Farmable?[edit]

In Jaga Moraine are Groups existing out of nothing but these Vaettir, abaut two dozen foes...If you get around the other groups before these and can create a build that can own theirs, this could maybe work... —ZerphatalkThe Improver 18:25, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

(Edit conflict) Glacial Stones, for which you can trade 100 for Glacial Gauntlets. They are very farmable; I have done so during the preview weekend.

Hard Mode[edit]

Are these bugged in HM? Just tried to vanquish the area with a team and I can't do more than 5 damage to one with a hammer... now, this is essentially a caster creature, surely I should do more than 5 damage to it?BorisDePig 23:43, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

They hav inherent abnormously high armor rating, this and their build suggests that vaettir don't like physicals. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 23:45, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
If you think about it they are kinda ghosts so its not that surprizing that a hammer goes through them.90.227.60.42 21:15, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
I've done 45 dmg to them with Savannah Heat during whole 5 sec (3,6,9,12,15). On normal mode. This surely is abnormal. Gunm 15:17, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
That suggests they have around 170 armor in NM from the lower Armor_rating table (21 * .1487 = 3.1227 ~= 3) --Falseprophet 18:29, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, running from Longeyes is easier, just have to be aware that an occassional spawn of the "Solo" Frozen Elemental may show up. MystiLefemEle 08:01, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
The aforementioned farming via kegs is no longer viable due to the June 11, 2009 update.

Total Health?[edit]

Does anyone know just how much health these guys have in HM? --68.32.187.152 14:44, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Using Rank 5 Light of Deldrimor 9 times put their health at about 600, making them pretty ridiculously tough with that armor. --Mister Snipey 04:20, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

warriors?[edit]

Since they have such high armor, couldnt it be that these creatures are W/Me? because they have load more armor then most casters and theyre attack is melee. and they drop a lot of sword, axes, hammers and shields... im thinking these guys have a mixed profession

They drop mesmer tomes. They're not warriors.198.37.19.137 18:40, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, since we would all love to vanquish 60 level 26 with ridiculously high armor that ignore armor themselves. Very nice. Paddymew 15:10, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

You dont try vanqing all 60 at once... and IW was a very good suggestion since it cuts right through SF meaning no tanking soo many at once Justice 21:11, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Observed drops[edit]

Is it just me, or do these guys only drop Mesmer weaponry? My VoS derv farm only gets these anyway. Pastafarian Hunter 16:05, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

They drop; Gold: Daggers, Bows, Axes, Hammers, Swords, Shields, and Mesmer Wands, Offhands, and Staves, including the semi-rare skin Fuchsia Staff, shields drop both as strength and tactics and sometimes motivation, since I last "Keg Farmed" them the drops do appear to be slightly different but it may just be coincidence. Imo this is the last best solo farm in the game and is best for Golds and Holiday drops, Mesmer tomes and Glacial Stones are also plentiful with enough farming here. --71.210.33.118 09:22, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

I do. Put a message on my talk page and I'll give you the ASSASSIN build.--Bestat Talk to me! 09:44, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

More Damage when moving?[edit]

Do they deal more damage when they hit you while moving? I am asking this becouse i farm them often and they hit with 0 when im standing still, and with 4-12 when i move. the build i am using is A/Mo Vaettir Farm build

from the critical hits page "If you strike a moving foe in the back, you will always score a critical hit. This is particularly important to remember when Kiting as you may end up causing more damage to yourself by the critical hits your attackers are making." 65.6.156.101 10:31, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
I love that build, when I'm not AFKing thats one of my fave thing to do. --Bestat Talk to me! 11:30, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
If you wish to avoid these critical hits, you can simply use the backwards-movement key to move (albeit slowly) without taking the critical hit damage. Talk‎ena. 11:32, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Ah, that explains, thank you.

HP[edit]

I removed this comment "These creatures have somewhere between 600 and 700hp. (if someone knows exact, plz tell)" if someone wants to research it and get a solid number in HM and NM I guess it could go back 192.203.160.241 17:08, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Not between 500 - 600, but 600 HP.MystiLefemEle 08:25, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Actually my calculations say they're slightly lower than 600... Im using the Mo/A build... I have kirin's wrath and Balthazar's aura which both deal 21 dmg per second (sf) i have a +20% enchant which makes BA last for 9.6 seconds (9 full seconds...9 full hits) this means 9X21 = 189 Kirin's wrath does 5X21 = 105 189+105 = 294... They die on 2 full casts of both skills making that 294X2 = 592 hp Max and 571 hp minimum... If anyone sees any mistakes in my calculations...please do tell :) 91.182.73.59 19:26, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

