 99-100% map if slaver's exile dont give me 40 points i wont get 350 .. so nobody can be sure r4 is 500 points--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Cruel .

Probably only by vanquishing areas of GW:EN in Hard Mode. Which obviously isn't available at this time. Kailden Jera 10:21, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
So why there is r4 Master if the North. I think we have to remove it, untill there is a screenshot. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Cruel .
I had to redo the Primaries and Dungeons I did during the Preview and those prior to getting a Master Dungeon Guide to increase. I have all but 1 dungeon to do, mapped 100%, but I did 7 dungeons without the book, I have 270 points which leaves 80 points for max (1+7x10=80), it seems to add up. Dragon 01:56, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
I have 302 points as of now, all 18 dungeons, all main quests and I cant see there being more then a few points in missing map on my screen. Slavers was 10 points just like every other dungeon. Gandorf

Total Points[edit]

I think max points is 325.

Currently 205 points, finished all quest, and still need 12 dungeons.

dunno i only get a max of 315 is there any not priamry quest gives me points?

Mission/Quest things = 55 Points

Dungeons = 180 Points

Mapping = 100 Points

Makes a grand total of 335 available currently.

- does anyone have more than 310 points? i feel like i did everything (dungeon, mission, map).

- miscalculation? Mission/Quest things 5*16=80 Points --=Lupus= 00:57, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Not all dungeons give the 10 points. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:213.119.59.98 .

i have atm 315 points dont get more tommorow i will finished all quuest then i can say i fmy points chance

There is something wrong in this calculations but i can't say what is it. I have 318 points and i haven't finish mapping yet. Other site says you get 180 points from dungeons, and i think it does makes sense. I do believe a dungeon may give more than 10 points, but i can't confirm yet until i get another character trough there. I won't edit this because i can't say what data is wrong, but, 316 is not the max you can get right now, that information it's wrong. Ok, someone just changed the max to 336, the other values, one of them still wrong.189.162.55.159 01:46, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Master of the North Title Track[edit]

2 Pioneer of the North 200
3 Veteran of the North 350
4 Master of the North 500
5 Grand Master of the North 600
6 (Max) Legendary Grand Master of the North 750
The stepping looks wrong. From rank 3 to 4 its 150 and from 4 to 5 only 100. I would say its 550 for rank 4 and 800 for rank 5. -Khan Reaper Kerensky 17:56, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Although this discussion is theoretical you can actually play with numbers. With an increase of 50 points for each rank you get 100:200:350:550:800:1100. This is perfect :D There are 11 missions, 15 areas and 16 Dungons. Since missions, dungeons and vanquishing will be the only ways to gain points in HM - I cannot believe that doing a dungeon over and over again counts here - I calculated 20 points for each dungeon and every vanquish. That's 620 points. 15 points for each mission in HM will contribute 165 points. That is 315 + 620 + 165 = 1100 points. The damage of the snowmen is skillbased, so no extra damage in HM. Fronis will be harder but still easy - with the golden daggers and a reasonable amout of dagger mastery. Points here would be silly in HM. But why guess? The numbers speak for themselves and they are out of touch with the intelligent designed things above... 2:41, 26 September 2007 (CET) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:79.210.231.33 .
Legendary Grandmaster?? You do know that all "legendary" titles are ones in which you get the max title in all 3 stand-alones. This is complete Bull!
That is untrue - Legendary Spearmarshal... But i do have to agree that the stepping does look very wrong with this one - 350, 500, 600, 750 - dosn't work. FirstSunspear 08:56, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

You can get 101 points for exploration[edit]

I've got 266 points, with 5 dungeons to go. Guess I've been extremely thorough exploring :p Not that the one point makes a difference. Showb1z 17:02, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

You can get 100 Points from exploration, but not every dungeon gives points!!
I now have 296 points, with Kathandrax and Slaver's Exile to go, so unless either of those gives 9 points, the max for cartography is 101...

STOP reverting cartography to 100 points, I have 306 points, with only the elite dungeon to do. You can get 101 points from cartography! Showb1z 21:00, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

come on send us a screenshot otherwise we wont believe...

