grind based title rebalance

does anyone know what they mean to do with the grind based rebalance?Chaotic1 22:45, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

It's all over the place, you just have to check some forums and Linsey's Talk page: rebalance titles so they become less annoying to get (but not easier, just less annoying). It seems they are going to try Wisdom and Treasure account wide, although it may be not possible. And some changes in other PvE grind titles, so they become less annoying to get with more than one character. That's what I've heard. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 15:46, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Treasure hunter & wisdom have recently been confirmed as soon-to-be account-wide. Kurzick/luxon will be faster to get (higher rewards for many things except HFFF). That's all we know at the moment, but many other changes are possible. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 16:33, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

well if they make it so that eotn titles r easier to max, i wont complain :D..all i have left to get r10 on is vanguardChaotic1 02:45, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

I agree with you. At 4x 160k points x # of characters (or even 1 character), that's a lot of grind. It isnt so bad with the dwarf title because of the snowman cave but, there is no snowman cave for Norn, Ebon and Asura titles. 24.188.207.20 20:46, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
To be fair I'd also would like for PvE skills to be easier to acquire once unlocked, tomes are nice but it is such a hassle to have to run after the same skills for the tenth time or more especialy when all you want is for a new character to be able to help somewhere.
Skill Hunter is a title that needs to become account-based.User Ereanor sig.jpgreanor 00:27, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Nope. It's an achievement title. You get each point separately, and once you get that point, you never get it again even if you do the same thing. Like all the other achievement tiles, it's character based and its only reward it's the title itself and its statue in the HoM. Other achievement titles are Protector, Guardian, Cartographer, Vanquisher, Master of the North. The 'missing' Adventurer title (for questing) would be an achievement title too. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:11, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm all for reduced grind, but I agree with Mith. Here are my arguments: (1) Skill Hunter is one of the faster titles to max. (2) The cost is low, considering some of the costs are paid for by loot you get while capping skills. (3) The work and skill involved differs depending on your profession, i.e. profession matters. (4) It's almost repetition-free, in fact, you mostly need to go to different places and kill different bosses. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 14:47, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

(Laughs)I didn't knew there were such things as title seekers! I had to see it to believe it! Good luck on the whatchamacallit titles.--ShadowFog 16:42, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Open A Book Store or something!

new update was awesome, good job arenanet, but, now we are going to be stuck with soo many books, not only 4 from GW:EN but anoter 6 for all campaigns *Nm+Hm* and a 7th one for all 3,Zho's Journal & MOX's Manual thats 13 slots of inventory, per character it would be great if they made a special bookshelf in your storage or a new storage in the guild hall as a book library, or a new slot of inventory specially for the books! Huh? do you save full books or something 0.o? i was more pointing at the room from inventory/storage thats been wasted now with books which you keep for the missions that still need to be done Li Ngalfar
ArenaNet have already said that they cannot implement any new storage as it would require the acquisition of new servers to store that information and I don't think that they are going to purchase any more servers for GW1 when GW2 is looming ahead. Ahh, here's the source. --kaheiyeh 10:47, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
I don't see where it says that, in fact, in seems to say the opposite, although I understand that "improvements" to storage do not necessarily mean more storage.
Also, should we keep the payment method feature that's in this article since it was promised like 2 years ago? I mean, it seems as though that is not coming anymore... Satanael 17:48, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Should just scrape the whole book thing, and just have that concept built into the character, like on the H menu or something. Unconfirmed changes and features known to be under consideration

Should this page mention changes and features which have been confirmed to be under consideration, but are not guaranteed to be included? IMO if they are listed in the page, they should be listed in a separate section such as "changes and features under consideration". -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 01:09, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

i think the idea of a "possiable changes/features" is a good idea. As long as it follows the format the other sections do (the change or feature that's possibly being done followed by a link where the information comes from). ~PheNaxKian User PheNaxKian sig.jpg Talk 11:33, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

I agree that we shouldn't list anything on this page without a solid source. The removal of heroes from PvP is stated to be under consideration at User:Linsey Murdock/FAQ. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 23:57, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
It depends on how far you want to go. Balance updates would make the majority of that section because skills, AI and bug fixes are always on the table for discussion. I'm with Alaris on this, though, people could source info from an answer that reads "We'll look into it" (Terra Xin 09:05, 10 April 2009 (UTC))
It would need to mention specific changes, unless you want things as vague as this. 66.190.15.232 14:15, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

$40.00

Did we really wait this long for you to release another campaign that consists solely of 4 storage panes? Are you honestly doing this without guilt in your heart? People NEED stora- oh wait, nice job on the April Marketing Scheme.

