Skills confirmed with SoC. (January 2007) --Kalomeli User Kalomeli sig.png (talk) 22:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I had him spawn with Master of whispers in my party as a minion master from leaving from basalt...Can any1else confirm? 72.15.84.217 19:46, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
I am looking at him and Master of Whispers right now. Maybe its just for that quest. Nivawk 22:08, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Just had him spawn while I was running discord (so I had MoW in-party). Finished NF quests ages ago, don't know if that affects it. Batmanhatguy
He did not spawn for me just now while I had MoW in my team, but when I swapped him out for Talkora, I capped the skill. I have done the quest chain up to Reclaiming the Temple (got that quest in my log). I also noticed that the coffer of whispers spawns only with Jurah in my group. 79.67.46.223 16:47, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Same here he spawned 3 times during vanq with MoW in my party
Nehpek spawned for me while I had MoW. I had both Data Mining and the Reclaiming the Temple quest line completed prior to capping Pain of Disenchantment. 204.191.189.240 05:24, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Disputed[edit]

There is something odd going on with this boss, it seems that some are able to spawn him with MoW in party (myself included), and other are not. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 16:02, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Something odd, indeed. I have no Nightfall quests active and went to cap his elite. MoW was in my party and no enemies spawned. I rezoned without him and then enemies were there, including Nehpek. Xiaquin Crystal Snowflake.png 00:47, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

I only tried once, but I had MoW in my party as a soul-reaping monk and the boss was there.--Ph03n1x 03:07, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
I would assume that the people he's missing for haven't completed the quests preceding Coffer of Joko. A quest that can be acquired in the current instance is no different from an active quest, in regards to removed spawns. 24.197.253.243 04:15, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

I have not completed any of the quests regarding Coffer of Joko, and I took Masters of Whispers and he didn't spawn any of the 3 times I took him out, however I dropped Masters and took livia and he along with several other groups have spawned. 69.193.34.39 18:30, 21 July 2010 (UTC)69.193.34.39 18:12, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
My experience was the same as the person above. I had Master of Whispers in my party as I got the outpost and the entire area was empty, I hadn't done any of the quests either. Maybe if you complete the quests you can spawn him with the Master? 114.78.24.17 23:55, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
He will not spawn if Data Mining is available, because that leads to directly to Coffer of Joko without any need to rezone. 24.197.253.243 07:50, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
She spawns when you have the quest available and when MoW is in your party, got a screenie as proof if you guys want it. Damysticreaper 13:47, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Same as user "69.193.34.39". This was my first time in Vehjin Mines, as I had never entered the zone from Jennur's Horde and I had only just obtained Basalt Grotto coming from Bone Palace. There were no foes at all in the coffer area by the Basalt Grotto entrance with MoW in my party. I switched MoW for Razah, and that area became full of foes, including Nehpek. Morgaine 16:54, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Oh dear, so much for that theory. I'm ZV'ing the zone right now with the same character that couldn't get this boss to spawn before with Master of Whispers in the party, and yet this time the boss did spawn with MoW present. I have "To the Rescue (Completed)" in my quest log because I killed the Kournan and Margonite troops during this ZV just a few minutes before coming across Nehpek, which also destroys the theory advanced by others that if you have any of this chain of quests active or available to you then the boss won't spawn. It's back to square 1 on the theory side. Maybe it's just random! ;-) Morgaine 01:41, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

I don't have the Joko quest, never completed it, and this boss spawned for me. I was able to capture the elite and move on. Jenstone Feb 26, 2011

I dont have MoW in my party and I have completed the Coffer Quest - but the boss will not spawn.Tong2 18:20, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I don't have that specific quest in my log right now, but I do have MoW in my party but mobs did NOT spawned. Sec.. going to run in without him.. I ran from Jennur's Horde btw. I also did not have the Basalt Grotto mapped...... Yes, I just dropped MoW off at the grotto and ran back out, everything spawned CORRECTLY. I'm remapping to the Grotto and putting him back in then see if they spawn.... Ok, I have MoW again and NOTHING seems to have spawned. Spark2510 18:28, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

{reset indent} Nothing spawned with MoW - Everything spawned without MoW - I don't have the specific quest, but have some joko quests still active. User Kyle van der Meer Sig Pic.pngKyle van der Meer 21:03, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

(Just adding to the data) No active quests active (probably completed), entered from Basalt, HM w/MoW, there was no attendant at the res shrine, no spawns of any harpies or anything until i got past the village area. So I swapped out and res shrine attendant, mobs and lion/lioness spawns appear, zoned back to MoW and again nothing spawned. .--76.121.64.205 14:23, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

In my opinion, the "Disputed" remark can be removed. This is obviously a bug, isn't it? It does not happen to everyone, it only happens when MoW is in the party for no obvious reasons(has anyone heard stories of MoW being that scary?), and really NOTHING spawns around Basalt Grotto, not even a res shrine attendant. I don't know about you guys, but to me, this stinks of bugs :) And to provide some extra data: I read something about having Joko quests active, but that's certainly not the problem. I didn't even meet Joko yet on the char with which I first experienced this problem. Also not a HM problem, did it in NM, nothing either. And stating the obvious: it only happened to me when MoW was with me :) --Spirit of the Bear 21:21, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

There is no bug unless you've completed Belgun the Quarry Master's quests and the boss is still missing. 24.197.253.243 21:58, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
That's not my point. My point is that it IS actually a bug and not some weird game mechanic. It would be okay if nothing spawned when the quest chain was available, because there's absolutely no rezoning involved and everything(including res shrine attendant) would be driven away by the Margonites and Kournans. But some people actually completed the quest chain which caused everything to disappear, and still got no boss, or even nothing at all. And to the Morgaine comment from April 26th: The last quest of the chain was COMPLETED, so everything should return to normal, as it did. Well, it's not actually the last of the chain, but it IS the last one that takes place within Vehjin Mines. --Spirit of the Bear 13:19, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm going to go with "bug". While the boss spawning could be considered a side-effect of the quest, there are two issues which demand "bug" status:
First, the effect is not consistent. Some see it, some do not. It could be MoW or it could be non-NF character or it could be the phase of the moon. But, inconsistency means bug for any computer program unless randomness is the desired result.
Second, and far more importantly, the rez shrine attendant doesn't spawn (I just tried four times, once from Jennur's and three from Basalt Grotto, and neither the boss nor the attendant nor any other foes were present in the vicinity). Daddicus 18:25, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Note to Bug[edit]

I'm going to recommend changing the note to a bug (feel free for anyone to correct the edit), because it's VERY misleading...I just vanquished Vehjin Mines (needing to capture PoD elite also) and assumed I would not be able to spawn the boss and lo and behold he spawned just fine without completing any quests and I had MoW in my party. I feel like this "note" is nothing but a hindrance to like-minded people who are seeking wiki for information. While the information I needed was available on the discussion page, I don't generally look on the discussion page just to clarify what should be clarified on the main page - so I'm changing the tag so any future visitors know that it's a possible bug and not set in stone absolutism.

P.S. I had no idea how to make an internal link so I just made it an external link to this Talk Page. Feel free to clean it up. :) 68.102.196.125 12:31, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Done. Thank you for bringing this up! Jeree95 (talk) 23:28, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