I'm farming them these days and i noticed that i need 7 crystals to kill them, using E/Me build with 16 earth, so crystals deal 106dmg. They don't die in 6 crystals, they die in 7. Can someone confirm this? Because that would mean they have more than 630hp. --88.207.13.109 16:20, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Since the Ele/HM update, the default HP for a lvl 26 creature in HM is 720. (80+lvl*20 by default and in HM another 20 for each level past 20, so 80 + 26*20 + 6*20 = 720) Tub 11:46, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Yup I wondered too why my old build wasn't working as effectively, and I hadn't done anything to change it.. therefore it had to be the foes. I use Glyph of Elemental Power in my build to amp up the crystal skills against them and Light of Deldrimor too. Two rounds of these skills used to kill them easily but not now. So 80dmg (x2) and 106 (amped to 118dmg with Glyph) x4 and that's 632dmg, so I have to go a third round of skills... which isn't an issue, just makes the run a bit longer. 120.29.33.229 10:10, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Subjective[edit]

To prevent 1rr bringing this to talk "Interestingly, these creatures deal earth damage. " should be replaced with "These creatures deal earth damage." what is interesting is subjective to the player. It is however odd and that is why it is noted. MrPaladin talk 19:32, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Probally due to them being of Mesmer class, the fact they deal earth type damage is noted and of notable interest.MystiLefemEle 08:27, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I came up with my own table because I needed to add map pieces, lockpics, festival items (which are in a second table), and black and white dye (which I had gotten as drops before I started recording). The average is obtained by dividing the part by the whole (aka. number of particular drop / number of runs). The average predicts how many of that item you are likely to get during a single run. If want want the percent chance of drop, just multiply the average by 100. Drop / Total Runs x 100 = percent chance of getting that item in one run. If the percent is over 100%, you're likely to get more than one of that item. It should be noted that drop rates increase/decrease depending on how far apart the kills are spaced out, and if a festival is currently running. Legendary Survivor should be maxed in 74 runs without scrolls, and less than half that with Slayer's Insight (which should last the entire duration of the run). There is a separate table for Festival drops since they aren't always available. --CrazyRabidSquirrel 22:28, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

damage note[edit]

as far as i know the note is wrong (it used to be right), Vaettirs dont deal Earth damage, they deal Elemental Damage, wich means armor vs any type of elemental damage works (and all mantra's work etc). (KILL MementoMori 23:21, 12 March 2011 (UTC))

punishing skills[edit]

was thinking of the paragon farmer, who iirc uses burning shield, and I seem to recall another build that uses vwk or something to damage on hit, or am I crazy? 24.130.140.36 20:18, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

[[Burning Shield] is single-target damage, useless against vaettirs. The only skill that might be construed as being a punish-skill is Wastrel's Demise, often used on Me/A or A/Me builds. Other builds use smiting prayers, scythe attacks, 100b, degeneration, plain old spell damage or others. VwK wouldn't be very common, since you'll then lack your elite skill for spell targeting prevention, requiring a second character with Spell Breaker. Tub 20:42, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

no 60 vaettirs in HM?[edit]

i wanted to farm vaettirs when i was there (and yes i'm sure it's in HM) there weren't as much as there should be is it possible that is because i still need to finish the northern allies quest? 12:06, 26 May 2012 Masterhorror

You must complete Blood Washes Blood. (I think completing the quest in normal mode will do the trick - but it may require hm too.. but they only take 5 min so not as if it matters :D ) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 10:35, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Solo builds for survivor[edit]

Here is a list of the builds I used for solo farming vaettirs for survivor. Ranger, Necromancer and Ritualist builds are also here, though i never tried it. Warrior don't seem to be able to farm vaettirs alone (energy management, damage and armor problems).

You know, there's actually a Derv build out there that uses Vow of Strength. Faster than the meta A/Me too, not to mention that AotHM build. Jeree95 (talk) 23:05, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
I suppose you meant VoS as Vow of Silence and AoHM instead of AotHM. I actually tried the VoS build first and while I also believe it is the fastest build, it has a flaw : the chain pious fury+extend enchantment+VoS (or even extend enchantment+VoS) needs to be done so fast that doing it without getting hexed in the split second is barely manageable for an average player, and definitely too risky for survivor. Hence why it isn't there. But if you like it, feel free to add it in another section. This one i used is both safe and quite fast--82.240.45.162 23:25, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
No I legitimately meant Vow Of Strength. The build uses health regen and defensive enchants to stay alive, you need ~800-900 hp to trigger IA, then MoP + VoS to 1-hit the ball. It's faster than Wastrel's A/Me. Can't die either unless you make a mistake. Jeree95 (talk) 21:11, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Excellent build indeed. Updated Dervish's section. I suppose it might work with other professions, perhaps with 100b to keep 10 armor vs earth damage ? Anyway, let's gogo banana scythe xD --Ruine User Ruine Eternelle Ruine Eternelle.jpg Eternelle 10:02, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

A build without Shadow Form is possible, as long as you can counter the health degeneration and kill fast enough to counter ether feast. Several self-reflexions :

  • 1) There might be a possible build revolving around Resilient Weapon and Resilient was Xiko for a ritualist.
  • 2) Reverse the last build for necromancer with "You Are All Weaklings!" Armor of Sanctity/Enfeebling Blood to reduce damage, remove Drunken Waster (eat some pie if IAS needed). At last the necromancer may become a true Reaper. No health regeneration if 100b.
  • 3) Melandru's Resilience is excellent. Need non-elite skill(s) to counter Ether Feast (see Video in ranger section)
