I love how every week someone has to start this thread with "lets find this stuff so i dont have to!". That being said, i was tempted to put some note in about how nick once again wants us to kill creatures just so he can be conveinced. However, i hate these bastards and hope we irradicate them all. It's a long slog, esp /w henchmen... but not impossible. And leaving from Deldrimor War Camp shortens the trek considerably. The toughest part is probably just finding the damn things b/c the vast majority of these nightmares are all Pop-up mobs. --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 20:42, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I was referring to the long slog from Deldrimor. It's not very hard it just takes forever. There is a nice mob of Nightmares in Talus Chute just outside Camp Rankor. --193.89.129.69 07:40, 8 June 2010 (UTC) - - - Always forgetting I'm not automatically logged in from this PC, my apologies --Manassas User Manassas Mannysig.png 07:42, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Farming 1 spawn then zoning back out usually result in anti-farm code kicking in really fast. --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 20:33, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
I was under the impression that repeated entries no longer penalized loot? (According to the Anti Farm Code page.) 68.118.250.100 01:28, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
There is an anti-farm code in place, but it's not based on repeatedly farming one mob. You need to wait about a minute after entering a zone for drops to start regularly, is my understanding. It seemed to affect the farm on Ruby Djinn Essence week significantly -- we killed Djinns for hours with little result. Then I learned to wait a bit, and the drops became regular. Kyubiko 04:53, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

It should be noted that runners from beacon perch leave an poor prepared team between 2 big mobs and almost impossible to reach Nicholas. People looking for a run be warned!! Guardian of Wolves 21:19, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

My experience was that if the runner zones into Snake Dance and back into Dreadnought's, you can wiggle your way through most of the mobs from the lower part of the map, but the giants close to Nick may not be possible to bypass. Bring anti-KD and run skills. 85.19.140.9 23:21, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
I ran to Nick from Beacon's... 15 mins to get to him (Died b/c of rubberband lagg and had to start at the start again). SF, Running stances(Candies), some luck, and Anti KD's do the trick ;D when u head up to nick hugg the clift wall... 174.99.101.134 02:09, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

LOLOLOLOL, sins popping cons. ...pros can still run wars. --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 10:15, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Actually, it was entirely possible to get a run all the way to Nick himself. As long as you were able to kill the first two groups of tundra giants on the right (even a spirit spammer can singlehandedly kill them all), you can Recall hop your entire party to Nick by having all party members maintaining Recall on the runner as he runs past the mobs, then dropping it once he loses aggro in a safe spot. It takes about three hops to reach Nick. I thought of this idea the day after Nick showed up in this spot, and even gave a few courtesy runs out of War Camp, but frankly no one seemed to show any interest. Ah well.--Pretensile 15:48, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) If E-leather follows the trend of previous rare mat collections by Nick,

  • Although rare mat traders will say they're out of stock, with patience you can still buy (maybe 1 try of 10);
  • Players will sell stacks for less than they could get at the traders (I suppose for the convenience of not having to request a gazillion quotes to sell a stack).

And this week, it's cheap to make your own: if you have the rare mats, it's only 50Gold to make each square.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:34, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

My account is limited to 5 presents a week but as I was reading it again I noticed that it also states that it is limited once per location. Does this mean in 2.6 years since my account has already gotten gifts at that location, if he repeats, that I wont be allowed to get them ever again?Cinnamongod 15:04, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

There is no evidence one way or the other, since he has yet to repeat a location. However, based on past experience, "once per location" or "5 gifts per location" give the wrong impression. It's once a week.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:10, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
I doubt they'll permanently save how many gifts were exchanged based on the location. It's most likely a counter for each account that's reset each week. That's easier to code, easier on your database etc. Also, there's no evidence that his locations are going to repeat - they weren't meant to repeat, so I doubt they will (unless you interpret "location" as "explorable area"). Not a fun farm? Why wouldn't it be? Just go to Boreas Seabed, enough oni pop-ups there, there's always a spawn of 3 oni south and north (and west also apperantly) of the naga warrior boss. It'll be a lot eaier than getting moon shells.--84.192.7.219 16:15, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, while I haven't tried soloing them, I think the drop rate may be worse than for moon shells. Moon shells were actually trivial to get because vanquishing Gyala takes about 30-45 minutes with H&H (I've done it in 20 with an all human team, but MQSC is faster and preferred if you have all humans) and you nearly always get 2-5 shells per vanquish, so I had about a hundred on hand. Even intentionally popping the Oni spawns on that route I have only gathered three talons. --Falseprophet 17:00, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Eredon Terrace is a good place to start from, I remember years ago folk would farm oni with VwK for the gold oni drops... so I went back there with a VwK Rt/Me, still works a charm, and although I couldn't remember the full route of 6 or 7 oni spawns it didn't take long to get 5 talons farming the first 2-3 spawns. While doing MTSC you can get some od them. There are always groups of them around Island Guardian both Lux and Kurz territory. I think it will be best to just farm one or two areas. I think that 1/gift is too easy as their drop rate is not high but it's not so rare item. Matiasko Tebe 7:57, 17 August 210 (UTC)

