Armor[edit]

Her new armor is pretty awesome... I want it o_O Haruno MidoriUser HarunoMidori signature img.png 11:36, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Too hot. Ok there is no such thing ;-) Justice 17:58, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Looks like a Ranger to me, wtb armor. InfestedHydralisk 20:35, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Way too cool to be a monk. Looks like a mixture of Ranger and Paragon. She should've been our third paragon hero. :\ 173.18.139.165 04:54, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Either a new gold sink or something from the Anet store: NPC armor. Her armor would look better than the dwayna get up. --Ravencroft0 09:59, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Called it. sort of. --Ravencroft0 09:53, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Called what? --Curse YouCurse You(talk|contribs) 22:20, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

It looks more detailed like the armour in GW2. --smøni 22:25, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

@Curse You. I was referring to the mass rumor of new shining blade/White mantle armor. I had posted that comment before the fuzzy image was completely revealed. I'm going to stop commenting on the whole armor thing. As great an idea as it is, even though we may have to pay real world money to have it, I'm just contributing to everyone getting their hopes up when it may never happen. --Ravencroft0 08:06, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
Someone want to note that her armor is the shining blade costume armor for her page? dye colors etc...76.181.167.16 08:56, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Model[edit]

Just did Deactivating R.O.X. with her and it seems she has her own animations as well. I couldn't pin them on any profession model, so I think she has her own unique model and animations as well as unique model. --Santax (talk · contribs) 18:22, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Are you sure it wasn't just female Elementalist, Warrior or Ranger? The "profession" of an NPC rarely actually reflects the animation set they use. --Curse YouCurse You(talk|contribs) 02:20, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain. It sort of looked like Mesmer, but it's not that. It's possible it was Warrior or Ranger, but it's definitely not Elementalist. --Santax (talk · contribs) 09:02, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Simply judging from her stance, she most likely uses female Warrior or Ranger animations, as her stance matches those two professions. --Curse YouCurse You(talk|contribs) 12:04, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Looks like the female ranger spell animation to me. Which I think is similar to the warrior animation, so yeah. -- pling User Pling sig.png 16:00, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
/sigh Was wishing they would've kept her face, arm, and chest tattoos from her old model. Granted, monks can remove their tats at will (and she IS a monk), but still it would've been cool to see her keep something from her lowly peasant roots.
PURGE TATTOO: Spell. Removes 1...3...7 tattoo(s) from self. Removal effect: Heals for 20 for each tattoo removed.
SMITE TATTOO: Spell. Removes a tattoo from self. Removal effect: deals 10...70...85 holy damage to foes in the area of character. 218.40.186.9 04:20, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Ryoko
If not her tattoos (not missing those as much), they should have kept her dark-colored hair. It looks like they tried to keep her brownish skintone though, but not too hard. -- 141.225.227.226 08:02, 23 May 2010 (UTC).

Saidra's Sister[edit]

She's definately Saidra's twin, or daughter, or cousin. Look at them side by side. Like Saidra with a tan and different hairstyle. 99.189.121.185 23:10, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Similar models do not family members make. Saidra was Evennia's sister, not Salma's. EDIT: Or so I thought, but now that I look, I can't find anywhere that was actually stated either. Arshay Duskbrow 23:51, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Puppet Government[edit]

She is just being manipulated by Watchman Arad, and many others scheming for power. The real authority lies in her vizier, she is just being toyed like a naive little kid. Just an ornament, and when she is finally cornered, her vizier will force her to marry him, and whoever marries her becomes the legitimate king. And after becoming king, she dies. Fuck Salma. Fuck the Shining or rather Rusty Blade. They are just a bunch of cannibalistic power-hungry vultures. Open your eyes everyone. See the truth. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:121.54.92.58 (talk).

Clearly the White Mantle Inquisitors have done their work well on you. Praise the Unseen, huh? Do me a favor, hold still a second... <nocks arrow> Arshay Duskbrow 07:17, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
The Unseen are the stewards of Tyria, can't you see? The Shining Blade were all just unwilling puppets of the Lich Lord and the Seers to an elaborate plan to unleash Abaddon. Would you trust your government to the hands of selfish braggarts who would ally with anyone just to grab power? It is time for a revolution! No more royalty! No more puppet governments. We must unite as one for all of Tyria. Do not be fooled by the words of these royalists, words such as freedom and justice. Freedom and justice from a royalist? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Shadow Knight (talk).
The so called Unseen are the destroyers of Tyria. They murdered many innocents. I personally dealt with that Lich Lord. Ramei Arashi 15:26, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes there were "sacrifices", and that was for the greater good of all Tyria. Oblation for Tyria! My life for Tyria! Remember, remember, it was the Shining Blade's greed and arrogance that almost destroyed all of Tyria, because they were easily blinded by the promise of quick rise to power by the Lich Lord.
you DO realise that the mursaat are just mortal? the 6 gods on the other hand are proper gods - even abaddon who isnt gone - just broken and if you white mantle take away your "peace" keepers im sure the ppl of kryta will actually be willing to talk to you
oh and any necromancer/historian will know what saul the "saviour" thought as he was kidnapped by the mursaat who he trusted and put his faith in - chapter 6 in Saul's Story