There are other things in the update which are free. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 22:41, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
$40 for 4 tabs of storage is a joke, easier just to get a second account for the same price and have the same amount of extra storage + 4x 45 slots from extra characters. Don't even need a 2nd PC to trade to yourself, since it's very easy to run 2 instances of GW on 1 PC Joe Canadian 00:14, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
With a second account you have to make trades to move items. With characters you have to log in and out all the time. You don't just pay for more slots. You also pay for the commodity of accessing them from any characters. Also, you will get the Equipment bag for free. And that would be some free item slots. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 01:53, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
The Equipment bag is irrelevant to what we're talking about since you get that free no matter what. And is making a quick trade from 2 instances of GW on the same PC any more difficult than constantly switching characters ? Also think of it this way $40 for 4 tabs of storage = 80 slots vs a 2nd account (only $29.99) with 4 tabs of default storage (80 slots + Material Storage) + 4 character slots (45x4=180slots). So we have $40 for 80 slots vs $30 for 260 slots + material storage, what would you choose ??? This is a complete waste of money. I might consider paying if it was $10 for all 4 new tabs, but the current price is BS Joe Canadian 01:48, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Joe, your math is a bit off. It's actually 220 for one campaign; The other forty are given with an additional two campaigns. 1 Campaign: 220; 2 campaigns: 330(+110[20 panes + 2 mules]); 3 campaigns: 440(+110[20 panes + 2 mules]). Regardless, it's cheaper just to buy mule accounts. Hell it's cheaper to buy 2 more character slots, which provides 10 more storage panes than buying the storage upgrade and costs half as much. --TalkRiddle 06:24, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
Ah, good point. I forgot you only get 2 tabs + materials for a single campaign. I hope Anet has the sense to change the pricing on these new upgrades since it's cheaper either way with extra character slots or another account Joe Canadian 13:04, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
you forget there also giving us a bag for free which gives 10 more spaces, so buying a new tonn slot is 55 slots for 10 bucks --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:66.168.66.28 (talk).
5 to 20 more spaces depending on which size of equipment pack you use. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 18:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Some storage space costs as much as a full campaign full of content. /discussion 68.193.113.198

It's a similar tradeoff to buying additional character slots on the same account. Live team obviously wasn't expecting this would be something everyone would buy into. --click moar Mafaraxas 04:52, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Don't you mean BAWWWWWW?68.193.113.198
Just think of each pane as 4 $2.50 Belt Pouches that all your characters can snoop in. You'd pay $2.50 for a belt pouch wouldn't you? Although if you did buy a belt pouch from anybody other than ANet, your account would be banned 68.231.147.250 05:58, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
That makes it worse, considering belt pouches are free for a couple trinkets in every newb-town.

The way I see it, you're paying more for the commodity of having a common storage you can use, than the actual amount of space. So it's less of a mule, and more of an organiser. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 18:25, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Say wut? It's hard to read when you write like that. Please put some effort in your writing, so we are tempted to make the effort to understand you. Thanks. As for debating... we all have choices, and the right to voice our opinions (within reason). -- Alaris_sig Alaris 04:58, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
There is no need for me to be understood since the people I'd like to persuade are all a very opinionated bunch, which is fine. I can't say I'm not opinionated or else I wouldn't be here typing. But acting like people shouldn't have the right to complain and vent simply because GW is f2p and has "options" (see: 4th Anniversary discussion) get's me on the crusaders path. I wish people could at least try to understand why someone complains before they fall back onto "stup crying", "options" or "QQ". People don't usually complain for illegitimate reasons, nor is complaining necessarily whining or sticking needles into your eyes. 68.193.113.198
Agreed. I find people who call others QQers terribly annoying. Especially as the QQers in question often bring up good points to the table. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 13:50, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
No one is forcing you to buy the storage. If you say it's cheaper to get a 2nd account (which it is, no argument) then get a 2nd account. I for one, will be buying the 4 storage panes as soon as I get my next paycheck. Quit complaining, you've already decided it was cheaper for the account, so go buy an account. --Apple Love 15:02, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

News about GW2?

