Question for A-net[edit]

will you make the new tonic come out on the 30th, thursday, but a day away from the next month, or will you make us wait a quarter into august?--User Fire Tock sig.jpgFireTock 21:18, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry but no Anet employees passes their time reading any of these stuff. Your best bet is to find the developer's talk page responsible for this and ask him/her the question directly.--ShadowFog 13:25, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Quick Question[edit]

If you're doing an emote (say /dance) while in a tonic and you change back to yourself, what happens? A)Do you stop doing the emote, B) do you do your version of it, or C) do you keep doing the style of emote you were doing? All tonics but monthys drop year round[edit]

Benn asked on other talk pages about proff that they do drop, and also whatlinsey has told me. I can assure you that me and her where talking about it, before the grenchie tonic was found in the chest. That indeed they do drop year round. she does not answer it 100% in the screens but, she gives a yes/no answer, and says when its found you can edit wiki. I Have seen it in game in trade, and the guy said he just got it as a drop,Well some reason i keep getting a error with imageshack. Everlasting Henchmen Tonic[edit]

I just read on the main GW page about the henchmen skill bar contest, at the bottom it says - "One Everlasting Henchman Tonic. This unique item grants the winner the ability to temporarily transform into the image of the henchman they are named after." I would hope that someone can get info. (Icon, "Forms" and the such). Also, a link to the page. - [1]--173.49.218.81 02:27, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Ah, I see this was on the wiki. (In a journal) but, I would think there might be a person who won that uses the wiki and would be glad to see any images of the tonic icon or the forms. :)

they copied builds of pvxwiki, they don't deserve to win as they didn't follow rules, each builds was copied the rearranged from builds already in the meta. one idiot even used an archived build. sent in report with links linking to contestants builds and pvxwiki builds comparing each other...they didnt do crap, thus Anet sucks for this 98.88.209.93 00:42, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Nothing to do with jealousy, bad contest is bad. @OP: the forms are the new henchmen build winners, they were announced and listed. Too bad so many of those tonics already swapped hands. Im not usually one for trolling ANet but this one was practically dispicable. Bad contest is very VERY bad. These were just current metas copy pasted from PvX. Ive run more than one of those henchmans bars on several occasions. "I want several thousand ectos for copy pasting from PvX too!" /nod head, Yup.Briar 11:34, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Sorry double post but i just had a thought, im considering actually posting the links to the builds on PvX on the individual henchies pages. Just to prove a point. This contest was ANet handing out free ectos to a bunch of jerk-off's. Briar 11:36, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Don't do that. ^^ You'll just get suspended for trolling the wiki. And there's no need to prove that point, everyone knows anyway. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 16:46, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Using two tonics at once[edit]

Just wondering, is using two tonics at once repeatedly to level up party points considered bug abuse? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:24.78.38.188 (talk).

I would just like to know how you do it. --talk Large 15:18, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
If you click really fast, it is possible to use 2 tonics at once instead of 1. I wouldn't worry about it, it's not much difference between that and just rapidly zoning and using tonics (and there's nothing to say that's "illegal"), as long as you don't bot it. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 15:28, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
There should be a note that it is in fact possible to use multiple tonics (and that all their points count?) if you quaff them fast enough. Also it's much faster then and especially if used with zoning --User Karasu sig.png Karasu (talk) 21:01, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
So far I haven't been able to use more than two. The points do count. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 14:10, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

You don't have to click fast. Just click on something (like a NPC) far away. While your character is auto-running you can use 2 tonics (tested with frosty). The first one fails (but gives points) and you can use the second as long as you are running. Stopping or using the keyboard after drinking the first tonic triggers it and you can't use another one. CC 09:44, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

I just recently found a more reliable way to spam double tonics while mapping back and forth from my Guild Hall to the Zaishen Menagerie using the Guild Hall button. Presumably this would work equally well between any two outposts or districts. When loading from one outpost to the other, my screen shows (1) the loading screen for the target outpost, then (2) a brief black screen, then (3) the loading screen again, followed by actually loading into the outpost itself. If I hover my cursor (which is visible during the loading and black screens) over where my inventory slot holding the tonic stack is going to be once I load in, then at some point during the SECOND loading screen, the cursor will change from the standard arrow to the inventory "hand" cursor. If I double click one time BEFORE the cursor changes (but after the second loading screen appears), and double-click again AFTER the cursor changes to the "hand," then I use two tonics and the game logs the party points for both. This trick may not work as well for people with faster computers and/or faster internet connections (and you still have to be fairly quick about it), but I thought I'd point it out as a more reliable way to shorten the time needed to max the title. Using them in Explorable Area's[edit]

Can anyone tell me why they made it so you cant use the tonics outside of the towns? *Aside from the tonics that do* (213.171.246.192 23:57, 15 May 2010 (UTC))

