The predictions should also be shown on other pages[edit]

Thanks for creating this page. I think at least the first upcoming 7 days should be dynamically shown on the main page along with the current daily bounties, since people is going to be more interested on whant is going to show up next (this page) than on what they have just missed (the main zquest page). -- Talk to me Beren (Talk | contribs) 22:16, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

I like the idea of the page (nice work putting it together). I worry that if ANet resets the challenges again (deliberately or accidentally), we'll have to redo the entire list. Should we generate 3 lists of predictions (one for each type) and group them together on this page?   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 06:17, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
I think showing the next upcoming 7 days of Zaishen Challenge Quests on the main page is overkill. Displaying the next day's quests in the "Latest in-game activities" section of the main page should be enough, along with a link to this page for people who want to see what quests will be offered in the following days after tomorrow. Main Page/activities could be changed to something like this:
Today
Nicholas Sandford:
Zaishen Mission:
Zaishen Bounty:
Zaishen Combat:
Tomorrow (prediction)
Nicholas Sandford:
Zaishen Mission:
Zaishen Bounty:
Zaishen Combat:
I agree with creating 3 prediction pages, which would help prevent re-creating the entire list if ArenaNet resets the quests again or if they add the missing Pogahn Passage mission to the cycle. --Silver Edge 20:20, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
There are three ideas implied by above:
  • Use separate prediction subpages (making it easier to recreate since the cycles each have a different # of days). I suspect this is uncontroversial.
  • How many days of prediction to place on the main page. Wouldn't putting more than 2–3 would simply overcrowd the page?
  • How many predictions to place on the main article page? Personally, I think it's odd that we are willing to display 30 days of history (that are useful only for pattern spotting) and unwilling to display at least a week of predictions (that a player could use to plan their play schedule).

I'll do something about the predictions tomorrow. poke | talk 22:33, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
The History is good for seeing how often a specific Quest was a ZaishenQuest already or what one missed in case one couldnt be online for whatever reason. --SilentStorm Talk to me 22:37, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
I completely agree, but it shouldn't be the main point under the Zquest page now that we've figured out the patterns, the past logs should mainly be kept in a secondary page. I've personally been hoping for at least a PvP Zquest calendar, so I could plan my RA playing accordingly, but if we can do it with the three types of quests then it is even better. Shame I don't really know how those dynamic tables work or I'd do it myself.-- Talk to me Beren (Talk | contribs) 02:01, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

So are the predictions going to be added to the main page/Main Page/activities? --Silver Edge 18:38, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Predictions should change once the new Sealed Deck format comes out... Firefly 14:45, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
Still, I agree that predictions should be on the main page about Zaishen Challenge Quests. History etc should be on a separate page. All in all, a switcharoo would be best. Put predictions on the main page and leave history for the archive page. - Kherec 09:50, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
What would the Predictions gain? Confusions for people? So many would try to 'expect' what we predict, instead of what it actually will be. I am in favor for the fun of it, but only if it's 'clearly' stated to the others that this isn't actually upcoming... events so to speak. ♥ Ariyen ♀ 09:47, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
I believe you have misinterpreted. These predictions are not guesses for the fun of it. They're extrapolations based on proven cycles, and they've been right every day since the page was made a month ago. - Tanetris 09:59, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Agree with putting the predictions on main page, at least for a 2-3 days in advance. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 15:11, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I have been extremely busy the last days; I'll try to get something done about it this weekend. poke | talk 18:52, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
As of now I'm not really sure it's a good idea. As Firefly pointed out, HB and TA are going to be deleted and Sealed Deck added within the span of one month, the ZCombat cycle will change and we'll have to spend around a month or so to figure it out again. I'd say once we have it written down (around December I bet), then make the change, or else people will get used to the predictions and then rage out when we have to take them down. Another posibility is, when this happens and if the PvE cycles stay unchanged, we could just remove the ZCombat prediction.-- Talk to me Beren (Talk | contribs) 10:50, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Reward Mistakes[edit]

Just noticed that there are mistakes in the column showing total zcoin rewards. It lists Urgoz as giving 175 zcoins, when you get 210 for him. Haven't been through the other entries to check them. Yol 11:52, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Corrected. I think the predictions were created using the archives, so there may be more quests using the old reward figures. --Silver Edge 17:39, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
I just checked and corrected the rest of them. --Silver Edge 18:32, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Predictions on individual mission pages[edit]