If you don't mind your character dying, a very quick way to get to Nick this week is to leave Vasburg Armory, get yourself killed by the first set of foes and you will be resurrected at the Rez Shrine right beside which Nick is loitering and being too lazy to go get his own Truffles. Bearz User Bearz pawprint.png 14:04, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

That is if you have more factions of the opposite faction than the shrine. Example: Vasburg is capped by luxons (most likely...) then the shrine outside is luxon so then you need more kurz factions than luxon for this to work.--84.192.7.219 20:42, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

"I don't believe in coincidences"

So with Halloween 2010 and Winterday 2010, and I know some people have been stockpiling/farming collector items for those Events already, is it just coincidence that last week was Glowing Hearts and this week is Hardened Humps? I think not. I think Anet is trying to suck some of these items out of inventories to control the market in the upcoming events. (Usaf1a8xx 18:41, 30 August 2010 (UTC))

Why would they care if people were cornering the market in GHearts or HHumps for H'ween vs for Nick? In both cases, a fraction of community (with time > $) is farming for another fraction (with $ > time).  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:25, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Nick's items are worth more on average, if they wanted people to have less valuable things, it would be the other way around. Not to mention he collected decayed orr emblems a long time ago, and those are what people actually farm for. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 22:59, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Spirits are like the only viable for these since all skills are like hexes (well almost). Yes yes yes, SF, Obby, VoS, SB, blah blah blah. They are fragile though so /rt should work very simple infact I think SoS + Blood Song + Vamperism alone would have zero probs killing them if the rest of the bar was empty. Yeah, Lyra, ny secondary /Rt will work fine. I went SoS on my Derv, and while the Storm Kin hit you with health degen, it's not strong enough to take you out. I bring Ebon Sin Support to keep them busy for a bit while the spirits do their thing. 193.215.199.34 10:10, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
I used a MeW signet mesmer. Item Quantities

You know, one thing that's always bugged me about Nick's dialogues is that whenever he asks for 2 of something, he really wants ten of them. This week, it's "Oh, I boasted to Durmand that I could get 2 of these. Do you have two?" And I say, "Here, take ten!" So he replies, "Oh, thank you! Now I can impress him five times!" If I only had two when I talked to him, I'd think I had done everything he needed, and if I didn't know better, I'd stop after one gift.

It seems much more reasonable to me for him to say, "I told Durmand I could bring back 10 of these. Do you have any?" And I'd be like, "Um... here are two of them!" Nick would reply, "Oh, that gets me partway there. Here, take this gift, and if you find any more of those, I'll give you more gifts!"

That's how it seems to me, anyway. Anyone else have thoughts on the matter? --RoyHarmon 00:50, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, the first time the Traveler appeared in April last year, I thought he only wanted 3 Iris Flowers for whatever it was he was going to give me. So, I ended up with one gift. Then I found out you could actually give him the 3 flowers four more times. Most people today know this, but I do agree that he could actually hint that you can give him more than he actually asks for. 193.215.199.34 11:27, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Dialogue: "I may not look like it, but I do fancy myself somewhat of a storyteller. I don't tell the most remarkable tales, by any stretch of the imagination, but I do report to Durmand on the different people I see on my travels and the trials they go through. That is not quite the reason I am here, though. Today, I find myself in search of feathers from Skree Wings to make more writing implements for both myself and for Durmand's scribes. As you can imagine, he has them going through their own supplies rather quickly. He is quite the taskmaster, after all! 3 Skree Wings worth of feathers should make enough quills to keep them writing for some time." Kyubiko 15:54, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Yeah and someone needs to update the map if they can cause its still last weeks map showing his location. lol

