Date issue

The main page displays correctly (my Jan 15 edit on research page corrected this) however this page is still showing as unknown. The date displayed is "the week beginning January 15" and this should be showing Jan 14. I cannot find this date error in the code, but I believe that this is causing the failure to display the correct data. When I first changed the research page (January 14) it showed correctly on both the main page and here. I'm not good at messing with code and debugging, so someone else whant to take a crack at it please? Gwynna Vive 14:45, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

See the discussion at HELP:WIKI#Nicholas the Traveler and Main Page/activities. Also, your edit to Nicholas the Traveler/Research didn't correct the issue on Main Page/activities (which is transcluded onto Main Page), because the Nicholas the Traveler information was manually edited in (and it's still currently not being automatically generated). --Silver Edge 21:33, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
This should be fixed now, if we run into another bug we'll poke Poke first :D --Chieftain Alex 15:40, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Possible bug

Today, when I tried to trade the 10 humps for 5 gifts I ran into the following: when the trophies were in two packs (8+2) with many empty inventory slots availlable, Nick said that my inventory was full. After I merged the stacks, he gave me the gifts. (Proof, if you need: [1]) I didn't find any note about such a bug neither at Nick's nor the Inventory article. Is it really a bug, or am I missing something? --Kremes 22:32, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Main Page Issue

Still not showing the updated info here, or on the main page. I edited in the current location, and it will need to be reverted at such a point as the issue gets resolved. In the meantime, an admin may need to care for the main page manually? Gwynna Vive 16:14, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

It won't work until we figure out whats gone wrong, but temporarily the "fix" is to copy the line you insert at /Research onto the top of both Main Page/activities and Nicholas the Traveler (change the template name you're using to {{Nicholas the Traveler research.mainpage}} and {{Nicholas the Traveler research.page}} respectively. I'm still confused as to why it doesn't work >_> Chieftain Alex 16:27, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
I have had a lot of problems getting up-to-date information for a long time. I have to purge the main page daily and the Nick page each week (by adding "?action=purge" to the URL since I'm too lazy to login just to press the purge button). The Wintersday page was a nightmare, the times were always off during the finale (until purged). I'm convinced the caching system currently in use is the culprit. Caching is great for static pages, but doesn't always work right for dynamic ones. 76.164.65.219 00:16, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
The DPL solutions are currently broken, the main page is temporarily fixed until a proper fix is in place. The article will need manual adjustments until this is resolved. Note that this is not related to caching.
Regarding the Wintersday page; I don't know what was used then, but my original countdown included something that disabled the caching, so maybe something else was changed. Also note, that you can simply click the UTC clock at the top to get to the purge-page of the current article. poke | talk 21:29, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
How was it being done previously? I'd like to help if I can. -Shifuimam 14:33, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Previously it was done by defining variables (using Extension:Variables as the output of the dpl on Template:Nicholas the Traveler.page) - but some bug introduced by some backend server update by Anet resulted in no variables being defined anymore (this is really why anet doesn't update their mediawiki version very often, the chance of a bug somewhere is skyhigh :P ). My solution was to use the variables that were build-in to the dpl (i.e. #dplvar) - which is basically a straight swap from what we had before. --Chieftain Alex 15:39, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Auto dialogue

I've had a go at automating the dialogues. A slightly reformatted version of the Nicholas the Traveler/Dialogue page can be found here, which is used for the dpl dialogue query. I'd like to implement this. -Chieftain Alex 14:26, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

I don't object to its implementation. When it automates the dialogue of a location that had its dialogue changed in the second cycle (i.e. Regent Valley, Dreadnought's Drift, Bukdek Byway, and Alcazia Tangle), will it display the newer dialogue? --Silver Edge 23:39, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
It should do. you have just reminded me to fix a bug I've let slip past me with the dpl though where it includes the first dialogue of a second visit along with the text directly above it.. -Chieftain Alex 23:59, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
I hadn't noticed Dreadnought's Drift + Bukdek, so your note was very useful. I've fixed the bug I thought of + provided special cases for those areas. -Chieftain Alex 00:24, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Febuary 25, 2013

Found in Raisu Palace asking for 3 soul stones. However, he is not in the same place as last time. On the map, he is just SE of the 'e' in Raisu Palace.

Confirmed with One guild. 173.25.192.118 03:37, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