What exactly do I gain again from lying about this? oh right, nothing... Showb1z 18:40, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

i found i site in german shows how to get 101 points but only guys the right quest can do 101 points so you cant get on normal way http://gw.gamona.de/forum/showpost.php?p=2766087&postcount=182

i would like to point out that the way the above poster suggests getting 1 extra poitn is 1: exploiting bugs and 2: an extreme waste of fine for one additional point. i translated the page to look. trust me, not worth it. -TehBuG-
I didn't use any of those quests to get 101 points. Showb1z 18:37, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

I think the notion of 101 available for cartography goes in line with having a little bit of redundancy built in. Thats what they did for all the other mappable areas and would anticipate the same thing dont here. In other words, i doubt the extra 1 over 100 is needed for anything, but is indeed possible and counted due to the system of pionts over the capped percentages. 72.11.116.63 18:26, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes that's what I thought from the beginning, you can go "over" 100% exploration in all campaigns.

80 quest points isnt right[edit]

you will not get 5 points for every prim quest, only the sub Prim quest for ebon/asura etc. Because other count for dungeon/nothing

  • can confirm that. Tried it today and got no points for Northern Allies and Against the Destroyers --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:193.172.170.26 .

Vanquish?[edit]

Has anyone tested if killig every single foe in an area gives points towards tht title? --62.68.18.103 12:24, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, i killed all mobs in a zone and their was no benefit to it. maybe i missed one, but i thought to be very thorough. Now we wait for hardmode i guess. There really isnt alot of content here, so i would imagine hm for gwen to be sooner then later. 72.11.116.63 14:10, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

My theory is that each explorable with give you 10 points towards the title if you Vanquish it in Hard Mode. As there are 15 explorables, thats 150 Master points. -- Alesain 20:48, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

You get 15 points for vanquishing an area in HM. Just did Grothmar Wardowns. Lluvia 20:51, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

HM Repeatable Quests[edit]

Im assuming that 100% exploration, all primary quests done, all dungeons done, all areas 100 % vanqished, all primary quests done on Hard Mode, and All Dungeons done on Hard Mode should add up to max title...UNLESS...you need to max the rep titles and they add x amount of points...hope not...but ill prolly max all 5 anyway...Killer Revan 19:43, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

I have 20 more points than I should have[edit]

I finally got to 130 points today. I had competed each Norn and Vanguard primary quest, which is 30 points and explored the entire map for 100 points. I had done no other dungeons besides the Snowman and Punchout (accounts for no points). I had 130 Points. I check my points a few hours later (130 achieved before the update) after the update and I have 150 points. Where did these 20 points come from? Am I severely overlooking something or is this a glitch? Please post for any proof or additional information you need, or explain what I am overlooking (if that is the case).User Zathic EOTN Point Glitch.png--Zathic 03:49, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Fronis Irontoe's Lair and Secret Lair of the Snowmen now give points like the other dungeons. -- Gordon Ecker 05:08, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Ah, so it adds up now. I figured that was the case.--Zathic 20:01, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

September 27, 2007 update[edit]

( i posted this also in the discussion page for the September 27, 2007 update) Ok, they fixed the 10 points on the 2 dungeons So max now 335. (336 if you use some tricks)

Looks like 3x5 points missing (the 3 (or is it 4) Primary quest, that you always see in your book). Or...  ?

5 points short[edit]

I currently have 320 points, having explored everything (well, except for the 101st percent), having done all the dungeons except for Slavers' Exile and having finished EotN. Obviously, I have 5 points less than I should have. This is exactly the ammount of one primary quest, so my suspicion is that I didn't get credits for one of them, for some reason. I didn't finish any of the repeatable primariy quests during the preview event, but I had Curse of the Nornbear in my questlog since then. I also didn't get this quest in my Hero's Handbook when I did it the first time, but had to redo it, so I suspect this one to be the culprit. However, I have done it three times by now and have turned in my first Hero's Handbook, but Im still 5 points short. I'm currently working on completing a second one, in the hope of getting the missing 5 points in the process. Anybody experienced something similar? --84-175 (talk) 21:20, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

The other possibility is that you didn't map as closely as you thought you did. It's amazing how much you can miss, even if visually it all looks mapped. I used the user mod that turned the fog red and found at over a dozen places to explore after I thought I had completed mapping (I was short four points). --Thervold 18:28, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
That was my first thought, too. But according to this mod there isn't really anything that I'm missing, definitely not 5% (that would be something like half an explorable area). Meanwhile I have filled and turned in my second Hero's Handbook. Didn't help. :/ --84-175 (talk) 07:18, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, there's a note under the "Known Issues" of that mod that GW:EN broke the Tyria map for that mod. The last supported update for the mod was on August 3rd, before the GW:EN preview event and subsequent release. --Thervold 21:06, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Hard Mode Discussion and title tiers ?[edit]

