Question..

...What's the point having mini pets?--BTR 21:42, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

They are cool and represent your commitment to the game and ArenaNet's appreciation for that commitment. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 21:45, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Oh--BTR 21:55, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Mini-pets are like elite armor....only more....useless, only thing they are good for is so you can say "haha look what i have", rare mini's are just another reason to stroke your e-pen. 69.131.130.247 08:57, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

You guys act like A-net created these to make players happy........ Their sole motivations were towards economic manipulation. Before mini-pets A-net would constantly punish the rich and reward the poor to maintain thier "Player Driven Economy" (ROTFL) These little pets along with title tracks to add value to party items and such were all they could come up with. The fact that adding grind only makes the economy less appealing to most seems not to factor into thier thinking. In any event thats what mini's were for.

Question. Which mini's are specifically considered "rare" by the hall of monuments calculator and which are unique? My Green Moa shows as unique but I can't find anything that tells me which are considered rare. Thanks Oct 13, 2010

i think that golds and purples are considered rare more gold then purple.- User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 04:14, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

In-Game Miniatures

Im trying to find out the drop chance percentage for the Miniature Mallyx, Miniature Polar Bear and the Miniature Ghostly Hero. You recieve them all from chests of some discription but i can't find out the % chance of getting one. I'v looked on the wiki pages for the Miniatures and the Chests that drop them but found nothing. I did find some tables added by other Users but none of them had even one Miniature drop. Im guessing that the drop chance is about 1% but would like to know the actual percentage. Can Anyone help me?

User Tytan Crow Crow.jpg Titan Crow 20:29 22 December 2008 (UTC)

At this point, with so many wiki people farming the miniature polar bear, I would guess it's drop chance to be much less than 1% (possibly on the order of 0.1% or 0.01%), but with such a low drop rate, there really is no way to be sure. Same problem with the miniature mallyx and ghostly hero. The only way we're going to be able to accurately find out these percentages is if ANet leaks them to the wiki. Celestial Ox

We're getting close to the Canthan New Year 2009 time. Being based on the Chinese New Year, we might expect it to start in just a few weeks. I suppose we might expect a Celestial Ox minature this year? Sure hope it won't be as maddening as the Miniature Polar Bear. 76.30.79.54 23:27, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Naw, it won't be as bad as the mini Polar Bear, lol. They come out of the Lunar Fortunes so be sure to farm a lot of them. I got a Celestial Rat last year as well as many friends so they can't be too hard to get. I'm just wondering if they'll make a new skin for it, use a celestial form of the cows the roam outside, or if they use the model from the ox in Prophecies [which would be awesome :D]. Magic 08:52, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
I highly doubt a new model. Just to much work/benefit, esp. as Linsey has said modelers are rather busy. A celestrial skin on an existing model would be my guess. Backsword 08:56, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Minipets as Allies

I was just wondering.. the page states minipets are treated as allies and can give buffs on specific skills like the Paragons "Leaders Comfort." But I got to thinking, if it helps with skills then by chance does it work with the Paragons Leadership attribute? When using a shout or chant does it factor in as an ally to give back energy? Magic 08:58, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

No. --Jette User Jette awesome.png 09:00, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Wrong. Yes it does as long as the paragon shout or chant affects allies. 189.33.71.221 15:03, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Highly probable that hundreds of high-end miniatures were lost

It is a lot more probable that hundreds of "high-end" mini's were generated snd ADDED than it is that they were lost. A-net didn't even come close to banning everyone who duped stuff. For the sake of Argument lets say they got 99.9% of the people that duped multiple stacks of a particular rare-minipet. Lets also say that they located and banned 99.9% of the people that bought them and redistributed them. (I think it is pretty fair to say that those numbers are very very very generous, there is no way to know an exact percentage, but I know a few people who got over on the duping bug, and I am certain I do not know .01% of the people that duped.) Now lets say that mini-pet was Kanaxai, of which there are supposed to be 49 in game. all it would take was for 1 stack of them to remain in order to increase the total prescence by 500%. Even if the original 49 were removed that would be generating them not losing them. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.221.118.93 (talk • contribs) at 16:14, 6 May 2009 (UTC).

Leadership has a cap, didn't you know? User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 14:26, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Minis have been observed having drops assigned to them.