It says in the history section that the reversion to the edit made that removed the note about upcoming news....says that a feature relates to something offered to the public as an attraction. Shouldn't a feature represent something more substantial than that? A reference to Twitter isn't really an ideal way to source that substance. The information is also redundant in a way, since it's inevitable that as we draw closer to the game's release date, that we'd get some information about it. The reference doesn't even say what kind of news we'd be getting, or how much of it will be released? (124.169.209.12 05:41, 4 August 2009 (UTC))

Have they yet made a statement on where they stand with these aspects of the game? Makes no sense to me why the nerf Ursan and keep these going strong, effectively killing all PUGs. They want this game to be nothing but a grind-fest for high-end equipment or what?

Will they? Yes. When? Later. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 18:50, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
They say they'll keep an "close eye" on speed clears, i dont know what they'll do to dungeon runs, however i could imagine that they will nerf speed clears to the point of only organized guilds being able to do it C4K3 User C4K3 Signature.jpg Talk 19:06, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
Keep in mind that many players that use such runs or clears either (1) have done the content normally already but choose the more efficient clears to max titles, or (2) don't care to do the content themselves so the point is moot. It also provides "work" for players in the form of a service-based economy. With speed clears, players actually work for it, and the Kurz/Lux titles are very long to max to begin with... so I would advise to keep them and only nerf if they become far more efficient than other methods of gaining the titles (e.g. AB/JQ/FA). If speed clears are slightly more efficient, I'm ok with that personally. As for runs, I personally don't like to pay for runs, but I think the problem is more prevalent in missions during zquest days. Still, I can't shake the impression that if you nerf runs, the people paying for them will just find another way to pay for it. You can't force people to play if they just want the rewards and are willing to pay for it. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 14:20, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

GW2 News?

Both sources of information say that there will be more information later this year. The twitter comment was made in July and since then we've had PAX as well as the German interviews. Wouldn't that be considered the 'news'? And besides, I don't think we should be listing 'other features' that give news about upcoming news, seems a bit unnecessary. Is there more things that we have to look forward to within the next 6 weeks? Or are those notations going to stay there until the game is released, because technically more news will be released later 'next' year as well. (Xu Davella 11:26, 13 November 2009 (UTC))

Ummm.. The GW2 website was made, trailers were released? ---Chaos- (talk) -- 13:49, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
So are you saying that we should leave the note there indefinitely, since it doesn't specify what kind of news, how much of it or when?(Xu Davella 14:20, 13 November 2009 (UTC))
I think it doesn't hurt anything to leave it, since we might get new info in the next six weeks, and after that we'd definitely get info sometime this year (since at that point, "this year" will be 2010). -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 14:26, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
"since it doesn't specify what kind of news, how much of it or when" - it does specify "when". The "kind" of news has already been mentioned, too. Erasculio 16:03, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
If we leave it up there for next year, then it may as well stay indefinitely. News about GW2 will come even after it is released. And because of the vagueness of the twitter note, it could be virtually anything GW2 related, during or after release. Unless you're talking about the fact that the news is GW2 for the 'kind' of news, I don't think that's sufficient enough. We shouldn't be sourcing one liners, we need more info.(Xu Davella 16:44, 14 November 2009 (UTC))
"We will release more info about lore and races later this year. We will reveal more about game play early next year." We have information of a specific type that we know is coming at an almost-specific time that is close enough time wise that it is plausible to leave the note up for any more lore that might happen this year, and any game play that will happen during the first fourth of next year. As far as other information being released, we know out of common sense that more info will be released after the gameplay bit, and more info after GW2 launch, but such information is not officially recognized by ANet yet, and nor do we have a specific time nor type given for future information after the gameplay section. So, leave the note up for the "early next year" for game play, but after that take it down unless ANet states that they shall release more information at a certain time. --Elven Chaos Elven's Talk Page 19:29, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
We've gotten a big chunk of information relating to characters and lore just recently, but because of the nature of the message, we can't take it down because we can't tell whether or not that's what the news was in relation to. I'm gonna digress. I've re-worded the message and updated the source links from twitter to the link you've provided. (Xu Davella 07:51, 15 November 2009 (UTC))

Since many districts did not give out hats during Wintersday, there was a word from ANet that there will be something to fix that and give people another chance (someone link to the exact words?). Automated changes to the bottom?

