Talk:The Alkali Pan

Can someone post a detailed guide on how to lure Shelkeh the Hungry? It refuses to be lured past the rock, and just gives up interest whether or not a whole group is there getting aggro. Thanks 86.154.192.202 12:44, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

That group fell easily in HM to a pretty standard strategy - a 12BM Symbiosis spirit, and an enchant-heavy team. Make everyone a caster with a couple of long-lasting self-enchants. Give your healer hero lots of cheap enchants like Watchful Healing and Vigorous Spirit, and take along the protection hench. 2 self enchants + 2 Monk enchants puts any team member on 1000 health, Dervishes even higher.Hollowboy 18:39, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

Could this be a reference to Sherlock Holmes' the Great Alkali Plain? 99.0.60.26 03:25, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

More likely it's supposed to be an alkali flat (aka salt flat/salt pan) which is an actual feature of some real deserts. I don't know anything about the Sherlock Holmes story but I'd guess it involves an alkali flat as well. 109.150.170.157 22:16, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Area Below Alkali Pan[edit]

What is the area below alkali pan? How do I get there?--94.15.53.49 15:08, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

The Dynastic Tombs. (see The Desolation/Map for pictorial) - its a large area accessed during the Remains of Sahlahja challenge mission. It counts for 1.9% of the elonian map. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 16:09, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Vanquishing[edit]

this area actually gave me some trouble, which I was suprised at. In particular, the group in question was in the area of sulphur just to the east of Vah the Crafty - this mob of 15 undead has 3 cavaliers and two acolytes. Following a suggestion, I setup frozen soil in the area where "Vah the Crafty" was, and entered the junundu alone, and pulled the undead out of the haze + then heroed them to death. -Chieftain Alex 19:19, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

This vanquish is literally impossible without Frozen Soil 😡 Great that ANet requires a skill from 4/5-way into another campaign to complete this campaign's vanquish... My mercenary meta team wiped 3 times on Churkeh the Defiant (with precasting spirits and flagging heroes). Then I went back the other way, managed to grab the wurm spoor, but even with the wurms ressing each other we simply couldn't kill the chainressing cavaliers, acolytes and boss fast enough. Fuck this so very much... -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 17:19, 21 December 2020 (UTC)
I also had difficulty with this, especially Churkeh the Defiant's group where I got a bad spawn but didn't try to kill his group until the end of my run. Here's my advice:
  • Since Churkeh the Defiant's group is so close to Ruins of Morah, start there and kill it first. Reset if the group is hard to kill.
  • Minion master isn't very useful since big parts of the map use the Junudu where you won't be able to raise or maintain minions.
  • As mentioned elsewhere, Frozen Soil is very useful here. I'd also probably bring Edge of Extinction. Mdbauman (talk) 06:15, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

VQ bug[edit]

I tried to dispatch that group east of Vah the Crafty but ended up retreating to clear some DP first. When I came back after clearing the rest of the map they had disappeared, literally no trace of them at all and I was unable to complete the VQ. Phil (talk) 11:59, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

maybe you killed them but didn't notice and missed something else? Justice (talk) 19:09, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
They were stuck in a resurrection loop with the 3 para's and 2 healers loaded with a boat load of rez's when I left them, so they were very much alive. I did scour the rest of the map too, they straight up disappeared. Phil (talk) 20:33, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
