I would argue the part about it being a fata morgana - in my view, the statue is standing upright and actually topples over as you approach it. The damn thing wobbles in the wind! --Snograt 09:32, 8 April 2007 (EDT)

Hehe, I'm not going to get into a lengthy argument about that, especially with a kindred spirit like you, Kurd :). It's just that in my point of view the statue actually does fall. As seen in the screenshots, the statue's left leg is seriously eroded making the entire structure unstable. The statue wobbles in the wind and, as the player approaches, it falls down. I always thought that it really DID fall down as well, and ANet was simply too lazy/not capable of making such an epic collapsing animation! That or I never saw it.
