AI skill usage[edit]

Foes only use this on players, never on henchies or heros.. it's F*ckin annoying >.<78.20.153.111 15:11, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Incorrect. They've used it on my Koss a few times before. The trick is, if you're a warrior or whatever, make your heroes charge ahead of you when you attack things that use this.-- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 15:13, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
im 100% sure, it's because its AoE cuz it affected ur koss78.20.153.111 15:41, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh i just vanqed marga coast as an imbagon, and i have 2 warriors with adrenal skills in party.. they never got targetted even if i stayed behind 78.20.153.111 15:42, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
No, I remember. It was outside the Sunspear Great Hall, he got hit and I didn't because I was far enough away. Of course, I did get hit with a recast but still.-- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 15:49, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
In hopes of settling this, I can say for certain that enemy AI will target heroes with this hex. --Kheraz Zarahi 01:39, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

They never hexed anny of my adrenal H/H .. NEVER:< only me me me i feel liek a victim QQ78.20.153.111 21:00, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

I just played through Cliffs of Dohjok, and even sent my h/h in alone to test this... Koss was never hexed with this. But as soon as I ran in, I was. :/ – Emmett 20:00, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

can ya blame them? for 15 energy and a 2 sec cast time i would want to save it for something important too.... (hint this skill could use buff.)

Do heroes use it ?My Gwen never cast "Shooting images" even when confronted by warriors only Nikademo 11:40, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

I hate this skill so bad. It's kinda OP if you ask me. 1 hex to COMPLETELY shutdown Adrenaline builds? It would be more balanced if it just halved the amount of Adrenalin gained, IMO. DevilJinKazama 16:03, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

There is a skill like that, it's called Soothing. Rain and Dark 18:26, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Learn to bring a hex removal if you know you will be encountering it Nay the One and Only User Nay the One and Only SIG.jpg 04:18, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Easy for you to say you're probably a caster o__o...I even brought a hex removal monk. The 8sec rc with Fast Casting still makes 'em spam it in a few seconds... --Anthony 16:49, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

While farming S Lodestones today for the Traveler's gift, not once did Norgu cast this on any of the Cracked Mesas or the related warrior boss. I tried changing up his build several times, and still no action. Perhaps the AI will only cast if the spell will affect more than one foe. Lord Flynt 23:28, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Soothing[edit]

adding Soothing to related skills. feel free to remove if you dont think it is related.--Ultima Flames User Ultima Flames Signature.jpg 00:52, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Bug[edit]

Added bug, they dont use this on spear weileders (paragones) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Reaper94 (talk).

First off "enemies" is an extremely broad term. Second, yes they do use this. I've had my paragon shut down because of this multiple times. Mirage Ibogas come to mind straight away when I hear about Soothing Images. Removing the note. ~Celestia 19:21, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
They use it on you because of your Warrior secondary. The AI doesn't recognize its use against Paragons. 24.197.253.243 23:39, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

I know Ai looks at weapons equiped and profession (BiP). They also "look" at your skills equiped (Ignorance?). So before you go assuming profession/weapon consider that if you even have one adrenalin skill on your bar they will probably drop this on you. Justice 21:25, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Late post, but I've been hit with this by npc foes on a R/P barrager far from any other party members with only one adrenal skill on my bar. Pretty sure the AI is capable of casting it on anybody... 64.15.81.27 08:01, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
The AI doesn't look at your skills equipped. For example, Jotun Mindbreakers will use Guilt on a Ranger with Warrior secondary that has no PvE-only spells or wand/staff equipped. They didn't cast Shame on that Ranger character though, which they possibly only cast on professions with skills that target allies (e.g. Monk, Ritualist). See Monster AI#Skill usage. --Silver Edge 01:37, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

So[edit]

Why isnt this used in PvP? Seems pretty good :S Reaper of Scythes** User Reaper of ScythesJuggernaut1.png 20:01, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Blind/Block can easily replace someone simply not gaining adrenalin. Its a powerful hex, just its competition has a more general useage. Justice 05:17, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Also consider that this hex only shuts down ~2 of the 10 professions of Guild Wars. Blind, Block, and other anti-melee hexes (Insidious Parasite, Empathy, Faintheartedness etc) will affect ~5 of the 10. 72.95.50.120 11:38, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Disgustingly OP?[edit]

Totally puts warriors and paragons out, how about we change mindfreeze to "target foe cannot cast spells"Reaper94 21:48, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind if it was gain adrenaline from attacks, but seriously? Yeah, it is pretty OP. →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 21:55, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
This is hardly overpowered. Not being able to gain adrenaline is nowhere near as bad as not being able to cast spells. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 22:12, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
True, considering the fact you can still hit them with a weapon that's stronger than a wand. But still. →[ »Halogod User Halogod35 Sig.png (talk ]← 22:28, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Also, adrenaline doesn't (directly) keep you and everyone in your team alive (and SI doesn't help prevent its own removal). :P –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 22:42, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Um, actually, if you're a Paragon, it does, but Paragons are nerfed so bad anyways that it probably doesn't matter. I didn't think this was OP, either, until I tried to run an adrenaline-based character through NF. >_> Gotta remember to bring a hex removal skill on half the entire party, or no one's removin' this. Which is a hero AI problem, more than anything else, but still. --Isolina 09:02, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
One copy of Expel on a hero keeps your party clean. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 17:52, 22 Apr 2011 (UTC)
Or you could just make sure you have an energy skill or two... Seems like any build that relies solely on adrenaline is a pretty bad idea anyway, except maybe in a very few special circumstances. 64.15.81.27 07:56, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
Played my imbagon through NF just fine. If you can't find ways to avoid this or Vocal Minority, you need to pay attention more to monster capabilities and move/position yourself accordingly. Or just bring appropriate hex-removal skills, they all work fine. No hero AI problems. MeiOfTheNorth 16:27, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
This skill is too much OP. Think in a skill that dont let casters gain energy for 20 seconds and has a recharge time of 8 seconds. This skill the way it is, complemented with energy burn, can shut down completely a warrior. How many skills can completely shutdown casters? To much OP in my opinion. Silvajef 10:44, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

I wonder what's so soothing...[edit]

... about the sight of a flexed bicep. MeiOfTheNorth 16:23, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

There's a shining bright line cutting through it, figuratively meaning that it's being weakened. Bicep symbolizes strength, if it's cut, strength is gone. Cut bicep in skill image = your strength is gone. 71.194.87.164 21:58, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
