Talk:Zealot's Fire

From Guild Wars Wiki

It seems like this skill does not function exactly like the skill description...maybe there should be a note about that. In my experience it does not trigger on any skill, but only on monk SPELLS. I cold be wrong, it might trigger on monk skills, but it for sure doesn't trigger on non-monk spells and it also does not trigger on itself when you recast it...maybe some more looking into it and then a note at the bottom (it isn't really a bug, it just doesn't function exactly like it says, so maybe that is a bug). Loual 18:04, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Keep it mind that the wording indicates that it shouldn't trigger on any skill that doesn't have a target (like itself or aegis). HeWhoIsPale 18:12, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

It might be a bug since the description says: whenever you use a SKILL, but it might be triggered when you use energy-based skills so signets may be left out. But imagine it being triggered by aegis, for example, you have a party of 8 people and cast aegis with zealot's fire... that seems a bit too much, so perhaps it was changed so it does not trigger on enchantments. Or, for example, you also have a party of 8, and cast heal party with zealot's fire, that might just be the reason for this, but i don't know if i am right. Jerry 09:26, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

It also does not trigger on itself when you recast it, I would think it would trigger if you cast it on recharge and it was still on you. Alex Morningstar 21:46, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Read the standard description carefully: while the skill augments you, it doesn't specify a target, so ZF doesn't trigger itself. Incidentally, this skill is a shining example of why I hate concise descriptions. --SoraMitsukai 17:15, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
The description says whenever you use a skill that targets an ally, so does this work for Ritualist healing spells, or a paragon's Inspirational Speech? Would be funny to have the armored dude in the back giving you a lecture and suddenly have the monsters around you explode in flames. Elder Angelus 19:14, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Let's get this straight: if you use a skill that doesn't says in it's description it can target an ally, will not trigger this skill? So for instance, Anthem of Envy will not trigger the skill? Not even if you target a ally? F. C. Sauër 18:29, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Best start to make players rethink about Smiting Prayers[edit]

With our new, shining invention of split PvE/PvP Updates, I highly appreciate something like

Enchantment Spell. For 60 seconds, whenever you use a Skill that targets an ally, all foes adjacent to that target are struck for 5...29...35 holy damage.

Shouts[edit]

Needs to work with shouts for srs--75.94.77.148 20:47, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Pretty sure it does.... wasn't there an HA gimmick that used three shouts to trigger ZF? Misery 20:50, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah it does my bad. But I was thinking more along the lines of party wide shouts not single target shouts... lol that would be imba.--75.94.77.148 06:00, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Slew of Target Shouts[edit]

it triggers on blood is power :D 7 monk/necro bip and 1 sin for the lulz

Note about Rodgort[edit]

Yet another example of shutting down the common sense of people, not like one can't realize that when a skill says it deals fire damage, anything involving fire damage is counted. Haru 00:32, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Zealot's Fire on Ether Renewal + Infuser builds[edit]

Would it be useful to put this on an infuse bar Build:E/Mo ER Infuse Bonder?

Imagine, activate zealot's fire with renewal active, and start spamming infuse health on the tank to not only keep him alive, but do AOE damage with each cast! With Infuse Health's zero recast time and infinite mana / health from renewal, it seems like you could get some decent damage. --24.16.114.0 16:39, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Armor[edit]

Is the damage from this armor-ignoring? If not, it might be worthless in HM :-/ --208.179.66.227 19:34, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

It's fire damage so it doesn't ignore armor. --Teisei 06:11, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Ancestor's Rage does lightning damage, but it's armor ignoring. 76.250.38.1 09:54, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
Does not ignore armor. Tested today with the 60/100 armor dummies. 95.208.138.220 16:11, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Question[edit]

Does this skill trigger from skills like heal party, and extinguish, and Breath of the great dwarf? If so, you could use a bunch of spell breaker monks using all three of those spells while under the effects of this enchanmen to deal massive amounts of damage. Just get a few prot spells and youre good to go. Plz get back to me on this, thanks. Hidan Santai 05:27, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

it doesnt because those spells dont technically target anyone82.42.236.161 21:15, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Misleading[edit]

When I looked at this skill I first thought that the energy loss is triggered for each foe you hit, instead the energy loss occurs only once and on every spell that qualifies. Basically you lose one energy every time you cast a spell on an ally, regardless of how many people are hit by the damage. Add a note?--Haseo 22:44, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

The concise is unclear, yes. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 18:57, 29 Jan 2011 (UTC)

Is renewing an effect targeting the ally?[edit]

For example Zealot's Fire, Mending Refrain and The Power Is Yours? --DANDY ^_^ -- 10:41, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

I don't see your point. ZF triggers each time you use a skill directly on an ally. TPiY won't trigger it, but other things such as "Make Haste!" or Reversal of Fortune will.--Ruine User Ruine Eternelle Ruine Eternelle.jpg Eternelle 11:08, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
Okay I see your point, and like I said, it's only when you use a skill on ally. If the effect renews itself, it doesn't count.--Ruine User Ruine Eternelle Ruine Eternelle.jpg Eternelle 11:08, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
Yeah that'd be the expected functionality, but I tend to confirm the functionality; the game might be broken in the weirdest of places. Don't have much time for that at work though. --DANDY ^_^ -- 06:40, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Been using this lately. Not sure if it's better than just putting prot spells on the bomber and taking Putrid Bile, but it sure as hell is sexy (you get procs from Death Nova + Foul Feast and Intervention is good with minions). This would in theory have even more synergy wit Jagged Bones. Anyways, I was really just asking for the sake of a smiter speccing 8 in motivation for Mending Refrain and TPIY, effectively dealing 30 AoE damage every ~3s+ around every ally in earshot that you bothered to buff for the sake of I don't know why.
EDIT: Also, for curious beings looking at recent changes/history ignore the edit summary. I'm mixing your name with one from 5 years ago and forgot to make sure I make sense. --DANDY ^_^ -- 09:31, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
