The Wedding picked searing dialogue.jpgThe Wedding dialogue 2.jpg I chose that she survived the searing, someone type it up ^^ I'm bored of typing dialogues.–User Balistic B d-dark.pngalistic 23:28, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

"Reward: Kieran Thackeray joins your party." Wait, am I reading that right? I thought a dev stated the new hero wouldn't be a ranger or a paragon? I need to go beat Battle for LA now... 71.89.5.181 23:34, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
Thought they said it wouldn't be a ranger or an assassin...But yeah, Keiran joins as a paragon.–User Balistic B d-dark.pngalistic 23:44, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
That's what I thought... but isn't the new hero supposed to be part of the stuff in Cantha? I'm kinda hoping that Keiran is just an extra and not the wonderful "surprise" new hero coming... -- Splodge of Cat 14:57, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Well they did say that we wouldnt expect it. they were right 67.233.104.206 14:24, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

So Nick Traveler is in the ceremony looking for Berserker Horns, says he's kidding but could be legit.

think it isn't legit, but i'm doing the updates for youOcren
would love to know if someone has tested it... but i guess its not legit.
Would it be too much to ask Anet to allow us to have the outfits for Gwen and Thackarey...afterall they are already programmed in. Gwen's bouquet would be epic. --Smithy-Star User Smithyben sig icon.png 01:15, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Also Mhenlo's comment "Oh CHARACTER, it's great to see you! No, you're not interupting anything. Please, come and let's get caught up. No, really...don't leave me alone with ...--Smithy-Star User Smithyben sig icon.png 01:18, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
I loled at that. then talk to cynn after is even funner lol Ocren 01:21, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
And Kimmes dialogue is also pure absolute total win. Idmz 02:31, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Well actually it says you join Keiran Thackerya's party... Who the hell does he think he is?
He's Keiran F'n Thackeray, that's who. 69.249.223.63 05:37, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
I took it to be a play on the normal "X joins your party"... we are, after all, going to Keiran's party here ;) -- Splodge of Cat 14:56, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
That was my thinking too, you join his party as in go to his celebration, but it's also a cool play on the normal reward wording. 86.163.211.80 21:02, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Another good line, this time from Vael: "3... 2... 1... there. The charges I placed in the charr camp should have detonated. And they thought this wedding would spare them from a quick death by my hands!" 83.248.186.171 11:03, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

FYI You do get a green when you complete The Wedding.Keiran comes equipped with "Keiran's Bow", an inscribable green bow of a different skin from the one you get from Gwen.It is however customized.218.186.8.244 15:22, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Quest availablility[edit]

Is this bugged? Seems this needs the scene with the norn, while the catering quest doesn'. Perhaps the scene was to be triggered by completing the catering quest? Backsword 01:47, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

I think that too, i wonder if the second update is about that, i think its a bug, the first time you talk to him he will give norn catering (meaning he should have only 1 choice), but if you retalk to him then he have the 2 quests menu. 82.224.68.40 01:58, 17 December 2010 (UTC)unsigned
You need to listen to the dialogues until the end (I think, well that's what I did) –User Balistic B d-dark.pngalistic 02:54, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Yes, he has catering immediately, but that scene also triggers immediately, and once it finishes you can do the wedding. Backsword 03:00, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Quick, gather Berserker Horns! --Curse YouCurse You(talk|contribs) 09:41, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
I was kicking myself for a couple seconds there... I thought I was going to have to go out and get those damn horns. 110.32.15.110 11:14, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Checked in with berserker horns in hand, just in case. Nothing. User: Kyubiko 99.246.26.128 21:00, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Should this be added to Berserker Horn trivia? Or Nicholas trivia? Or is that just obsessive … – NuclearDuckie 01:36, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
That Nick gave her a wedding present made out of Warden Horns? it's as valid as any other in-game trivia.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:44, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
Haha, this was very unexpected! I did this quest for the first time right during the week where you had to gather Berserkers Horns. I thought 'H4X!! This is a neat way to find out the item each week! But.. that means they wrote a special text for every item to relate to the wedding'.. It would've been impressive. --User Karasu sig.png Karasu (talk) 10:21, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

What hero renaming anomalies ?[edit]

