Talk:Yuri the Hand

Yuri's "Move like the wind. Strike like thunder." is likely a reference to Muhammad Ali's famous quote "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee". Could someone add this as my wiki skillz are limited? ^^ --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:81.235.252.183 .

It's also very likely it's simply a reference to Feudal Japanese warrior credos. Compareing oneself to the elements was - and still is - a good way to show one's strengths. The ancient motto "Furinkazan" is a good example of this, it basically translates to "Wind-Forest-Fire-Mountain", meaning "move swiftly like the wind - stay quiet like the forest - attack fiercely like fire - be steady like the mountain". While it's also probable as a reference to Muhammad Ali, it's also a very common credo in feudal Japan or China. --image:User_Jioruji_Derako_logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 22:53, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Whats with the Trivia? I know some people love trivia but it seems so unrelated to me. Even Jirouji's seem more related. RadaArashi 21:07, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to remove it, personally. I don't think the mere act of comparing oneself to things makes you Muhammad Ali. If Yuri said "Float like a cloud, sting like thunder", that would be a different story, but it's nothing like it as it is. --image:User_Jioruji_Derako_logo.png Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 21:24, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
It's that he's comparing himself to something light and agile, then something powerful and deadly, not just that he's comparing things in general.75.45.94.46 00:11, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

What about Yimmy the Hand, a character of some fantasy books written by Raymond E. Feist? 85.144.149.13 18:47, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