With over 1000 pts now available according to the front page article itself is there anymore talk on the correct tiers for this title ? What's max level and are dungeons and vanquishing the only ways to move this title track forward ? What about repeatable quests in Hard Mode ? I can confrim the 15 pts for an area vanquish but have yet to do any of the others in Hard mode. My own pts jumped from 336 to 351 so 15 pts would be correct for an area vanquish. Tier 4 is Conqueror of the north 550 pts. This discussion page is in bad need of some house cleaning as well.Stalking Feathers 01:58, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Map Exploration[edit]

Currently the article says "1 point per around 0.99% of the map explored" shouldn't it be "1 point per around 1.01% of the map explored" since 0.99*100=99, which isn't the amount of points you can get from exploring? Lyra Valo User Lyra Valo LVsig.jpg

its 0.99*101= 99,99 (okay not exactly 100 but it says around) 87.160.77.128 17:51, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
To explain the math, we have 101 points available and 100% of the map available. By factoring by 100 (essentially what you're trying to do, from the other end), you'd actually get 1.01 points per 1% of the map, but obviously you can't get a fraction of a point. On the other hand, factoring by 101 gets us 1 point per 100%/101, which is approximately 0.99% (0.990099 with the 0099 repeating infinitely, if you want to be tremendously specific). Hope that makes sense. If not, just trust us that the article's right. - Tanetris 18:19, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Before I bought EotN, one of my characters had 1 point in Master of the North. I've never done EotN before or what so ever, any idea how I actually got that point? 82.171.2.222 18:00, 26 October 2008 (UTC) Guest --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:82.171.2.222 (talk).

Did you do the mission to get M.O.X.? Going there ends up giving you 1 point toward Master of the North for Cartography.--Pyron Sy 16:18, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

How to keep track of your progress[edit]

You can use the Hero and Dungeon books but there is a simpler way. In both Normal mode as well as Hard Mode, each of the 18 dungeons and 11 repeatable primary quests is given a specific icon. Below is a table that describes what each icon is.

Type Not done in NM Not done in HM Done in NM Done in HM
Dungeon Grey Door Red Door Open chest Open chest
Primary Empty grey standard Empty red standard Red Flag Gold Flag

It would be fun if the proper icons were added in the table. I couldn't find them but I'm sure they are somewhere on this wiki. Disconnect 13:45, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the table. I tweaked and added your table to the page. Feel free to add details to any page. As long as they're valid details, don't worry too much about they are presented. Once the table's there, someone else will probably get the urge to add the proper icons to it. :) -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 04:22, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Extra Point[edit]

With the little slivers of map that weren't intended to be gotten (like those from Zinn's Quest, Zinn's Trial, and the Norn Alemoot), I finally got an extra point beyond the 101. Not sure a screenshot will be approbatious because I don't have the title maxed out :/ SarielV 20 x 20px 21:00, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

i was just wondering if you would be able to actually get 102+ points from exploring if you whent off the map, thanks for saying XDAurenX 03:09, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Dungeon exploration[edit]

Does it counts toward the exploration part? My guess would be no, but it never hurts to be sure.--84.2.115.181 00:38, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't think so. Jackster 18:09, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
Doubt it - isn't dungeon exploration like FoW/UW & other "underground" exploration, they always fogged up again whenever you go back into the areas. --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 12:22, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Only 1st time completion in NM and HM count toward the tile. 66.170.212.17 12:26, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Extra point section[edit]

Since there are 31 extra points, I corrected the note to say you can skip two vanquishable areas. BladeDVD 13:10, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. (Also: thank you for taking the extra time to post an explanation.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:15, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

HoM Statue[edit]

When can I put this statue in my Hall of Monuments? It doesn't state so in the article so I'm just guessing max title? It would be nice if that could be added to the article... [[Xzabre]] 10:29, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

All individual-accomplishment PvE-titles must be maxed before adding. The only ones that need not be maxed are based on Allegiance rank (Kurz/Lux) and the luck-based titles (all of which are account-wide). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:28, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
and gamer (also account wide pvE-title )
Gamer is an account-wide PvP-title (although there are PvE methods for advancing it). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:00, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
