Charr/warthog[edit]

Regarding the lvl2 charr/warthog note, i want to point that as far as i know it's a client-side glitch where the name of a mob gets changed for other from the same zone, and that happends in several places (as noted on presearing.com forums at 1 and 2). Will set it as a bug here since it's a zone where new players may find it easily, but maybe should be noted in another place instead. --Fighterdoken 20:54, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

"It is suggested, that players, who are lvl +15 attempt to kill the Charr boss, for fun, as if the Charr were eliminated before the searing, Ascalon would have survived." If only that was true... << horsedrowner | talk | >> 08:26, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Also worth noting that a level 15 player has probably already killed the charr bosses several times already. At level 14+ the charr bosses are the only thing that will give XP except death levelling. Sadie2k 20:38, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I killed that char boss and cleared the altar where they performed the ceremony. But still Ascalon was not saved. I was surprised to see those chars I have slain performing ceremnony. I was not level 15 though, Can any1 confirm that this actually happens?

It doesn't happen. Sadie2k 06:51, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

cleaning up that note"...suggested... for fun..." yeah a touch much--Justice 02:21, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Gwen[edit]

Everyone is sure that Gwen won't follow you here, but once I had a dream she did. It wasn't very exciting.

Lol, that made me lol XD --XxGw2xX 15:40, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Gwen: Time for action!!!

  • 5 seconds later she dies
  • 10-15 years later, Gwen shudders in Eotn

Player: Whats wrong Gwen?

Gwen: I feel like I died inside.

Maps[edit]

Dont mean to be a bother, but could someone try and get a map with the boss locations on please? --Burning Freebies 19:48, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Oh you will see them, all 4 I believe, on the altar. Enter from gate, Path to fork, right fork, pass stationary patrol and roving patrol, head to right and down path, will soon see the altar. plus a swarm load of charr. will try to get a map up though.. MystiLefemEle 12:10, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Here's the locations marked with dots on a map. At location no 8 you find the bosses guarded by a few groups of Charr.--Kram 12:58, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Gw006-The Northlands.jpg

Recently I made a Charr Boss hunt in the Northlands... and something strange happened. At pint 10 on the map above at the ruins where two charr groups reside an Academy Monk did appear without moving. I decided to take a screenshot and added it down below. I doubt it was a simple bug... so it must have been something else. --Kram 00:22, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Gw082-The Academy Monk.jpg

Late answer, but I believe she's the academy monk keeping the shrine at the entrance of the zone. She oftens leaves her spot to heal party members, even when those are far away, and she might have gotten stuck in that place while following you--BrumeRuine82.240.45.162 15:36, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Cupcakes?[edit]

My birthday cupcakes don't seem to work in opening the door to the Northlands, can anyone verify and/or explain it?96.225.229.117 19:56, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I guess they refer to the speed boost, but I've seen people saying they've tried it now and you can no longer reach the gate in time... 85.19.140.9 18:35, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Looks like the Gate Monkeys will always be around then, if the cupcakes dont work. - MystiLefemEle 14:19, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Map of the Northlands[edit]

I got a littel question about the map of the Northlands. On map on Guildwiki(Gwiki) you can see much more area explord then I can Explore i already tried too look for a littel part where i can get trough too the other parts of the northlands but I haven't found a thing. Is this an old map or is this a map given by Anet with some area's you just can not explore or is this just me?? i hope i hear from someone

First, dont forget to sign after your comment with 4 ~'s As to the map, I just looked at it and it looks pretty much what I recall exploring. Were you able to go past the Boss area,, there is two interesting sights to see, left and right sideMystiLefemEle 14:50, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

I have the same problem. The wikia map is more like my explorable area: http://images.wikia.com/gw/images/8/89/The_Northlands_map.jpg --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.118.184.221 (talk).

I think the image on this article was taken from the gw.dat. Meaning it shows the entire thing unfogged - some of which cannot be unfogged by normal scrapping. Konig/talk 05:19, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Academy Monk[edit]

I make her follow my party using Minions...makes leveling/farming WAY easier. She's surprisingly very good for a level 5 Monk :) Remiel 20:47, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Changes?[edit]

I looked at a very old map of The Northlands and noticed that just after release, it looked closer to post-searing, in the Mission The Great Northern Wall with the bridge and everything near where you start to run from the charr. When and why was this changed? Teengamer 19:24, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Is it possible to link to where you saw this? – NuclearDuckie 13:08, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Can't stop this![edit]

This is the place where the Charr leader Jaw Smokeskin started the Searing. Killing these Charr will not prevent the Searing.

Titan effigies?[edit]

Titan effigies look more like Destroyer effigies to me. Should this trivia note be changed or not? 72.148.31.114 05:33, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe the effigies from Prophecies were created long before the Destroyers (game development point-of-view), and there are at least a couple quests/dialogues that say that the Charr worshiped the Titans as gods and built the effigies for them, including the main Prophecies storyline. Although similar, I don't think the effigies actually represent the Destroyers. In fact, if I recall correctly, the Destroyers hadn't even surfaced on Tyria at the time of Prophecies (Pre or Post). ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 06:14, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
The effigies look like Jeff Goldblum teleported a Titan with some Charr DNA, i.e. the Charr created icons to the gods somewhat in their own image. Also: Titans and Destroyers look vaguely alike (especially if made out of rattan or wicker)...except for the fact that titans have horns, as do the effigies. So... I don't think the trivia note should be changed. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 07:28, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
Lol. I do agree with you Farlo. However, It just occurred to me the story line of eye of the north, the dragons, etc. I was thinking of Lore wise... I couldn't quite figure out how Titans got in the mix. I just know they're at the end of the game, but the eye of the north and the charr and the destroyers... It just kinda makes a bit more sense. No one would know how old those effigies are. Could be a centuries type legend... Just something I was pondering. :-) 72.148.31.114 03:24, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, understandable, but I think it's said somewhere that the Shaman Legion took control under the Titan's influence and then had the Charr build those, but it is left open, so I suppose Anet could change the story if they wanted :P ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 05:36, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
