Finale of Restoration[edit]

I dont know how to fix/edit it or I would do it myself: Someone - when making the chart - forgot to put PVE and PVP beside "finale of restoration' skill/

Yeah, it still is not fixed to read correctlyMystiLefemEle 10:17, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

motivation much?[edit]

moved from Help:Ask a game question#motivation much

hi i would just like to say it s about time that someone realised NO ONE USES MOTIVATION theres like 20+skills that are just a waste anet needs to really look at this area and re work it,i dont know if this is the right place to post but i play paragon as my main char and feel the motivation skills are pointless --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Hellskeep guardian (talk).

Credit where its due[edit]

I realize that there are a lot of skills that lack in any sort of healing... but then again, the paragon is damage mitigation oriented, so the healing doesn't need to be as great as other professions (monk). In addition, with mending refrain (no not the best, but the continual upkeep in battle is always nice) and Finale of restoration (An extra 75 hp per chant never hurts) along with a once useful elite (song of rest... it has been put to rest now.) and signet of synergy (doesn't heal as much as a monk skill... but pretty useful in a pinch, specially when all party members are taking 35% less damage anyhow), the line can hold its own. True, Song of Restoration would do better to heal for the next 2 skills like it used to, and aria of restoration does seem to need a lower recharge time, but overall, this line can still be useful, and in comparison to command this line actually carries a few good elites. When mixed with command, leadership, or simply TNoF, motivation can do just as well as any other healing prof. just make sure to keep a level head and maintain echoes...Ζεφ 02:41, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

I think you're being WAY too forgiving. Motivations kicks serious amounts of ass. Song of Purification is, imo, the most powerful condition removal in the game, being followed close by It's Just a Flesh Wound which is pretty much a shout version of Restore Condition(Yeah, I know RC has SERIOUS healing in it). Song of Restoration, at high motivation, can heal for about a 100HP, for 10 energy and you still have Leadership giving you energy back. Mending Refrain, Finale of Restoration and Finale of Purification, all offer good pressure relieve, particularly if you have at least one other paragon in your team. The Power is Yours gives your whole team a bit of energy while triggering echoes every 3-4 seconds (and giving YOU energy back from leadership). Aria of Zeal, Lyric of Zeal, Zealous Anthem and Energizing Finale all open up possibilities for you to run as a battery, and you have quite a degree of flexibility. If you run, say, TPiY, Blazing Finale, Finale of Restoration and Lyric, you can feed your monk energy, inflict lots of burning and Relieve some pressure with periodic auto-heals on key people. This line rocks real hard. - VileLasagna 18:08, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
I find Command a lot more motivating than Motivation... which is weird. Never Give Up, Never Surrender and We Shall Return are all restorative powers with instant activation and big effects, plus with all the damage enhancers, armour boosters and utility effects, what more could I want from an attribute? I really can't think of anything sensible right now. Cirian 04:51, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, Command is better because its got a far better balanced skill set. For a start, the only reliable way for a Paragon to score a deep wound without using their elite slot up is Command, which automatically gives you two dependable options ("Find Their Weakness!" and "Go For The Eyes!" + Vicious Attack). It has knockdown prevention ("Brace Yourself!"), party-wide speed boosts (Godspeed, "Fallback!", "Incoming!") and some cheap, reliable, and powerful heals ("Never Surrender!", "Fallback!", "Incoming!"). It also has a bit of energy management ("Never Give Up!"), Weakness (Anthem of Weariness), Cripple (Crippling Anthem), and an incredibly useful niche skill ("Can't Touch This!") on the side, just for good measure.
Motivation just can't compete. Granted, Motivation has some very powerful condition removal, but they are all elites, and healing is otherwise subpar and less reliable than what Command has to offer - especially in PvP (there "Never Surrender!" heals about 4x as much as Ballad of Restoration in the same time frame, for half the energy cost). The route of the subpar healing in Motivation does tend to lie in the ridiculous recharge times of the skills though, once again, especially in PvP (20 seconds for what should be a bread and butter healing skill is ridiculous), where speccing in Motivation can make it difficult to maintain your Aggressive Refrain or power your Soldier's Fury without seriously hurting your potential (the -20AL and lack of a dependable Deep Wound should be more than enough to balance it, the recharge time on the skills in Motivation just adds insult to injury). As far as PvP was concerned, the only thing really left that made it worthwhile to spec into was Mending Refrain (which combined with a "Never Surrender!" could make for some nice anti-pressure healing on a team), so they nerfed that to make it useless too (can only cast on self...).
I realise Motivation was overpowered in Paraway teams, but they've made the line unusuable in anything but now. There had to have been a better way to balance it than just making every skill have a 30 second recharge or only apply to self. They were pretty lazy with this. 82.11.226.30 00:57, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