A hero Gwen was in my party and she was renamed "Vanguard mesmer" as expected. Just checked screencaps to be sure. Which heroes didn't rename? Ebirah 10:26, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

all that weren't there --Dragon7 cape emblem.pngThe Holy Dragons 11:44, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Why is this listed as an anomaly if the ones that aren't there are the only ones that get renamed? Wouldn't it be an anomaly if the ones that were there didn't get renamed? 99.246.26.128 21:09, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Seems like this is working as intended and not an anomaly then? Unless you try bringing Thackery to his own wedding?... Aro User Aro Signature Logo.gif 21:45, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
If you add Thackery as hero then go to HOM, your hero is still Thackery and there is also Gwen and Thackery there. --82.226.191.237 02:31, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
How about henchmen? It's not often we get to go to a place where they exist both as NPCs and henchmen in your party. Maybe two Mhenlos can handle a Cynn... -Yossitaru 09:22, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
I just did the quest: I had Vekk in my party and he still showed up as Vekk despite the fact that the actual Vekk was also present. Same with Ogden Stonehealer... he was still on the job, healing the Aura of the Lich minions my hero kept popping while my hero version of Ogden stood there :P As far as I know, Gwen's the only one that renamed. 24.67.200.220 22:35, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Dialogues[edit]

Here are the dialogues of all the NPCs in the area (collected after Gwen and Kieran left the area):

Nicholas the Traveler: "It feels like only yesterday that Gwen was chasing after adventurers outside of Ascalon City. I'm glad that she has finally been able to find a bit of her own happiness, especially after all that she's been through. By the way, I was thinking of giving her some handmade hairpins as a wedding gift. If you could find me 3 Berserker Horns I should be able to fashion a nice set for her.
Just kidding! I got a few from one of the Vanguard scouts a little while ago!"

Rigo Bolan: "I scouted the area earlier to make sure that we wouldn't have Centaur trouble during the wedding. Fortunately, all we really have to worry about is if we brought enough food for the reception."

Dian Fermati: "It's not a real wedding *hic* without drinks!"

Nola Sheppard: "Once, when I was still learning the Necromantic arts, I used bone minions to act out a wedding. The real thing is so much nicer, though. Especially without the groom's arms falling off.
I'm so happy for the both of them!"

Koro Sagewind: "Gwen looks absolutely stunning in that wedding dress, don't you think?
Of course you do! I'm not called the Great Vanguard Koro for my spellcasting ability alone. No one else in the Vanguard could have helped select the outfits for this occasion!"

Lawrence Crafton: "Norn weddings, on average, cost 47 percent less for decorations and organizational overhead, when compared to Ascalonian weddings. However, they usually end up costing about 65 percent more when it comes to food and beverage costs. With the types of guests I'm seeing here, I'm glad I'm not the one footing the bill."

Mhenlo: "Oh, Ailina Havalii, it's great to see you! No, you're not interrupting anything. Please, come and let's get caught up. No, really...don't leave me alone with her..."

Cynn: "I remember Gwen from when she was 10 years old. 10! And SHE got married before ME? Some day I'm going to get tired of waiting for a certain Monk to propose..."

Eve: "I don't know what's more enjoyable: the wedding itself or waiting to see how long it takes Cynn to light Mhenlo on fire!"

Devona: "I can hardly believe that the little girl I knew from Ashford just got married! Makes me think it's about time for me to settle down. Of course, I'm taking this a whole lot better than Cynn is..."

Aiden: "I don't understand why someone would forsake the fine art of being a Ranger to run around yelling at people, but I suppose I am somewhat biased."

Helga the Cub: "After seeing how you humans celebrate, I've been eager to see how you enjoy a Norn celebration. Isn't this great?"

Valgar Tempestcrafter: "Ah, a fine Norn wedding this turned out to be. I knew this was a feat worthy of my mighty prowess!"

Galbraum the Intoxicated: "Wha? Huh? Yes, I would like *hic* another drink. Thanks for off...*hic*...ering."

Bartak the Glutton: "Seconds? I'm going back for sevenths!"

Vael: "3...2...1... There. The charges I placed in that Charr Camp should have just detonated. And they thought this wedding would spare them from a quick death at my hands!"

Kimmes the Historian: "Perhaps now they will stop flirting and bickering in the Hall of Monuments as if I weren't standing RIGHT THERE."

Artificer Mullenix: "I have a detailed transcript of the ceremony, should anyone need it."

Casey Carpenter: "I'm so happy for Keiran and Gwen! I always knew he would win her over eventually."

Jora: "A fine Norn wedding, if ever I've seen one. May neither of them ever hunt alone again."

Ogden Stonehealer: "There is an open bar. *hic* May the Great Dwarf give me strength..."