The Unseen Ones had made a promise, and they demanded their due. Kryta was safe, and Saul's most devoted servants could continue to worship and serve their new gods. The rest of the witnesses would have to die, however, for they had seen the true power and glory of the Unseen Ones. As Saul watched his followers struck down, he realized his gods were neither good nor wise.

The Unseen Ones had promised to protect him, but not in the way he had hoped. To keep him from telling others what he had seen, the Unseen Ones took Saul with them. As he faded from mortal view, Saul realized he had not saved his people. He had betrayed them to new, harsher masters.

And he wept, knowing he, a traitor who had unwittingly deceived his own people, would forever be considered a hero of Kryta.

Spoiler[edit]

With Salma redirecting here, the first paragraph is almost pure spoilers for anyone who wandered into ToA, or took up the quest from Fishermen's Haven. Can't we treat Salma and Princess Salma as two different pages? G R E E N E R 04:31, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Salma is a puppet of Watchman Arad. Mark my words he will dispose of Salma one day and grab power for himself. Let the true queen reign, a queen enthroned not by empty decrees, a queen that's not just for decoration. Let the true queen reign, Queen Livia.

The Battle for Lion's Arch[edit]

Does she really have no special skills? The Live Team didn't give her some kind of kick ass signature move or anything? 114.78.8.119 03:04, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Don't think so. They just made her level 20 to keep her from dying so easily, since she was level 10 before they did that. -- Konig/talk 03:45, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
It's so sad they took away her only good skill (WoH) for BLA. --Life Infusion «T» 01:21, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Princess/Queen Salma and her Affiliation?[edit]

The first point I want to make is that I think that at least some people seem to be under a false impression that after The Battle for Lion's Arch, going to the Keep, leaving and returning, that is the end of the War in Kryta content. This seems unlikely to be true. In addition to the continuation of daily Wanted by the Shining Blade quests, there are still a lot of loose ends which I am sure that anet intend to address before GW2 with additional content (the currently missing Lieutenant Thackeray hooking up with Gwen for example - a wedding?, and possibly a coronation ceremony for Salma). Although it took anet quite a while to correct their obvious mistake on the naming of the Lion's Arch Keep area, it seems to me that Salma continuing to be titled Princess is likely to be quite deliberate (prior to some future content when she becomes Queen).

Having got that out the way, what should her Affiliation be shown as on various pages right now? At the moment, we are inconistent: the Lion's Arch Keep page currently lists her under Lionguard, this page lists her as Shining Blade and to top it all, the Princess announced the Seraph, with Bartholos as leader (his page needs updating), during her post-battle speech:

Princess Salma: "In that spirit, we hereby announce the formation of a new army for the defense of the whole of Kryta and for all humans who call Kryta their home."
Princess Salma: "Honoring the winged goddess who protected us in our final battle against the fiends who had usurped our kingdom, this new group will be called the Seraph, and the valiant Bartholos shall be their commander."
Princess Salma: "In this new army, common citizens and former members of the White Mantle and Shining Blade will serve side-by-side. You will know the Seraph by the wings that adorn their helms and shields, and by their resolute defense of our land. They shall be the protectors of Kryta."

Should we change her Affiliation to read Monarchy and consider updating the Affiliation page to add a new column for War in Kryta, fitting in Seraph somewhere, as well as Ebon Falcons, etc?

