So, uh...[edit]

How is victory supposed to be achieved with seven level 20's versus about thirty level 24's with superior skill bars? 50.130.130.102 04:26, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

If you are using heroes, control them. Pinning your healers back away from the fight will help you immensely. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 05:58, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
I won this with a party of 3, after Olias got ganked halfway through and he was the only one carrying a res. Not complaining. :D -- Hong 17:19, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
i completed this rather easilly on the second attempt, it seems they wanna kill the angchu more than us, we just get in the way. i went and stood behind the mob that are friendly to start with, when the battle commenced none of my heros even took dmg, from battle start to end i think it was about 3 mins in HM.Spark-TBa 08:24, 8 October 2011 (UTC)
Alot of luck involved, if no clerics spawn, easy if one does hard, if more than one, you're hosed.--Stratzvyda 22:56, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
I can't even GET to the Tengu village; I get slaughtered on the second group. A crapload of level 26s and 24s in a four person party? Yeah, that's really fair and even...and that's in NM...Tender WolfUser Tender Wolf sig.png 06:12, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
I managed it with an E/Rt Searing Flames build with life & spirit transfer, an SOS Rit (well, not entirely sos, as it was a mix of channeling, communing and resto), a tank, and myself as a blinding surge ele w/ prot spirit. It was ALOT easier than having a monk and the spirits worked wonders. 71.83.209.166 07:26, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Jet
I'm trying on HM with my Warrior and having difficulties still. Tried Discordway and Spiritway with many variations but so far have yet to manage it without a death and subsequent death of Soar. Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with the small party count and difficulty of HM? 67.250.186.229 21:30, 19 February 2018 (UTC)Terial Ika
Powerful summoning stones. Ineptitude. Luck. Pick one. -5.65.85.185 21:55, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
Not running Discordway or Spiritway also helps. Try using current hero setups, such as Mesmers with Panic or as per above, Ineptitude. The whole single-target spiking thing is very bad. - Infinite - talk 22:07, 19 February 2018 (UTC)
Tried many many different builds. Finally used the one from this video and either got lucky or this is the one for the mission. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr1u5MvY7j0 67.250.186.229 06:17, 20 February 2018 (UTC) Terial Ika
My contribution for hard mode: Me on SoS [OACjEOiMJTXMylVTOT7i+glTXTA] Razah on ST / Attacking / Minor Rit Healing [OACjAuhI5OYTrX48st5cmDzJHA] Olias on mm + rit healing [OAhkQIFsBGqDQjKUF6EDzoJxLeC] Norgu on Illusion anti-melee [OQNEAYwj2ykBeBrg8MJoHQE0JA] Stand behind the ministry so they are being attacked on two fronts. I took down the one cleric first and just hoped for the best. I could have prepped better but didn't pre cast Razah's attacking spirits. I did precast defensive and parked him off to the side out of harm's way. No cons or summoning stones used. Let's call that "old school". Tried a number of ideas out before finally cracking it (glaive, searing flames, protector monk ... nothing worked) Thanks for the above help about not taking a dedicated monk and standing behind the ministry. Soar's health bar was tanking south but she survived. Throw in a summoning stone (perhaps gaki or tengu flare) and you should have this after a few attempts max. Trapper build in hard mode worked a charm first time. Spent the entire dialogue laying traps. Used the hero builds suggested below and PC trapper: OgAScZMTKHJHLHNHPH1lul4k --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.5.214.35 (talk) at 02:11, 27 February 2023 (UTC).

