Talk:Rend Enchantments

It says that you take damage, not that you lose life. Does this mean effects which trigger upon taking damage will fire? If so, being able to self-trigger damage might be incredibly beneficial if used correctly (no other skill that I know of self-inflicts damage as opposed to loss of life or sacrifice). --Eyekwah 13:52, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

It's actually health loss, not damage. Chriskang 14:00, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Have you tested this or are you just saying? It says damage in even the concise description. --Eyekwah 09:31, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
The damage is in such small packets that it wont activate spirit bond or prot spirit anyway, shielding hands I guess, not really worth it. Justing6 14:17, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Tested this in Isle of the Nameless against the Master of Enchantment. Rather than damage, this causes health loss that is not reduced by protection skills and does not trigger the energy gain from Balthazar's Spirit Balthazar's Spirit. Despite the description, this is not damage but just health loss[edit]

Well thank goodness for that! It's not like health loss is that bad, damage is much worse in-game! b.r // talk 13:55, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

If it were damage it could be reduced if you were going to receive a spike...or were you just been sarcastic?--ShadowFog 15:30, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Sarcastic? What on earth would make you think I would stoop to such a base behaviour!? I'd like to think, as human beings, that we are past such mindless actions b.r // talk 01:22, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Concise Description[edit]

5 Energy1 Activation time20 Recharge time "Target foe loses all enchantments."

"Kill target 55 monk and yourself" would be more appropriate for the PvE version. Paddymew 11:48, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Except then you would be PvP then, unless Anet made a 55 monk foe that I don't know about... 68.59.126.206 20:03, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Related Skills[edit]

I'm reconsidering my edit of adding Gaze of Contempt as a related skill. Sure, they're both necro enchants that essentially remove all enchantments, but that's about it. Whereas something like Pain of Disenchantment removes a scaled number of enchants. Thoughts? --8765 08:08, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Gaze has been used in a similar manner in the past, the scalable nature of Rend is largely irrelevant in most cases. They are related imo. Misery 08:11, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Although I've always considered PoD more of an elite Shatter Enchantment than an elite Rend. They are used slightly differently. Misery 09:42, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

gg[edit]

One of the most broken skills got nerfed. SniperFoxUser SniperFox IconSmall.gif 12:06, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

This needed a different nerf. It's still going to be used with fast casting. IMO, scale the enchantments lost to 0...6...7 so that it actually requires attribute investment.
Exactly! Still, 7 enchantment with one skill is to much I think. It will kill tanks and it will kill bonded guys (and the caster in that case). 5 would be max with one skill, if you ask me. F.c.Sauer

55/SS[edit]

This is one of the greatest nerfs ever!!! This highly increases successful run chances for any UW farming build, cas now the interrupt is easier, and more time to react. Thank you A-Net!!! THis is a buff for farmers, JQ brainless bombers, and a nerf for pvp... I'll never understand Anet... Really77.203.116.248 16:47, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Notes[edit]

"It is actually more beneficial to the player if you only spec 1 into curses if using as a single curse skill, as you need to spec 8 to make the damage less than if it was at 1."

Eh? Health loss at 1 curses is 53, health loss at 2 curses is 51 ... so I don't understand the note at all. --Combatter 01:38, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

They're referring to total health loss if every possible enchantment were removed. Rend Enchantments rarely pulls of more than a couple enchantments, so the note is usually misleading at best. MA Anathe 19:20, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
That note is really stupid. If your pulling more then 5 enchantments off anyhow... Justice 06:14, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