It is even possible that anet might be in the process of inventing a new little earner with new Seraph costumes - or am I just giving them ideas? ...lol

Thoughts? User Arrowmaster Sig.pngArrowmaster - 08:23, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

This is a case where several affiliations are correct, depending on the time frame. Maybe the latest in time would be best though? Or we could change the infobox to allow several affiliations, which might come in handy for certain creature pages too? Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 15:09, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
By the way, the war is over and Kryta is in the rebuild stages: all of the Keep NPCs point to as much. And if you read the Wanteds carefully, after completing BLA they are reliving the bounty as it was in the war. As such, the War in Kryta is over, but the Ebonhawke saga is not. They did mix a bit there, but you have to remember they are separate events. --- Ness Hrin User Ness Hrin SBIcon.png | 15:29, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Seraph isn't an affiliation. The War in Kryta is over but Guild Wars Beyond - which the War in Kryta was a part of - is not. And the next arc of Beyond will be tying those loose ends. People don't mistakenly think the war is over, people mistakenly think the war is the only thing that'll be done. Also, I doubt we'll get Seraph costumes simply because all previous costumes have been done in two opposing sets (grenth vs dwayna, wm vs sb). Affiliation isn't whatever we want it to be, affiliations and creature types are set coding in the game. If I wanted the Lich Lord to be of the Orrian affiliation, that doesn't mean he is. He's part of the Undead affiliation. Also, loosen up on all those bloody links. Really, no need to link something multipel times in the same bloody sentence. -- Konig/talk 17:24, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
I sort of agree with Arrowmaster (favor the ranger, do you?) as far as affiliation. Before the War, she was never given an affiliation, when she was simply a Krytan. Was she a member of the monarchy? Yes, but firstly, she is a Krytan, and if she is to be affiliated with anything it would be as a Krytan. I don't really understand why she wasn't given that affiliation in the first place. "Hey, i'm in the middle of Kryta, I have a Krytan model, and I am the last in the line of Krytan monarchs. Hmmm..." She wasn't really a member of the Shining blade but she did side with them and they to her. She probably got shang hai-ed into leading them anyway ("Just lucky, I guess.") Honestly, the best people to ask about this is Regina, or perhaps Gaile.
I don't believe there will be a new costume either, as far as purchasing it from the guild store; it's already been stated in an interview or article (don't remember where, but it was goodly reputable) that there would be no more purchases as such for guild wars beyond. It may have said for the "War in Kryta" instead of GWB - don't remember. I don't believe they would offer a new armor set purchasable through an armor crafter either because they'd have to put more time into that instead of taking care of GW2, and do you want any further delays? But if they did go down that particular route, it could make for a new (hopefully) interesting armor set, only purchasable if you've finished the War in Kryta hoo ha ha. That's just my two pennies, though. --Ravencroft0 06:52, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks everyone for your interesting comments! I stand corrected in that I did not quite express what I meant on one point; yes, the war is over, I did realize that; what I meant, but did not say, was Guild Wars Beyond content is not over. As for Seraph armor, with 'the wings that adorn their helms and shields', it has to fit in somewhere, even if not for GW1 (armor crafted or costumed), it must be for GW2. Yes, I do like Rangers (mostly using a pet). I think I have about 7 Rangers altogether, although I have at least two L20 chars of every prof... and I lead two guilds... lol. User Arrowmaster Sig.pngArrowmaster - 07:51, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Seraph armor has been seen in various screenshots for GW2 - so yes, it does have a place. But not in GW1. There is no Seraph in mechanical meaning. Just because we don't know an affiliation doesn't mean the NPC doesn't have one. Then again, during Prophecies most NPCs didn't have an affiliation and was considered "<region> wildlife" - I wouldn't doubt that Salma was and is part of this. An affiliation only changes when there is a new NPC or the devs go back and change it. I doubt they'd do the later and it is the same NPC, despite the new name, as seen from Salma in ToA's model change. Even if her affiliation was changed, we should not just randomly guess what we think it is - especially for things that do not exist (monarchy/Seraph). She's part of the monarchy in lore, but not in game mechanics because there is no "monarchy" affiliation (unless it was just made, which I am somehow doubting). -- Konig/talk 17:52, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Come to think of it i can't see any modifications to Izzy's armor either.--Lord randy taylor 03:34, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Its small differences. The first one I see is around your shoulders you have just plain leather and a very large shining blade clasp, where Salma has a decorative (looks jeweled) band in the leather. Also the collar is different, (take off your hood) the player version has a cloth collar that almost comes back together and looks like I could duck a little and hide my lower face in it. Salma's is open and is not the same cloth. So basically just decorative stuff. Lillium 11:43, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

where's her crown?[edit]

After the Battle for Lion's Arch she becomes Queen but there is no crowning ceremony and afterwards in Lion's Arch Keep she is not wearing a crown. Ramei Arashi 00:23, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Maybe Krytan royalty don't wear crowns. The only royalty in the game, in fact, to wear a crown in Adelbern. -- Konig/talk 01:33, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

New Hero?[edit]

Does anyone else think Salma will be the new hero? After all, we've been told it's someone 'facepalmingly obvious' and someone we've invested time and effort in. Salma seems to fit, she's deeply connected to WiK, and she's neither a sin nor a ranger. The winter king 13:09, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
