Talk:Weapon of Renewal

Increase the duration (maybe double?) - will give it more utility with other ritualists skills such as wielder's boon and wielder's strike. 203.217.0.53 03:44, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

I think it's designed to be put on others more than yourself... especially considering it ends once it triggers. Not something which would be useful for casting skills like wielder's strike at all.
yeah I agree. This looks more like a support-other skill. I'm thinking about that paragon's skill.. forgot the name. Well this weapon looks just as overpowering. Combine this with Renewing Memories, Wielder's Zeal and Ghostly Haste, and you've got yourself a pretty strong battery Rit. (Terra Xin 02:50, 22 July 2007 (UTC))

Very limited use considering it's spawning. Can't use as E-management while running Rit as secondary, could be the kind of skill to throw in as primary Rit if your experimenting and have a spare slot, nothing I would feel useful enough to include as a 'primary skill' in a set up. Seems its only use is for a quick energy hit to an ally, increase the benefit a little and it may see more use.Evil_Geek

It does seem pretty limited, but I believe the ally you cast it on will get the equivalent of around 2 energy regen pips. Allows a warrior to use more energy attacks, or frenzy more often. Moving to Channeling would be nice, but I think Spawning Power could really use some more viable skills. skaspaakssa 15:57, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
If I was going to buff a party member I'd invest my attributes elsewhere than in Spawning. Restoration ritualist do not need this either. It is a not a good energy management skill for themself. I find very limited use for this skill. --Shadetz X 11:14, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Too bad it needs an attack skill to trigger. So those who need energy most (i.e. casters) won't be able to profit from it. --Sanya 13:27, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

At the moment I'd like to see this skill buffed by making it trigger on two attacks, allowing to actually be useful at the lower levels of Spawning Power. It might then see use with around 9 points in Spawning, where at the moment it probably won't see use on... well anyone, as it barely gives net energy even at 12 spawning, and having 12 spawning is a waste of attribute points in the first place. Mmm no thanks. And I have a problem with 50% of GWEN skills dealing with e-management. That's not fun... useful, maybe, but not fun. Games are not played because they are useful but because they are supposed to be fun. Servant of Kali 23:33, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

No silly, then Izzy might have to do his job balance skills. Don't be dumb. Readem Sorry, I'll stop trolling now. 00:40, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Seriously. What did Izzy ever do to you do to deserve being forced to do his job? RitualDoll 18:56, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

usefulness[edit]

I think this skill won't be used much at all for two reasons: 1. energy gain on the ally is about the same as the energy you loose... energy transfer is not too useful. 2. It's a weapon spell. Means you can't really have any other weapon spells on the target, spells which are better than this. One thing I just realized. Might be useful for decapitate, assuming it doesn't remove the energy gained (which I think is somewhat safe to assume)--Xapti 19:46, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

At least it's still better than ashes that said, "While holding those ashes, the next time you hit with an attack skill, you get 5...6 energy" : P I would have liked this more if it were an enchantment - then it would at least have some synergy with a Ritualist under Spirit's Strength. Erasculio 22:18, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
I stated above that this can be overpowering, because there are a whole line of other skills in Spawning Power that can boost the usefulness of this skill too highly. A build setup can be Ghostly Haste, Renewing Memories and Wielder's Zeal. If you need a battery in PvE, this one takes the cake. With response to energy transfer, specifically energy transfer of equal amount, Blood Ritual has the same energy ratios - 10:14 to 5:7. One of these doesn't require life sacrifice, and can be used on yourself. (Terra Xin 02:26, 23 July 2007 (UTC))
Give your monk Barbed Spear and have a Rt with that for leet emanagement =p Seriously though this seems like an ok skill that can help support some melee builds that are energy heavy. Seems interesting overall. Patccmoi 16:02, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Even if it does more than blood rit and can be used on urself, it requires fairly specific conditions to pull it off in the first place, conditions which casters don't usually fullfill anyways. Dancing Gnome 08:27, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
The only usefulness these one hit weapon spells have are in highly organized PvP, PvE (especially with heros and henchies involved) finds this skill wasted as after its cast the melee character will most liley waste it randomly and too quicly to be effective. One hit weapon spells are a waste of a slot in pve, and this should be a major point of thought for Izzy and the others.-Anonymous--142.167.12.72 20:24, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
It's effectively free with Wielder's Zeal and 14+ Spawning Power, but it still seems like an inferior version of Aria of Zeal Zealous Anthem. -- Gordon Ecker 23:56, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Might be funny to see this used w/ a Decapitate warrior on the team; who would then be able to follow up w/ a 1/2 second attack. --24.179.151.252 17:59, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Buff[edit]

Could the recharge time to this skill be reduced? It's a nice way to help out physical damage dealers without higher energy attacks, kinda like a blood rit for non-casters. Heros use this skill very well aswell. Dancing Gnome 14:03, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

energy each time ally attacks?[edit]

Is this a one-off / one-time energy gain, or for the alloted amount of time, does that ally gain energy each time he strikes with an attack? 24.23.36.34 23:59, 17 August 2009 (UTC) Sorry, I had a log in name once- and the buttons to log in, and retrieve password are so close together, that i accidentally pressed the retrieve password button (hey - they look the same too!) Anyway since I cannot remember which email address I used, I don't know if i am able to create a new account, or if the website logs my IP and doesn't allow me to create a new account. Until that information is revealed, I have to use my IP for my 4 tiddles.

As the description states, this only gives the energy once. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 00:01, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Doesn't need a change at all[edit]

If you change this to multiple charges, you actually make it worce as heroes will not use splinter weapon on you as long as it's active. As it is it's a perfect skill for a quick energy boost. 84.48.54.253 07:41, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