3 per gift?? ... this is First Class Bullshit. ...who came up with that number? These peckernuts aren't easy to solo farm with conventional builds... infact no Para-Ranger team is. Even Ether Claws are easier to get and IIRC, we only needed 2 of those. I've tried farming them in the past... the drop rate sucks and they ripped right through every bonded build I tried. (And no, I'm not going to lower my self to 55'ing it) FUCK D-SHOT BOTS hitting through 75% blocking! ...And their little Healers too! . (disclaimer: Requires a Bonder, Derp!). PS: I'm clearing the entire Vabbi Forum every 20 mins and only getting 5 wings per run but over 30 vambraces & crap... anet-FAIL, GG . --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 17:34, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

It is interesting to me that nicks needs usually coincide with events or current releases from anet to the game. how odd? A lot of people recently began making mini moas for their halls where are all the wings? Durh. Silly nick this item IS SUPER RARE and should only require 1 per gift. Yet this is one more week where I refuse to farm for nick because its not worth the effort for 5 summon stones, 5 honeycombs, 5 myst tonics, another 5 myst tonics, and another 5 crappy myst tonics. nty. Doing the Tihark Orchard mission can net you a skree wing every 10 minutes. I'm doing the mission in 5 minutes, and the drop rate seems to average to 1 every 2 runs. Katorone 20:52, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
Lets all do Tihark orchard 30+ times to get 15 wings together WOOO um. fuck that. Rogueonion 21:35, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
The run in Forum Highlands netted 1 wing every two runs. Even if you could get 1 wing every run, the Tihark Orchard mission (though repetitive) is a more productive choice. If you have a more productive way of farming skree wings, please, do share. Katorone 21:54, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Well he's got a point there: those stupid Tonics need to just be removed from the upper 15%'ers drop teir or whatever usually comes out of each gift. But restarting Tihark is incredibly inefficient for this. Anyone who's worth a damn should be able to 2-man the Explorables, or atleast SoS like your standard Faceroller. 1k per wing is just retarded but that's what I saw in Tihark: a dozen buyers and no sellers... pathetic. Beginning to wonder if ppl are only doing this for the gambling twinge it gives them... --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 04:16, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Great for you i just did tihark orchard like 50 times for one fucking wing. fucking nick and his retarded want for too many of the rarest stackable in game. Rogueonion 16:53, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Honestly, I got enough wings for myself, and a couple extra for a guildie in just 5 runs with a full h/h team. I did it this way because I was watching hockey and wasn't actually playing, and because I knew that the Anti-farm code would hurt the worst in the Forum Highlands. Kill slowly, and drops will happen, as that page suggests. G R E E N E R 18:36, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Ironically, I had enough wings saved in storage (had planned to sell them to moa-seekers at some point) to fill Nick's quota. But even if I didn't, it'd just give me an excuse to finish that quest line in Bahdza that's pretty much solely about killing harpies on some alts. 97.80.119.149 02:35, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
ILR I am not so bad off as you think. I gave all my saved up wings to allies for moas=D hence why I am not wanting to farm this crap. Rogueonion 16:18, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
I think the Pillaged Goods was, by far, the rarest stackable trophy item. I both soloed and joined a pug of 8 to farm Skree Wings, both ways were productive. In Forum I would estimate I got 4 wings / run with 8 players, and 3 / run solo. Pillaged Goods was on the order of 1 per 3 or 4 runs solo or pugging it. Mar Talk Master 17:09, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
Because I had already met my Nick quota, I gave my wing drops to others in the group, partially to reward players who worked pretty well to meet Nick's needs without resorting to h/h or soloing. I think I'll start to do that more, there are a lot of good players still in the game :) Mar Talk Master 17:12, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
@Greener: The page you are referring to doesn't support your theory that "anti farm code" should affect drops in Forum Highlands differently from any other place in the game. Or that it should make drops behave differently based on the number of people farming at the same place at once --Manassas User Manassas Mannysig.png 09:58, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
Regarding that suppose'ed code... I got more wings later in less time when I retraced 1 single canyon route several times (figured I'd try for another Sadis Benediction while I was out there) ...and avoided the rest of the skree to the periphery. Meaning about 5 groups over and over instead of every group in the exporable. Conclusion: no antifarm code issues. --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 02:53, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

But they hang from their necks < < Anyway, he's where Jerone said: just slightly south of the eastern shrine. - MEI FEN /talk 15:57, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes, confirmed. ~ Dragon User talk:Zaishen Dragon 16:08, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Dialogue: "Ahai there, friend! I've been seeking safe passage through this area for some time, but as an outsider I can have trouble convincing the locals of my good intentions, especially with all the mistrust between the common folk and the military. I am willing to bet that if I give one of the local chieftains 3 Kournan Pendants, they would be more inclined to guide me through the region. What do you say, friend? Will you help me?

