Talk:Unwaking Waters (explorable area)

From Guild Wars Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

I just posted this on the other wiki [1].

Guess I'll add a note. Haven't personally confirmed that it works the same way going to Kurzick side, but it seems safe to assume it I hope.

I can confirm that it is the Befriending the Luxon quest completion that determines entrance from Unwaking Explorable to Unwaking Waters Luxon Mission. Prior to doing the below, my rit had completed Imperial Palace, Befriended the Kurzicks and was not able to get in. I tried when my faction was higher in Kurzick and then with Luxon and no entry. This character has done Journey to Cavalon (capped all the Rit Luxon side elites too). Other characters on this same account have been able to go this way before, but this character could not until she had completed the Befriending the Luxons quest.

SS showing Hylas not giving option to enter: [2] Notice that I have the 10k faction for Luxon, but do not have the Befriending the Luxon quest.

SS showing Hylas giving option to enter: [3] You can see that Hylas now gives me the option to enter and that I have the quest completed in my Quest Log. Obviously, you don't need to have accepted the reward, you just need to have completed it. However, if you abandon it without getting the reward, you will no longer be able to get in.

I also went in with the quest active (and completed) with another guildie who had not yet done Befriending the Luxons (but had finished the game via the Kurzick side) while I had the completed quest and it still said I couldn't go in. He zoned out and then I was able to get the option to enter the gate. At this point I now had the city on my map, so I abandoned the completed befriending quest and tried to get in from the explorable area again, and I couldn't do it. I then reacquired the quest again, but this time took the reward, and I could get in the city. BladeDVD 10:43, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Resurrection Shrine[edit]

Has anyone else experienced this bug: your party is defeated in NM, and all you can do is return to the outpost, instead of just resurrecting at the shrine? Not funny when you're trying to cap an elite after having cleared the whole area in NM... Sjeng 19:50, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

It's because the only shrine in the zone is faction controlled, and if you are on the opposing side you need to bribe the priest to activate it. --Valshia 20:45, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
"if you are on the opposing side you need to Bribe violently slaughter the priest to activate it." Fixed. - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 20:49, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
You could also use raep, but I think it's not an option... --User rayd sig.pngRayd 20:52, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
This also happens in hm, changed. Limu Tolkki (Limu Tolkki - talk) 17:13, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

This is so fustrating, I have activated the shrine and yet I respawn at the entrance - even if I die next to the shrine! BAH!

Vanquish[edit]

There are several hidden Oni and hidden human enemies.

Your group must have at least one elementalist with spells that go over walls, as some of the enemies are in inaccessible places. Fire magic spells like Searing flames does this job fine. There are enemies by the docks, which don't come down to you. Also there are some on the other side of by of some gates, which you cant get through.

I have tried and faild to kill the last few inaccesable Outcasts a few times both times there were 2 or 3 that keept fleaing and healing dispite having a longbow and ele air spiker. On the second attempt I too a shadow step which also failed. Would consume corpse work ~ can anyone who vanquished this area give any advice? and as a side note there seems to be some explorable mist that i cant reach on this area will this stop me ataining cartographer. 194.176.105.38 12:03, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
I just vanquished the region without any enemies at inaccessible places. Everything was fine. 141 foes. Maybe the bugs only occur occasionaly or they have been fixed.....? --Tapps75 09:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
It happened to me today. I just nuked them. KStarfire 06:32, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
I'm guessing that some random quest is affecting the area. The extra spawns are always there on the characters who have (many) unfinished Factions quests; never on any other characters. 24.197.253.243 17:20, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I just vqed the area. 141 enemies and i did it in a little more than 15 minutes. The 7 heroes update should cut down the time to vq this area by a lot (certainly did for me), so the note with the "it takes 30 minutes to vanquish this area" may need to be changed. -- Rocketrmd 18:07, 3 August 2008 (PST)
Completed vanquish with 110 total, no 'inaccessible' enemies. Quick and easy.--Marina Tidwell 16:24, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
17 min quick vanquish about ~ 150 foes. No inaccessible foes, pretty quick. Careful on some of the pulls, but otherwise quick and easy! --LunarRXA (talk) 15:08, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

Reshrine[edit]

Anet...its time you should at least consider this problem...I belive the way to help solve this is to put a Rez shrine on both sides of the map and one in the dead center uncontrolled. That way if an opposing faction dies all the time when trying to just cap one skill or vanquish....Then they have to start all over again....PLEASE! FIX THIS!

Just bribe or kill the priest. It is "Factions" so Kurzick/Luxon control is a pain you have to look out for. – josəph 21:27, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

The notes seemed biased towards luxon...[edit]

I mean, "if the kurzicks control it you'll miss out on luxon bounty?" yeah, well then if the luxons control it, kurzicks trying to farm it for points will miss out on that bounty. Unless I'm missing something about vanquishing here? personn5User Personn5 sig.jpg 05:18, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

The phrase you quoted is out of context, since it's part of a bullet about efficient farming (not about bounties generally). This zone gives VQ points towards Luxon no matter who controls locally. If Luxons owns, you get Lux VQ & Lux bounty; if Kurzicks own, you get Lux VQ but Kurz bounty. As you spend faction, you lose the points in the opposing faction. So it's better to farm when Lux controls, because, for the same effort in time, you earn more points. So, yeah, the zone is biased towards Luxon farming and, consequently, it makes sense that the bullet is, too.   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 07:35, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Oh, Didn't know about the VQ getting luxon bounty. Haven't vanquished anywhere in the Jade sea/echovald forest. personn5User Personn5 sig.jpg 19:43, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I didn't realize it either until the first time I VQ'd in faction territory (despite the notes present on various articles here).   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:56, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Shrine priest follows party[edit]

I was running through with an MM hero and got to the shrine just below the Harvest Temple. As usual, the priest (Luxon) healed the minions, but when I moved away he followed the party and kept doing it no matter how far I got from the shrine. It's nice to have an extra monk along for the ride, but it's probably a bug. -- Tekn0mancer User Tekn0mancer-Awaken the Blood 19px sig.jpg talk 17:36, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

NPC monks can be stupid this way. 141 foes, 32min vanq/map. Justice 06:14, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Cartographer[edit]

"If you are cartographing the area, you will need to bring a shadow step skill to gain access to the south-western part of the area. You will have to use it on a Reef Lurker located near the shipwreck that is blocking your path."

Could someone post a screenshot of this? I can't see any Reef Lurkers in the inaccessible area. -- kazerniel (talk) 13:51, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

For an easier way to map the SW area, start the mission from the Kurzick side instead of the Luxon side. You only have to defeat the first mob and then quickly turn left and scrape that area. JSYantiss (talk) 18:09, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