Would it be possible to place the date of the next Zaishen mission occurrence on the individual mission pages, automatically, via this prediction page? -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 13:26, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

That would be hard to implement, yet even more problematic for the server to handle it :/ poke | talk 16:17, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
I thought it might be, thanks for the response. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 16:19, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Time to extend the prediction table?[edit]

That prediction table is getting fairly small now. Perhaps it's time to extend it a tad. Anon-e-mouse 03:12, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

I tossed on January and February. Still hoping Poke gets around to doing some sort of automation with these at some point. - Tanetris 05:44, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, it currently would work the same way as the Nicholas Sandford predictions, by putting the predictions on the same list. The script then automatically will choose the correct one. But I'm working on a method to no longer need to manually add those lines and only document the circles.. poke | talk 17:26, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

The predictions are very wrong. Klassy 01:38, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

That's an interesting claim. Comparing the page as it was originally created back in August to the archives of what's actually been recorded, every prediction was right up until the October 22 update. The mission and bounty predictions from that original page continued to be correct right up to and including today, and if you will kindly look at the November 18th version of the predictions page (when the post-update cycle of combat quests finished its first round), every single combat prediction has been correct since then as well. - Tanetris 16:55, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
You are right, I think I was drunk when I added that comment 218.214.126.215 01:11, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

While Poke figures out the method where it automatically documents the cycles, why not merge Zaishen Challenge Quest/predictions with Zaishen Challenge Quest and have it work similar to Nicholas Sandford/Research, so that way someone isn't required to manually update the Zaishen Challenge Quest article everyday at 16:00 UTC? --Silver Edge 03:57, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Table is getting fairly small again. I don't know wiki well enough to extend it. 195.183.80.137 08:51, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Extended through August. - Tanetris 06:26, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Auto update[edit]

I'm working at bot, who will auto-update Zaishen Challenge Quest page using data from this table. User Demonical Monk av.png Demonical Monk 19:52, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

You just need to move more than one line from the predictions to the full page. The Main Page will automatically select the correct one. poke | talk 17:23, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

How is this lot being predicted?[edit]

I'd love to know how this is beign predicted. actually predicting which mission and bounty amaxes me. the amount of coins i can see how its done but... Kraal FardaleUser Kraal Sig.pngTalk

It's a simple cycle. The quests repeat after a fixed number, so after the end of the first cycle, people checked during the second cycle, if it's really a cycle and then were able to guess the rest based on the previous cycles. poke | talk 17:24, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Where is the cycle listed, if anywhere? Kyubiko 01:30, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
Found it. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Zaishen_Challenge_Quest/archive Kyubiko 01:33, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Updating zquests for the day[edit]

I was wondering, when I copy a the day's line in the table from /predictions to the main table to update the zquests, should I delete it from the /predictions table? Datrulegend 17:17, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes. piper doesn't talk 17:21, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Change the order[edit]

It would be nice if certain Zaishen Missions would swap positions on the list. Its not possible to do G.O.L.E.M. before The Elusive Golemancer yet GOLEM comes before TEG in the list. Also Augury Rock comes before Thirsty River. And yes, I'm just whining. *Malganis Frostmourn* 12.106.72.10 21:42, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Then what's the point of the post? These are (or atleast were) supposed to be random. - J.P.User J.P. sigicon.pngTalk 22:03, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Upcoming downtime[edit]

There may not be anything that can be done about this but anyway...I was wondering what will happen when GW goes down? (apparently somewhere on the official site ANet have said that on the 10th of August GW will be down (for 24 maybe but idk for sure) because they're moving the servers to a new data centre or something like that) Do you guys think maybe if it's working again on the 11th that missions for the 11th will be what should be for the 10 and so on and so forth? PalkiaX50 15:18, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Where are the future quests?[edit]

Whoever is updating the daily (greatly appreciated) is removing the current, but not adding any in at the bottom. Future planning has been derailed. Darcy 14:35, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Poke assures me that he'll get his fancy automation thing working in the next week, so I'm gonna hold off for now. If that doesn't materialize, I'll toss on a few more months' worth. - Tanetris 22:23, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
Can't we have something similar to Wanted page, with one table for ZM, one table for ZB, one table for ZC and no table to rule them all? Perhaps putting each list of available quests (we already know them, right?) inside subpages so we can fix any of them if ANet ever changes something about ZCQ rotation system. --NIN37 17:05, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
