The Talk Like a Pirate Event is a special event that coincides with International Talk Like a Pirate Day on 19 September.

The following NPCs in Lion's Arch and Kamadan had their models altered. The NPCs only used the alternate models on 19 September.

- All NPCs who have altered models have also had their levels changed to 15.
- In 2008, Pikin, the Hero skill trainer found in Kamadan, was accidentally removed during the update for the event. He was later returned in a subsequent update.

- The quote "Ahoy there, Cap'n Tightpants!" is a reference to the TV series Firefly. In the episode Shindig, character Kaylee calls Captain "Mal" Reynolds "Cap'n Tightpants".
- The quote "Well met, jim lad. We be pirates, savvy?" is from the novel "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson, and is used in several film and television adaptations.
- The quote "Why is the rum gone?" is from the Disney film series "Pirates of the Caribbean," found here.
- The quote "What will ye do with a drunken pirate, ear-lie in the morning." is a reference to the song/shanty titled Drunken Sailor.
- The quotes "Ye'll have to kill me before me dies." and "With your head on my shoulders we'd wreck civilization." are from the movie Yellowbeard.