Common Sense Does Anet have any?[edit]

Ok, u got a 4 man team..taking on 5-6 man teams who have good healers..u get to the camp, not only u gotta keep ur own tail alive, but Soar's aswell, and it doesnt help his tengu allies, die like babies with sid's, not to mention he is a war and seem's to take twice the dmg i do...and i dont see him using frenzy..ANET needs to show commonsense when they design these quest to have a NM and HM counterpart...but then again, ANET and Common sense do not go hand in hand. --121.219.101.101 20:30, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

All missions/quests which fail when NPC's die, are retarded. All of them. They are not "fun". They are not "challenging". They're just stupid and they suck. This is no different. In HM, you just have to keep banging your head against the wall of this quest, until you get a lucky spawn that DOESN'T have 2 HM Searing Flames ele's and 2 HM monks, of the "I have infinite energy and can spam healz and protz til the cows come home" variety. 86.31.33.19 19:44, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
It doesn't matter if you die, so long as you keep Soar alive. Get your protection hero to maintain Protective Spirit and Shield of Absorption on him. If you can't manage that, you might want to reconsider what you're doing.158.135.252.105 20:19, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Or, you might want to consider how lucky you were, the one time you did this quest and that worked for you (if you've even done it HM at all). Because nearly ALL of the Elite ministry have skills that remove enchantments, and the regular Illusionists can have Drain Enchantment as well. Soar can be dead in seconds regardless of trying to keep prots on him, and oh boy have I tried. It's simply not reliable. 86.31.33.19 23:10, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
The quest is plenty doable... but is anyone actually having fun doing it? What minuscule amount of people actually enjoy this quest (or quests like it). The quest is bad. --70.119.94.204 02:56, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
Just kill the ministry guys arround honorclaw, the waves should be doable if you kill the groups first --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.81.144.120 (talk • contribs) at 12:37, 7 March 2012 (UTC).
I agree with the above that this quest is not fun in HM. Challenge is one thing, but once frustration sets in, it becomes work and repetition. I wonder more and more if the live team knows what it's doing. There seem to be very wide imbalances between NM and HM versions of quests. In any case, this one is an unnecessary bottleneck. Any chance an Anet rep is actually listening? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 98.203.195.246 (talk • contribs) at 07:05, 20 March 2012 (UTC).
This quest poses some real annoying problems, especially in HM. Soar gets ganked in 3 seconds, you have to walk all the way there again. Your healer hero runs in to heal some random worthless NPC and gets ganked, you have to walk all the way... etc etc till the day Soar doesn't die. There's barely any tactics involved, there's a better chance of surviving facing the Searing head-first (heck i woulda stopped the searing from happening) (KILL MementoMori 10:33, 5 April 2012 (UTC))

As Fire Ele[edit]

Probably for all, plant yourself behind the ministry, and slightly downhill. Pop spirits right up against their backs, and flag your minions amongst them. You just need to give a distraction so the ministry doesn't kill the Angchu on the first salvo.

Suggestion: Bring an Oni stone. Or possibly the Legionaire. I used

Tips for HM[edit]

As a warrior, I struggled a lot with HM for this quest, especially considering that besides damage, the only utility I brought to the party was "Save Yourselves!". Which... never stopped the zealots from wiping all of my heroes before I could even realize what was going on.

After many iterations and build changes I concluded 2 things:

  1. Do not bother bringing res spells. A single death translated into a wipe, every single time.
  2. Gaze of Fury and Disenchantment completely changed my experience. So much that I managed to be successful on my first attempt after introducing these spells. Also, killing the packs on my way to the quest marker felt notoriously faster.

Here is the comp I used:

  • Me, 100b - [OQASEZKT9F7gTNvlXFGW8Vxg]
  • MoW, Minion Bomber - [OANDUshvSyBVBoBKgbhaR1D3VA]
  • Livia, SoS - [OAhkYYHS4Kyz1EjVON2V1JnwTaC]
  • Xandra, ST - [OAWjMkgMZOYTr3jLcCNzA9gNHA]

As mentioned by others, flag your heroes slight behind the ministry pack. When you see your character talking, that's a good timing to start pre-casting all the spirits. The enemies in range should get decimated while chasing minions. From that point, you just have to do the cleanup.

Traps[edit]

Placing traps at each grouping, does work; eliminating about 70% (roughly), thinning out their numbers. Tikka LeFem talk (talk) 21:16, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
