The Realm of Torment lies in the the Mists, and is a realm part of the Underworld that is ruled by Grenth. It is a place where twisted evil is banished. Its name comes from the fact that banished souls are sent here to spend an eternity in torment. This area can be seen as analogous to Hell in various real world religions. The various areas that makes up this place are uncharted as few mortals will ever see the opportunity to get to the area and leave it alive, hence there are no existing world maps — these are up to players to discover as they explore the areas on their own.

The Realm of Torment is where the fallen god Abaddon was imprisoned by the five gods of Tyria to avoid spreading Nightfall to the world. Among His creations are the Margonites, of which Lord Jadoth was the first Abaddon gifted with magic. He shares imprisonment in this wicked place with the Lich Lord and Shiro Tagachi.