Vekk: "A Norn wedding is all fine and well, but if you want to see a real party, you should see an Asuran wedding! No one is allowed to leave until a precise calculation is made for how much love is in the air. Nothing says "I love you" like complex algorithms!"

Olaf Olafson: "What have you to tell me?"

I think that's it! Ailina 20:26, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Why didn't everyone get invites?[edit]

I thought it odd that Lina, Herta, Talon, Lo Sha, and Zho were apparently not invited to the wedding. OK, maybe Herta, Talon, Lo Sha, and Zho are not "old friends" ... after all, they are from different parts of the world than Gwen and Thack. (Perhaps: sorry, small event; no space to invite co-workers ... even though there's enough food to feed an army of Norn.) But what about Lina? Perhaps this is proof that post-searing Lina is not Lina the Healer? Gwen would certainly have known Lina the Healer! And regarding Zho ... Aiden wouldn't bring her as his date? Or perhaps their apparent romance isn't a romance after all ... just Ranger friends? -- ZeeWabbit 16:55, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Maybe they were stuck guarding the fort.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:06, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
or on a mission? , or they hate Gwen/Thackeray? --Dragon7 cape emblem.pngThe Holy Dragons 15:25, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
As we all do? And Aidan's dialogue made me laugh. EiveTalk 10:28, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
I thought Aidan and Devona were an item. When I saw Aidan talking to Zho in all those outposts, I assumed they were just discussing ranger-related stuff. --RoyHarmon 00:07, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Skill Unlocked[edit]

After Kieran unlocked, Song of Restoration became unlocked for me. Due to me not being a dirty skill farmer. Or a Paragon. 86.8.45.17 18:22, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Anomaly[edit]

"Reward: You join Keiran Thackeray's party." — In-game text
"You are able to add Keiran Thackeray to your party, despite the text suggesting that you join his." (Previous note)
"not an anomaly - there's a dual-meaning - Thackeray unlocks as a hero, and you join his _party_ - as in, celebration, not your adventuring party..." (Comment on removing the note.)

I think the note should remain; the text is misleading even if there's a double meaning (and the double meaning doesn't hold up under scrutiny):

  • You do not actually join Keiran's party (in fact, you are already in the Wedding Party as a participant and attending the wedding party as a guest); there is no in-game indication that anything has changed for Keiran at the conclusion of the wedding.
    • Arguably, if you were joining the celebration, he would offer that you join Keiran and Gwen's party .
  • What does change: you unlock a hero.
    • The equivalent dialogue for every other hero-unlock quest in the game is, "[Hero] joins your party."

While you join KT's party has multiple meanings in English, it can have only one meaning in this context. Thus, the text is anomalous for two reasons: it's not consistent with other unlock messages and it points players in the opposite direction from what actually happens or is possible in-game.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 11:07, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

      • what about the fact Keiran is a Paragon at this point, but still Olaf ask him "When your last arrow has flown" ....F U Anet--123.211.35.103 15:38, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Unpopular?[edit]

I don't think Gwen and Thackeray have any real friends--almost everyone there seems to be there for the free food and booze :P S F I R 05:54, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Everyone hates them. It's a fact. 82.95.85.186 21:27, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Well, they did run away to get married at Olafstead because everyone bugging them at EotN about the wedding was driving them crazy. I imagine they'd have a lot more people attending if they chose to have the ceremony at the Eye. 96.33.173.168 01:55, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
What that sounds like is an excuse written into HotN to keep costs low over at anet *wink wink* 98.145.66.137 14:53, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
The sole purpose of HotN (and of all of Beyond) is almost certainly to give players something to do while waiting for GW2, nothing more. It's not supposed to be good. :-) Reusing existing GW content and not requiring any significant involvement from developers is crucial, since all the key manpower is focused on the new game, not on these rather pointless little fill-ins. So yeah, people shouldn't expect too much from HotN. My main complaint though is that we needed another Paragon hero like a hole in the head ... Morgaine 10:24, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Except that Beyond will continue after GW2 is released, and many people greatly enjoy the new content. It is too bad that the new art is few and far between, but I think they're doing an admirable job within their constraints. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 16:43, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Shadow Step For >100% Mapping[edit]

Just experimenting with portal jumping during the wedding. By doing so, you'll be able to map 3 spots beyond the standard amount.

No food table![edit]

If you don't do your "important" task of catering there's no food ;) Anywho I always thought it was important to get food, at least for the norn.A Liability 11:21, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