They lack a full set of animations for casting spells and using all the different weapons. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 10:12, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
That is true, however what I don't understand why tonics like the Ooze and Spider ones, etc can't be used in explorable areas, when there ARE creatures which use that model and DO have casting/attacking animations. I would like tonics a lot more if they could ALL be used in explorabled areas. The Underworld being conquered by a group of bunnies would be epic! Power WMElementalist-tango-icon-200.png 03:35, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
And also, I think they could easily implement this if they simply didn't show what player's are equipping while in tonic form, in case of clipping issues etc. (It must be hard to depict a bunny wielding a staff xD)... And the animation could be just like their real counterparts. Power WMElementalist-tango-icon-200.png 03:39, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
I think that it may also have to do with changing your collision-box. Given that the Zaishen tonic supposedly (never tried it myself) can be used, along with the Elf and Candyman, and all of those forms are "player-character-sized"... 83.251.193.118 22:39, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
That's also a good point. They would affect body blocking and targeting (bunny vs. bone dragon form). And I somehow can't see a bunny casting meteors or an ooze throwing spears, etc., it makes no sense, whether you display the weapon or not. While there are a few more models that might be appropriate for combat (Borean and Cerebral come to mind, as they can match usable heroes Jora and Vekk), there's no reason to spend the time to implement a couple monthly tonics but not the rest. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 16:23, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
^With the new 6th yr EL tonics that CAN be used in explorable areas that reason has being completely blown out of the water. M.O.X, Destroyers, Kuunavang forms? Those aren't supposed to be player size. I'm a bit pissed off at that how Anet just hands over a new tonics that are so much desirable than ones people had to work their butts off on for zkeys to obtain. If they could get away with Vekk forms in PVE why not the Asuran tonic form? -Wrei110.175.241.56 12:35, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
I sort of agree with the above post. It would be nice to give us an update to use our monthly tonics in explorables aswell, because thats were we REALLY want to be using them. Not in outposts :/ (Ixillius 17:18, 7 May 2011 (UTC))
I agree UW bunny attack would be epic... also bunny tonic + AoS = you are an asura... you would look like a bunny and spout semi random retarded comments... just like an asura as far as i see them... yes there is the vekk tonic but i am somewhat partial to the cottontail 71.168.97.224 22:23, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Need more data on new tonics[edit]

I'd like to see templates for the new tonics include pictures of the form(s), and also supported (or unsupported) emotes. Just my humble opinion.

How about either on this page or on each tonic page? Too much to go into a template. Kaisha User Kaisha Sig.png 18:54, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
All the human hero tonics should have all emotes available since they're just normal human models. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 18:59, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Makes me wonder if they're doing tonics again next year. They made more tonics available than they would have made miniatures. I think they might do 1-2 more years of this and switch to something else. Then again, once GW2 comes out, almost everyone is gonna be moving over there, so it's not like they need to try hard to keep us happy here. --Lustre Of Havoc 15:37, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Most of what they're doing points to putting GW1 on auto-pilot. I doubt they'll come up with new tonics next year, I'd be willing to bet the April 1st quest will repeat (way too much work went into that to abandon it), the daily and weekly things are all "cycles", etc. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 15:53, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm reasonably sure they've already relocated all the employees from gw1 to gw2 - and if that's the case, there's really no reason to completely stop updating gw1. Yeah, granted gw1 will probably bring in less profit as opposed to gw2 so they may slow down in update frequency / size, but you're also assuming gw2 will be a complete, flawless success upon release, when the fact of the matter is that almost every online game to date has had some major notable flaws for the first few months. Granted, with the amount of time anet has put into gw2, I'm hoping this isn't going to happen to them, but realistically, the game probably isn't going to be flawless.
tl;dr - I doubt they'll just /autopilot gw1 and walk away. 199.216.252.3 16:23, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
I think it defeats the purpose of April Fool's Day if they keep playing the same quest over and over. You're supposed to surprise your players. --Lustre Of Havoc 18:34, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
@199.216.252.3 i don't i think they are gearing up to put gw1 on autopilot i mean look at Lindsy's comments before she quit the wiki she talks about how a lot of the stuff they are doing is making the game be more automated.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 12:44, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
I didn't mean that they were going to walk away (and they haven't relocated all the employees from gw1 to gw2, that's how we get new content), I just meant that after GW2 is released, while the game will still be here, I'd expect little to no "new" content, just cycling of the existing content. That, by the way, has nothing to do with GW2 enjoying a flawless release. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 12:47, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Whoa. How did the topic from tonic suddenly shoot off to GW2? Back to the tonics. Does anyone know the new tonic's effects on dervishes already in Avatar form or vice versa? I don't have the necessary tonics to investigate myself. -Wrei110.175.241.56 14:52, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Unsurprisingly, if you are in avatar form when you activate the tonic, you will appear as the avatar until the skill ends, at which point you will appear in the tonic form. If you activate the avatar form after you use the tonic, your appearance changes to that of the avatar (until the skill ends, and you revert to tonic form). -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 00:28, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Functionality Change Request[edit]

For the Love of GOD(yes, I'm frustrated hence this post)... ANET please adjust the functionality to allow players to use a tonic while under the effect of a tonic, i.e. make them spammable please. It would be really nice not to have to change districts if you're trying to get through a stack for title points. Collector's Edition dance + Everlasting forms (/dancenew)[edit]

Have anybody seen or checked it up if the 6th EL tonics ( Dervish, Paragon, asassin, Ritualist forms) which can perform their original class dances also perform /dancenew while using the Tonic? That would cool to have EL tonics from these class if so, you could have all the /dancenew in any char.

For instance : Xandra and Razah normally perform their /dance (ritualist dance). Someone with CE factions test them up with /dancenew

That didn't work with Hayda. The /dancenew the /dance paragon perfom, normally.

I was also hoping /dancenew would work... especially if you could play as a female paragon and convince your elf tonic to dance like a stripper with lights and lazers :) Durp da durp 22:28, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Birthday tonic table[edit]

I would think it would be best to make the table consistent with others on the page. Thoughts? The major reason for using the item icon sparingly here is 1) The icon is the same for all of them, and 2) to cut down on the size of the table immensely. That Sounds Risky | 16:04, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