Most of these changes are routines that run since the game started and aren't really the thing you're looking for when heading to the page "Upcoming changes and features". So what about reordering the entries so the automated stuff does'nt draw the attention from really relevant things? Heino 20:41, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Not quite sure what you're suggesting, but if my thought is right, then how are you planning to align the Monthly automated changes with the 6-hourly Codex changes? Give an explanation of what you have in mind. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 23:47, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Next skill balance update

I didn't take a screenshot, but I remember Emily Diehl stating in-game (on the day of the 3700+ account bannings) that the next skill update will be primarily for Dervishes. If anyone has a screenshot or some other form of confirmation, should this be added to the page? Datrulegend 14:02, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

I don't have the screenshot, but in the Mesmer's update notes theres a mention of updates to the Dervish, non 'imbagon' Paragons and the smiting line for the Monk. (124.169.197.181 04:05, 17 June 2010 (UTC))
I made a note of it in the Skill balance updates section. --Silver Edge 05:59, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Buildbalance by skilllimit

We all know about builds called "lame builds". Offering exorbitant build options without limits resulted in imbalanced Skillcombinations. They often base on taking advantage of skills from the secondary profession; furthermore the used skills seem to work better on an other Primaryclass than they "are made" for. e.g. : W/A Backbreaker-Warriors(4-5 A-Skills); E/Rt Prism-Healer(2 E-Skills); Rt/A (5 A-Skills); R/A Sway (5 A-Skills); R/N Toucher (3-5 N-Skills)

Me/E Snare Me/N curse got already well nerfed. Some Assassinskills(in particular Eliteskills) have been extended by a penalty(deactivation of nonattribute related skills). Additionally Weaponspells and some Eleskills recieved an increased Primaryattribut realation(E/Rt..). All these updates are made to decrease the effectivness of "lame builds", aren't they?

However a lot of lamebuilds exist. In my opinion the introduction of a Skill-Limit for Secondaryclass-Skills would balance GW effective while having a lasting effect by the prevention of new lamebuilds-development.

My examples are related to PvP-Builds; anyway, also PvE-Builds often use this principle(e.g.: Roj-Mesmers; Sf-Assassins). In PvE we already have a Skilllimit of 3 for PvE-Skills(What would happen if it does not exist?).

What do you think of introducing the same Limit for Secondary-class-skills?

- A constriction on PvP-Areas would be an alternative to an overall implementation(But PvE-would be also balanced by this e.g.: N/Rt-Healer-Heros)

- Also a limitation on Secondary-class-skills which are related to an Attribute(->No Attribute-skills from secondaryclass are not effected)

- Giving Gwen-PvE(only)-Skills a class-relation as it is the case of Factions and Nightfall PvE-Skills would also support a PvE-Balance --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.176.232.55 (talk).

I think this has nothing to do with the wiki, other than it is a suggestion and belongs in the Feedback namespace. To make a suggestion for game changes, you must be a registered user of GWW, so please use the Create an account link in the upper right corner of any wiki page to do so. Then go to Feedback:Getting started, read the rules and instructions on creating your Feedback:User page and go from there. This is not the place to post game suggestions, nor the place to have this discussion. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 11:48, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the support. The topic can be now discussed at Feedback:User/€uroinnova/Build-balance_by_skill-limit. May an authorised person do the undo of this section?(" The edit could not be undone due to conflicting intermediate edits." ) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:€uroinnova (talk).
Discussions are never undone on this Wiki, but rather archived, so it's still available for referencing. Same will happen to this section in due time.-- Arduin talk 13:59, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Should we remove some of the "Upcoming Content"?

I mean, some of it is getting well over a year old and Linsey isn't even working on GW1 anymore. I think at least the new HoH map and bug fixes to FA/JQ should be removed. We've heard nothing about these for over a year and I think we can all agree that they're not happening. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 00:00, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Silver Edge is referring to the second bullet point of that section, not the first. Anyway, just click the link and read the second paragraph please. - Tanetris 19:16, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
The link on article leads to mesmer stuff though not to anything about dervish. Ramei Arashi 07:31, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Search for the word "scythe" on that page and you get "A few other balance issues are being worked on in parallel and will be included in the same build if they are testing well enough. These will NOT include major changes to the Dervish (and in particular scythes)...". --Silver Edge 08:00, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

I was going to give it a try, but it seems no one knows what the "FB" he refers to is. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 16:33, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
"FB = Feature Build, because things like Embark Beach, Hero stuff, and the various other things going into that build are all features." [4] --Silver Edge 21:47, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
For all those who Cba to look at the link above;
" The original order was Keiran stuff -> Wintersday -> FB -> Cantha -> Things people are going to be surprised by (that we're not talking about yet.) We changed it a bit so that Dervish comes after Wintersday, and before FB. It's been a long time coming, and it's a pretty major change. "