GuildWiki has a clear screen shot of a drop assigned to a miniature Gwen. That seems like sufficient proof of the statement until/unless someone has evidence that it was a hoax. Ideally, I'd like to see this wiki have its own screen shot. In the meantime, I hope this link will do: [1]   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 05:44, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Uh, look at the talk page for the image in question. I'm 99% positive it's just a guy with that name for his character. ANet didn't reserve even important character names like Shiro Tagachi, so I'm pretty sure anyone can make a char named Miniature Gwen (unless someone else has it already obv). -Auron 06:24, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
I read the notes and I've seen the screenshot [2], which shows a full party (with no one named Miniature Gwen). On the one hand, Auron, I agree that you are correct that anyone could easily create the toon just for a screen shot hoax. On the other hand, the guy has insisted that it was his guildie's mini's drop, so shouldn't GWW:AGF apply?
How would you want to go ahead proving/disproving the claim? Is there anything to the theory proposed on the page that suggests that heroes/minis auto-collect their drops? (The idea being if you move a hero/mini quickly as the item drops you can prevent the pick-up from taking place, thus leaving it with an unusual assigned to.)   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 06:39, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
As far as proof concerns, 1 screenshot is hardly enough, at least on this wiki. It could be a newly introduced bug, though, since there haven't been reports about this on the past.
If possible, someone with time could try duplicating the bug, since the described method for attaining the results appears to be simple enough. Until then, i would avoid adding it to the article.--Fighterdoken 07:58, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
It looks like a fake. I prefer a screenshot more effective than that. I think we should take it down until there's more proof surrounding the drops. I've never seen a drop like that for any of the miniatures I've had out. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 14:59, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Even if it's real, one known instance in three and a half years hardly seems noteworthy. 24.197.253.243 15:25, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
"As far as proof concerns, 1 screenshot is hardly enough, at least on this wiki." "one known instance in three and a half years" What we have is one documented instance for something that, at best, is only going to happen in extremely rare circumstances, which might be less than 1-2x/year. Even if the theory above is true (and, atm, it has no documentation afaik), it's impossible (in a practical sense) for the typical player to create the controlled conditions necessary to replicate it.
So, our choices are: (1) assume a hoax, (2) assume it happened, or (3) set about trying to verify the possibility that it could happen some other way. I'm willing to take the time to try to validate this via ANet; who (there) is likely to be able/willing to respond?   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:32, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
The thing is, that small of an image. I'm questioning it, because do you see that item with the icon over it , highlighting the name of the mini, etc.? I think with the image being so small... It's possible of a hoax more than real. I'm agreeing with you though Tennesse Ernie Ford, I prefer to consult with Anet on it and consider it like a bug, maybe. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 18:48, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Also look at the second image, [3]. Anyhow, who at ANet should I consult with first?   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:59, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

The reason they can't do a mini Glint is because she's too big. The wingspan alone would make her twice the size of any other pet. –Jette 01:01, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Baby Dragon is not as big as Glint. InfestedHydralisk 02:21, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I just checked, it's not even as big as a Siege Devourer. InfestedHydralisk 02:23, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
The problem is the proportions of the model, not the size of the monster. –Jette 02:43, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
It's not even that, it's her polygon structure. They said it was "technically" impossible, not that it would look odd. And since they have to "borrow" artists from the GW2 project, I doubt they'll get one just to make a new model for Glint that would be technically possible to minify, maybe with her wings folded for aesthetics. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 16:34, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
I actually attempted to make Glint in mini form along with a lot of other iconic and badass things that people have asked for but I wasn't sure if we could do. I just made them all and tested to see if they worked. Glint, did not work. I sized her down as far as I could before it would start crashing the server (learned the hard way, woot!) and she was still huge. Like, rly huge. Not so much with the miniature. Sorry I didn't believe you, Curtis, when you told me 2 years ago that we couldn't do Glint, I tried anyway and it was totally worth it. She was still amazingly cool to look at. I'd love to sneak her in as an uber crazy ridiculously rare mini (since that's the only way I could justify it - you'd almost never see her so it'd be ok, right?), but who know's if that'll happen. Oh yeah, also, the anims totally break down when sized that small. Zhu Hanuku gets away with it by being a floaty kraken. Glint just looked kinda broken. So it would actually need some anim love to be shippable. So..... yeah.... =x - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 08:07, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Oh and hate to break it to ya, but the baby dragon is the same amdl file as Glint, it's just been sized down. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 08:08, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Miniatures Fail Again

The 5th years were a disappointment. The Siege Devoureris is like the Whiptail Devourer, King Adelbern is really similar to Prince Rurik, and Oola is similar to the Asura. I think the Seer could have been a purple or greater rarity. Lastly, M.O.X. was a pretty lame idea for the green.

Firstly... Free... Secondly... If you got a 5th year gift quit the complaining, consider players of the game who never get the newest gift because of starting later... sure eventually I'll get a 5th year gift for my characters, in like 3 more years... but by then someone like yourself will be complaining about the 8th year gift choices... The gifts are only a real joy to the oldest of players, now let me go check if any of my characters have their second year gifts yet... 192.203.160.241 13:17, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Why Mox!?

Most people have no desire to own a miniature MOX. Why didn't they make something cool like Rift Warden. MOX is straight Mickey Mouse. Many people made good suggestions on Gaile Gray's page; apparently our ideas don't represent the community, o wait, we are the community. Bummer.( I wouldn't buy a Mini Mox for 50k, let alone 50 ecto.-[1MIND]Tear777 - Tear Wunmynd Vll I do like the mini Ventari, Oola, and Seer. I also know that some people will be very happy with the Drake.