Yay! an easy one to make up for last week's suckfest. ...not to harp(y) on the subject too much, mind you... --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 18:30, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
So, in a step up from slaughtering beasts for their body parts, Nick wants us to murder humans solely for the shiny-pretties they wear. :P Arshay Duskbrow 20:02, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Sooo... to convince the locals that he is not dangerous, he will give them 3 (15 in total) kournan pendants(dog tags) acquired by killing persons... makes sense--Batousai 21:01, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Well, he doesn't say it's to convince them he's not dangerous. He says he bets they would be "more inclined to guide [him] through the region". In other words, they'd better guide him, if they don't want the same thing to happen to them. -- bcstingg (talkcontribs) 19:25, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
"especially with all the mistrust between the common folk and the military" No hte chieftains will help him because the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Rhonin Soren 19:38, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
That was meant to be humorous, but I see that failed. Still, I think it's a pretty big jump from "the locals mistrust the military" to "killing members of the military will convince them I'm their friend". If the worst feeling I had against a group was mistrust, then I don't think I'd befriend a guy who said "Look, I just killed 15 of them!" I'd think he was a psycho. -- bcstingg (talkcontribs) 20:52, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Had the quest No Me, No Kormir active (spawn altering) and he was available. Not that anyone really cares since the quest takes like 5min to do but was bored so I figured I would mention it here. Justice 03:01, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

October 25

Seems to be in the middle of The Black Curtain south of Temple of Ages, but his text is broken ("Trophy greet text here") --Akhrin 15:54, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes, he's there. Hope they fix his text, lol. 85.19.140.9 16:02, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
I confirm too he is exactly south of ToA, but you have to go around the curve. He is looking for Absolutely Nothings in exchange for gifts, and says "Trophy greet text here"
Yes, he's there. Apparently there's a post on guru that he's collecting Shadowy Remnants, I am yet to check it out though.- TheRave talk (talk) 16:23, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Collecting 2 Shadowy Remnants per gift. I went to him with my stock to see what would happen. User: Kyubiko 99.246.26.128 16:43, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Saw the pic - it won't necessarily stay that way, though. Last time the greet text was borked they moved him and changed the required trophy, even though people had worked out what he wanted the same way you did :( --snogratUser Snograt signature.png 16:49, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Ya Beat me to the post! Tucksterz 16:50, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Seems like an easy enough farm, the Fog Nightmares are dropping them a lot for me. 85.19.140.9 16:52, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah this is like the same thing that happened with the krait skin bounty. --Lania User Lania Elderfire pinkribbon.jpg17:03, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
I thought that was because "Nicholas the Traveller is looking for four skins." :D--snogratUser Snograt signature.png 17:09, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

What a royal pain in the ass.. have to haul full H/H team over there cos of the friggin White Mantle crap.. never gonna get these drop.

I farmed mine in Talmark, there are no Mantle there. There are Nightmares spread out among the Oakhearts. Got 10 in about 20 minutes. 85.19.140.9 18:25, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
NOOOoooooooooo, not my Dust farm! ...Once ppl see how big the piles are these things drop... the price of everything that contains dust is gonna plummit. They might even stop doing FOW runs. ...Well, except for these guys here who's characters beat Prophs or EotN and have WIK mobs in the way... yeah they're never gonna figure it out. But the ppl farmin it on less-travelled alts certainly will. *dread and worry* --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 18:41, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
I think you're overestimating the intelligence of the general community. One week isn't going to be enough to significantly damage the trader price. 97.80.119.149 18:56, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

The text is alright now, but i don't really know how to edit it... "Careful, friend. The very shadows themselves are known to spring to life and attack helpless travelers in these parts. That's actually what brought me and that cowering lump of dolyak to these parts. Rumor has it Shadowy Remnants can be refined and used to grant temporary invisibility to anything you rub it on. Of course, I know that's a load of dolyak dung, but the Professor over there doesn't! If he thinks he's invisible, that may give him just enough courage to follow me to some of the more dangerous locations around the world with a bit less of a fuss. 2 should be enough to cover him completely. I would be happy to trade for any you find!" Rumpo Rampaal 10:48, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