Picture

Why is such an obvious picture of a photoshopped image on the page? Minipets page would be better represented by a few players standing around with their own pets out. 192.203.160.241 13:41, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Good question. It also makes it look like you can put out multiple minis at once. It's a technically good photoshop, but not a good representation of the article. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 16:12, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
yea i hate the image i wish i would have taken screens of this years April fools joke....- User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 10:19, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, April's Fool's pics wouldn't be a good representation, either. So far those "jokes" have never repeated, so it's not likely we'll ever see it happen again. I did take this. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 12:27, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
nope, nothing more would be needed than a party with their minis out or an intown screenshot of people with their minipets... it would be very hard to have the mini's in a line but having all the minis in shot be facing the "camera" would not be too hard... 192.203.160.241 16:15, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Why is the picture for the front-page section the one with dead Gwen? Isn't that a bit morbid? I thought it was vandalism at first...--Cyberman User Cyberman Mastermind Sig.gif 18:53, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

its an example of the dead mini bug... tho since the bug is no longer possible I wonder why its still there 192.203.160.241 18:57, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Price stupidity?

I've been collecting minis for a while and have never seen the persistent ridiculous pricing for new birthday minis as for 5th year. Since when do renewable (no matter how rare they are there will always be more) mini pets command 200+ extos (6k x 200 = 1.2 million). Someone suggested that since farming builds were nerfed that every one thinks they can recoup that way. There is also the notion of novelty - because they are new they command more. At those prices you might think about real rare ones if they are available. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.56.41.52 (talk).

Supply & demand. InfestedHydralisk 20:11, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Why not a kind of pricing on wiki on minis?

Cause it's wiki, not a price market. You can check it out at guru. InfestedHydralisk 00:22, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

New Minis

I was thinking... we should have a new section for the Royal Gift minis. Just loping them in with In-Game on the table seems inappropriate. Eive_Windgrace 03:31, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Why does it seem inappropriate? -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 10:34, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
yea the in-game section is the most appropriate place for the minis.- User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 10:55, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Minis should have a greater purpose

I think that it would be a lot more satisfing if minis were obtained not by birthday presents but by sucessfully killing the given creature a specific number of times in the hardest mode. The mini should signify your superiority over that enemy and should be a monument to your accomplishments. Obviously non-enemy minis would have to obtained in a different way. They could either be kept in the birthday presents or given as a reward to a really hard quest/s given by the minis character. I say this because I hate the idea of waiting years in hopes of getting the mini you want only to be disappointed and to never get another shot at it except for buying it. It would just be way more satisfing to me if the minis had some real meaning more than luck! This is supposed to be a game of skill not of luck but too much in this game is dependant on luck! Luck doesnt make the game more challenging it just makes it more annoying. Randomization should only happen where it is necesarry or appropriate.

I Like this idea, it would be an awsome addition to Guild Wars 2. Although for the superiority to remain, the miniatrues would have to be exclusive (customized) to the character/account that had achieved the number of kills to obtain the miniature. I can see this working as an extra tab/box in your inventory that would hold all the miniatures you have successfully gained. This would however mean that Anet would have to come up with a different idea for birthday presents.. however that wouldn't be hard would it? --Alien User Alien Sig.png 19:17, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
I would like it if they just picked crap up for me when my inventory isn't full. –Jette 01:18, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Trivia

"If you double-click your miniature to take it out, then while it's still out, put the mini you Xunlai Chest, your mini will stay with you untill you leave the area that you are in." Couldn't I just as easily double click on a miniature in a Xunlai Chest? 71.129.56.0 22:48, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Yes. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 23:29, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

114 different miniatures?

Isn't the number actually 111 since all Miniature Greased Lightnings share the same skin? Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 04:28, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Established area for trading?

Question: Is there an established area people go to for the purpose of trading and/or acquiring minipets from other players? Like is Lion's Arch District 1 the best place, or Kamadan? Or is the trade chat channel global across all towns and districts? Redscull 20:40, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Like everything from everything; Kamadan, American dists is the place to buy/sell everything, nothing is specified (aside from the small feather community of LA int1).--NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon6.png 20:43, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
I have better luck selling War Supplies in LA, buying zkeys in GToB, and doing any type of mini trading in eotn outpost. American markets are always more populated and about half the ads in the trade window are from AED1, but lots of people post from others.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:48, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
^Personaly, ive never been to EoTN to check the trading there, The FPS realy pisses me off, but heres a short summary list.
Lions Arch: War In Kryta Items & Feathers.
EotN: Minipets (?).
Eye of the North: Z-Keys.
Kamadan (Spamadan) : Everything else.
